For some reason beyond my ken, I have received _two_ new airpoints (non-one smart) cards in the space of a month. Identical name, numbers, everything.

I just received a "Platinum" Airpoints card (last was a Jade?) with the chip and a MasterCard logo.

setup was easy and transfer of old funds a couple of simple clicks once logged in....

Finding my last payment loading transaction missing ($1,500 of my forthcoming holiday money)

Priceless? yell

The OneSmart card has always been a Platinum Mastercard (I have no idea why) regardless of your Airpoints status.

What's your status and Airpoints anniversary date? Did they simply send the new replacement non Flybuys card, and then another new card on your anniversary date?

Previously with OneSmart cards were replaced every anniversary. Obviously if you don't have OneSmart now there isn't a need to do that.

Whatever the lowest is. Jade? I haven't been a regular flyer for years.

I'd need to figure out the renewal date. That's the most likely explanation.

It's beginning to look like FlyBuys got right up in the pockets of Z.

I'm not sure how its working in the north, but currently down here it's like this:

Almost constant discounting for FlyBuys card (until at least 15th as part of their summer promotion) and 3x pts
While AP get 3x. (Which doesn't help much when the reward amount dropped.) and no discounting

Caltex dropped from the mobil/caltex supermarket rewards scheme to just Mobil.
Who despite this, (and possibly as a challenge to Z) currently have a constant 4/6/10c off for $40 or more purchase making those vouchers trash/pointless

So it's pushed a move to mobil for me. And they wonder why they need to send me a 'we've noticed you didn't use your app in a while'

Z are a part owner of Fly Buys

The current nationwide promotion (until the 31st January) is 7cpl off petrol + triple Airpoints or triple Fly Buys. This has been running since mid December.

Something really has to be done by the Commerce Commission about fuel discounting which is being lead by AA SmartFuel. Right now it's a joke, and clearly in breach of the Fair Trading Act.

APs are the only one till end of month, (with no discounting) but only the 15th for Flybuys

Swipe your Fly Buys card in-store at Z until 15 January 2017 and you'll save 7c a litre + earn triple Fly Buys points on fuel. We've got you covered this summer at Z.

Australia supermakets keep getting slapped on their varied coupon discounting due to anti-competitiveness leading people to a particular branded supermarket or product to get added bonuses that weren't disclosed. But I see they sorted that and are now all moving to app based ones. https://www.msn.com/en-au/news/other/petrol-price-apps-making-shopping-docket-fuel-savings-redundant/ar-BBxNWH0

What that doesn't mention is the ACCC clamped down on voucher and banned discounting greater than 4cpl because it was skewing the fuel market. The exact same thing is happening in the NZ market but the Commerce Commission don't seem interested in acting on it.

Importer margins have risen significantly to compensate for this discounting and what's occurring with inflated retail pricing simply to offer discounts is ticking all the boxes when it comes to breaching the FTA.

I recently switched over to Mercury Energy. I tried to set-up to pay the bill via recurring direct debit with my ANZ Airpoints credit card, but it kept failing both via the online process and via their IVR phone system.

I communicated with their CSR's via phone and via email on multiple occasions over the space of 2 months and kept being told that it must be a system error and to try again in a few days.

Eventually I was informed that the ANZ Airpoints Credit Card cannot be used as a payment method for the recurring debit option. That card can only be used for one-off payments. I decided to try registering my Westpac Airpoints Credit Card via their online system and it was accepted immediately.

Unsure why they don't accept the ANZ Airpoints Credit Card, but do accept the Westpac Airpoints Credit Card for the recurring direct debit payment.

As an aside my ANZ card was charged the $1 authorisation fee for each attempt at registering it. I was charged $11 in total. In the end Mercury credited $11 to my power account as the re-imbursement.

If you can't laugh at yourself then you probably shouldn't laugh at others.
