Yeah, looks like a no-go. I think gift vouchers are the way forward. I have friends in the US that can probably buy them for me and I can PayPal them the money. Might be cheaper than a reseller.

ascroft:

Yep, date validation didn't work for me and not prepared to spend any more time on it.

My present balance is $4.10 NZ which they are welcome to!

When I was in Europe in July, it was rubbish - only let me get out small sums of money and pretty sure fees on top.

I would look for another option next time.

One thing to be aware of in Europe and the US is that private ATM's are everywhere. These all charge significant surcharges.

You can request they pay it out to your bank account. Seems like a great scheme transfer everything over create slush fund of money left behind.

If you're somebody who travels or uses the card frequently the new OneSmart is a poor offering. You may as well just get a Travelex branded card rather than their white label OneSmart offering as you'll get better rates (around 2% better) and won't have to pay the $1 monthly fee. The only thing you'll miss out on is APD earn and

The biggest benefit of OneSmart is that it allows you could buy tickets without paying credit card fees. If you're somebody who does fly regularly this can save you hundreds of dollars per year.

The new OneSmart doesn't allow buying APD which closes a pretty big loophole that effectively allowed unlimited APD upgrades for Elites or anybody who knew an Elite.

Yep - you need to convert all your foreign currency to NZD then put in details for manual payback. 3-Days from request, seems to work OK

Ah well, another useful service bites the dust.

I didn't close the account. I just moved the money out of the account. You are not required to have money to keep the account.

But isn't there a $10 'have your money back' fee? that existed before the change, and applies to the new card too

If you don't close the account, won't they still try to charge the $1 monthly fee?
