Another good article, hard to summarize, but worth reading ...

The NY Times - Trump’s Closing Argument: Lies, Distortions and Inaccuracies  [free unlocked link]

03 Nov 2024

Former President Donald J. Trump, in the closing days of the 2024 election, continues to be a font of exaggerations, misleading claims and outright lies.

For Mr. Trump, no topic is too important or too insignificant when it comes to making inaccurate or distorted assertions.

In the past two weeks, he has shared false claims about voting, immigration, economic policy and his opponent, Vice President Kamala Harris, as well as whales, an astronaut, Beyoncé, Oprah Winfrey and his own uncle, among countless other misleading statements. ...

[headings only]

  • False Claims of Voter Fraud
  • Inaccurate Attacks on Harris
  • Doubling Down on Old Falsehoods
  • A Grab Bag of Errant Claims

Times/Siena polls find Harris rising in North Carolina and Georgia, but dipping in Pennsylvania

if NYT/Siena has no bias this time (usually pollsters are unintended, but they all have one), then I count that as 274. However I would be suprised to see Harris lose both blue wall states Pa and MI, of which Siena has called a literal coin toss. Pa was going down fast breaking Red in recent days though. But how much of that is deliberate bias outlier who really knows.

For an alternative view of high quality polling. They have results more like the Blue wall strategy but its very tight much like Sienna just in a different path including Nevada for 276.

But id not put my money on either given they polls of 1-2%, well within margin of error.

Its going to be fascinating to see if it is as tight (really nobody can call it for certain) or if one will end up winning with a landslide based on narrow margins. Could still occur for either party :-) (gotta enjoy the uncertainty)

Regarding Musk attempts to buy votes for buddy Trump, with million dollar weekly lottery. The lawsuit raises concerns over election bribery and legal limits on financial incentives tied to voting or voter registration.

Musk tried, and failed, to get it moved to federal court, banking on either Trump winning or getting a Trump appointed judge.

The maximum penalty for election violations includes a $10,000 fine, up to five years in prison, or both.

So he pays a small percentile of his hourly investment rate as a penalty. It seems unfair. Wouldnt it be fairer if judges decided on what is hardest for all people ie $10k is nothing to Musk, so give people serious sentences ie parole time ie 4 hours a day for a year. Musk would love that,

Im too tied up with NZ's Rocket Lab to be worrying about "look at me" Musk, oh wait Don and him are both Sociopaths? ;-p

The deplorable comments made by that "comedian" at the orange buffoon's rally regarding Puerto Rico may just come back to bite him in the proverbial yet (which they should!).

https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/2024-elections/early-vote

Republicans seem to be back to voting in early. Georgia certainly seems to have gone their way, a lot to claw back in person for some pollsters to be close to accurate. But PA seems to be the democrats early voting.

Who's Winning the Election? What Every Indicator Shows on Final Campaign Day - Newsweek

I still think voter enthusiasm may have a bigger influence on the victor than its given credit for. Especially the late "Latino" swing in the swing states, along with the youth walks it like they talks it, a big game.

NC could be a surprise with things pretty much neck n neck via a record early voting.

Democrats have had a sharp increase in enthusiasm from 46% in June to 85% and Independents 34% to 54% which both "could" signal a strong voter turnout come tomorrow in the US.

The question is though 'who are republicans' voting for ?

Being listed as republican is not quite the same as being a card carrying, fee paying member of a party here.
You just tick a box.

This headline is an excellent Executive Summary:  😊

The Guardian - US election 2024 live updates: Harris ends campaign promising to ‘get to work’; Trump keeps Michigan rally waiting

Trump has finally arrived at his final rally in Grand Rapids, Michigan, almost two and a half hours behind schedule.

1 pm Wednesday NZ
Georgia will be among the first key states to close at 7pm US Eastern Time

7 pm Wednesdays NZ
Hawaii and Alaska will collect ballots until 1am US Eastern Time

Could take a month before official results. Trump and Speaker of the house Mike Johnson will try to create as much chaos as possible if Trump losing. The Supreme Court is sure to get involved in many, may Trump lawsuits, and is a wild card. Last time Trump and co brought 60 lawsuits.

Oh, come on, rallies gave us so much material to laugh at! "The weave" was just an endless source of WTHeck.
