More and more each day, President Trump is using his daily briefings as a substitute for the campaign rallies that have been forced into extinction by the spread of the novel coronavirus.
These White House sessions - ostensibly meant to give the public critical and truthful information about this frightening crisis - are in fact working against that end.
Rather, they have become a daily stage for Trump to play his greatest hits to captive audience members.
They come in search of life-or-death information, but here’s what they get from him instead:

... The news media, at this dangerous and unprecedented moment in world history, must put the highest priority on getting truthful information to the public.

FAUCI REPORTS THAT ALCOHOL HELPS PEOPLE SURVIVE CORONAVIRUS BRIEFINGS
WASHINGTON (The Borowitz Report)—Calling it a “promising development,” Dr. Anthony Fauci said on Sunday that alcohol helps people survive the most severe effects of coronavirus briefings.
Noting that millions of Americans have been exposed to the daily briefings of the White House Coronavirus Task Force, Fauci said that he had voluntarily submitted to a preliminary trial of the alcohol-based therapy.
“What we found was that a single dosage before the briefing and as much as a double dosage after the briefing do much to alleviate even acute suffering,” Fauci said. "However, additional doses administered during the briefings will provide the most relief."
Fauci’s findings are in line with anecdotal reports which indicate that, since November 2016, many Americans have successfully used this method to alleviate the stress caused by White House briefings on any subject.
