The thread title is factually wrong. I'm not sure where you got that information. The karman line, the scientifically accepted boundary between atmosphere and space is 100km. The test flew at approx 400km for the period it transited Japan.

This is undesirable and something to resolve, but airspace is factually wrong.

This missile flight was different to previous, it was not a high altitude flight like previous it had a low trajectory in order to gain more distance probably to ensure they cleared Japan and splash down in the Pacific.

Here is a crazy notion, lets give peace a chance.

This is perhaps more positive from Trump. At least its different. Putin also suggesting that getting nuclear off NK is futile. China has a similar stance, NK says non negotiable.

Thats been on the cards for a wee while. But I must be missing something. They complain about trade deficits. China the same, that example is 5 fold in China behaviour. Its because US citizens want to buy the goods, its not because Korea or China are manipulating the trade. So you either tell the citizens not to buy Asian goods? Or you make them yourself at the same price? LOL

What am I missing? Seems to me if the US cant manufacturer goods that its people will buy due to higher price, its inevitable that there will be a trade deficit. Or force Asians to eat more Sunkist oranges and corn???

You'd never really know what was at the bottom of that move (to kill KORUS FTA).

Lobbying is probably the problem - and Trump's put a lot of effort into claiming that he can rescue the US car Industry as part of his "MAGA", Korea exports a lot of cars to the US.

GM makes cars in Korea (GM Korea = Daewoo). They make things like the Holden C(r)aptiva. I'd rather have a Hyundai, any day.

"The White House said Trump gave Moon his "conceptual approval" for the planned purchase by Seoul of billions of dollars of US military equipment."

That will improve the balance of payments for USA, as it usually does.

Sound idea for SK to increase its defence capability? That makes the problem, more SK and NK than SK/USA and NK? If noting else, its a new idea to try

Putin. he tells the US to stop the exercises, yet he flies nuclear capable bombers over the peninsula as a show of power? Surely thats hardly helping. Thats encouraging a response as it makes this a Russia/NK and USA/SK issue?

Or fail, which for their missiles is common. Now, the odds of a failure and crashing into a populated area is pretty darn low, but would anyone want unreliable air devices flying over their house/town/country?

Launch is usually the risky part. I'd guess the probability of failure drops dramatically after a successful launch.

Here's a ground track map for the Space Shuttle STS-85. The SLA02 designation refers to an instrument carried aboard the shuttle on that mission.

I believe the height for that mission was approx 270 km:

Clearly if the North Korean test was at this height, it is not airspace.

It is undesirable, but the NK test at 400km did not pass through Japanese airspace.

If that was the case, then the shuttle mission lower in height and tracked above was passing through the airspace of every major country on earth.
