UKR was part of USSR/CCCP It became independent in 1989

Taiwan has never been part of China. The civil war sent Chiang Kai Shek to Taiwan leaving Mao governing China

What aggravates me is that we are talking about millions of people, but the reality is that its about two dictators, Xi and Putin. Playing global monopoly, As they cannot stomach an election where the people support them. No confidence or honesty.

My wife (Chinese) and I sent her Mum back to Wuhan, today, literally. Its been a farce. (Quarantine wise) As they and many others have said, the Govt, i.e. Xi are not interested in the masses. Its a first world country living a 4th world life, Russia is no different. The problem for Putin is that the masses are seeing the reality. As will Xi as he is not stupid.

For the West, China has lost a brother as he is wounded and poor, but the West wont play the same game and take over everything. Normalness will rule

The Russian masses should hope that the "everyone is equal but some are more equal that others" will neutralise Putin, and give them a future. Otherwise, enjoy enduring sanctions thanks to your "leader"

The Russian oligarch and former deputy chairman of the gas company Novatek, Sergei Protosenya, was found dead by hanging in April.

At the scene, his wife and daughter were found stabbed to death.

Staging a stabbing is really hard, as the stabber will usually get cut himself, which affects blood splatter, and blood usually leaves footprints, and splatter really gives a good indication of the events.

As usual with individuals like Putin who are above the law, he's not trying to hide the murder; he wants to send a message to anyone.

However, the latest episode devoted to the war in Ukraine has brought both praise and threats. Soon after the episode was published, Russian authorities banned it and asked the cartoon’s creator, Oleg Kuvaev, to remove it from his website because it "discredits the Russian Federation's armed forces".

The BBC has spoken to Oleg Kuvaev, who emigrated from Russia to Israel years ago and says 'there is no way to laugh about the war'."

Mistakes are made, mistakes are corrected. Not learning from mistakes would be stupid. But that still does not oblige us to supply the weapons to external warring parties that we ourselves need to fulfil our NATO obligations.

That is highly regrettable. Just as unfortunate as people starving to death and nothing being done about it, isn't it? Only they don't make so much noise and don't take your whole hand when you give them your little finger. We are not conceited enough to believe that the world will be healed by Germany and that we can do with weapons what the international community (UN) is failing to do (e.g. by playing veto games).

To a soldier who only has a hammer, every problem looks like a nail (btw: I was also once an active flying professional soldier). Sovereign states cannot be told whether to courageously continue the fight for freedom or to give up in order to save lives (which I am not calling for!) - they are free and sovereign in their decisions. We reserve the right to be so with our decisions on how and to what extent we help. Those who have nothing to offer seem to be fine, but should not point at others, should they?

The problem with your attitude and to a large part the attitude of the SPD is that you feel no responsibility for the political choices of the last 15 years, that has actively funded this terrorist government. This has turned into the blood diamonds of oil & gas, and German hands are dirty. Are you for example embarrassed by the policys and legacy Angela Merkel has left behind? You say mistakes are made, and your very pro fixing them for Germany - in fact you have said that multiple times, but how about going out of your way to assist the very country the policy of Germany has damaged, for financial gain. What do they want? More weapons, better weapons.

Consider this your moral compass, hey if you think Germany has done nothing wrong and owes nothing - I am never going to change your mind. But know this, the world watches, and judges. We are not judging Germans or Germany, we are judging your leaders and what they do, but more importantly what they dont do.

Angela Merkel belongs to the CDU and why should an SPD take political responsibility for what you think led to state terrorism for 15 years under the CDU? Oh wait, as far as my political leanings are concerned, you will only learn the following:

Not communist, not terrorist, not socialist, not national socialist, not republican, not capitalist, not neoliberal and not green. But allergic to anything that doesn't follow the sequence "think-push-speak".

Richard Shirreff, Former Deputy Supreme allied Commander Europe - More weapons, better weapons. Frankly its something NZ should relook at in regards to funding more via donation especially given the latest financial indicators that show we are not in rescission.

This episode of the Bulwark Podcast is well worth a listen to. Its with General Mark Hertling. He served as the Commanding General of United States Army Europe - now retired. His insights into where the Ukraine army sits now, how it got there, and where it needs to go was excellent. He also throws in quite a lot of stories and examples from his serving time, drawing parallels with the current Russian invasion. It is from 2 days ago, so up to date with current Ukraine positions.

I think you may be confusing this poster with me; it's me who is the "alleged" NATO serviceman, although I left UK some time ago and entered service with another country so ex-NATO is more accurate.
Anyway, it's been amusing to see the many and imaginative excuses for Germany's reluctance to support Ukraine in their fight for freedom, thank you for the insight. More encouraging are the recent news reports that Germany is stepping up to some extent with new commitments to provide equipment.
Countering that, this report on the German chief of defence and his bizarre statements on the conflict correlate quite well with your arguments. It does seem that there is a disconnect between your country's beliefs and those of other western nations.
