timmmay:

The New World Clubcard is a fully functioning Flybuys card that can be used at other retailers, according to this FAQ on the flybuys website.

How confusing can things get.. You can only use it if you're crediting to Fly Buys though - not Airpoints. What happens with your Airpoints accruing New World card if you change the earn to Fly Buys with New World? Will the same number then work for Fly Buys? I'd doubt it.

We're flagging Flybuys. Have applied for New World Clubcards with Airpoints attached instead. We don't shop there often anyway, but you can't get the specials anymore without the card apparently.

Now to sort out linking the new AA cards to existing Onecard without losing the points.

Register the new AA Smartfuel / One Card is pretty easy.  Logon and do it there.  The old card cancels.  When you put in the address field you may have to hit the other button and put it in manually which is already fill in and if you have not you need to create a logon account.  Not everyone here have a logon account, they just signed in using their card number and other stuff like surname, and DOB.

Some people have gotten the new Airpoints card they are also a registered One Smart customer.  But then I got the email saying my card will soon be received as I am a One Smart user - huh ....  Maybe I used the One Smart card later than them so those who had One Smart a while back are not included?  Deemed not active?

We are a regular customer with AA Smartfuel, they didn't bother to send us a new card.  One Card said they don't send you a new card automatically if you didn't earn at least a $15 voucher in the last year.

Well for those that don't have the stores near them - small towns or they may not drive or use farmers markets.  The off the shelf price (without discounts) for fuel is that legit?

If your details are not the same dunno how they data match.  You may find that the AA Smartfuel doesn't match up to the One Card.  Unless you call them to link it up, you may need to sign up as a new customer, link that up.  So you have 2 identities now.  Use up the credit of the old card, until to the end of the 2 monthly cycle delink deactivate that old card and use the new card ........... Yeah.

You register the card at the One Card site but it matches over to the Smartfuel website.  Interestingly, the old One Card cancels out I think, but the old AA Smartfuel doesn't and on your account you now have 2 active card numbers unless you deactivate the old card.

I am a AA Member - do I need to pick up new cards?

No - as an AA Member you already have all of these benefits in your new AA Membership card (issued after 3 October 2016)

haha - someone here misplaced a card, ordered a replacement.  The card he got had to be registered online or call the call centre up.  most companies when they sent you a replacement card set it up for you or what they did with the old One Card.  going forward i wonder if pple sign up for new cards or get a replacement if they  ........  nor did the accompanying letter say anything about we had to register it.

Used the new OneCard/AA Card at Countdown today. Received an email from Countdown pretty soon afterwards saying everything was good to go. Logged in to Countdown when we got home and sure enough, the old card number had been replaced with the new number, and all the points were still on the account. At least that went smoothly.

A family member used their New World Club Card (with AirNZ).  They like many people are not that clued up in the details.  The checkout person after taking their Club Card with AirNZ asked for Flybuys.  Maybe it is their 20yr history .......

Well, that's an hour of my life I will never get back.

It's all very complicated. At least the Countdown/AA means that (I think) I only need to carry the one card. The New World/Fly Buys/Airpoints fubar bonanza means I think you need to keep all 3 cards on you if you really want the loyalty points.

I've endeavoured to load the lot on to my watch. See how that goes.

Check your barcodes. Ultimately a rebrand exersize, likely the same barcodes still. Pick a reward and pretty much both accept

Barcodes haven't been the same on any of the new cards I've received. All different from the old.

Yeah, they're all different from both each other and the old cards they're replacing.

I asked Z and Air NZ how it's possible to earn Airpoints at Z since Air NZ Elite's don't yet have new cards. The response from Z is that existing cards will earn Airpoints.

If that's the case I wonder why Air NZ went to the huge expense of sending everybody a new card out of cycle (ie you normally only get a new one on your Airpoints anniversary).

Yes the old card has a Fly Buys logo.

The barcode however is an Air NZ generated alias Fly Buys number (ie includes your Airpoints number) so it's not the same as an existing Fly Buys account.
