Edit: Apologies was not sure if this should be in political thread or not?

They were probably aiming for a totally different trajectory.

Here is a crazy notion, lets give peace a chance.

Its getting scary now!

World can't really sit back for much longer and watch. Not sure what they can do....but I am sure the west knows where these missiles are being stored and built.

Well, it seemed to have been launched in the direction of California. So I guess they got that part right.

There is also a lot of air traffic coming past Cape Erimo Japan, but that does not seem to phase Kim Jong either.

Through Japanese airspace or over it? Kind of depends on the trajectory.

Maybe not as far as California, but could easily strike other parts of the US.

No, this is not the start of things. The Japanese government issued a civilian alert, but they apparently made no attempt to shoot it down. Unless an armed missile unequivocally aimed at Japan (or Korea) lands there, I don't expect anyone to kick off a war, because although it's dangerous, it's a lot less dangerous than a war would be. South Korean soldiers are killed by North Koreans every year or two, and they haven't started WWIII over it yet.

It's got to come to a head eventually, but not today.

Has a range up to around 6,000kms just over half distance to San Francisco. They could in theory hit the US base at Guam. Hawaii is beyond the range as well.

Or Alaska, but that will probably take out more bears or moose than anything else.

It was a stupid act during a time of high tension just like the US/ South Korean exercises at this time. The leaders of all countries concerned need to grow up and stop being arm chair generals and lounge heroes.

Anchorage is within its upper limit of possible range but guiding it there would be another matter and I doubt they have that ability.

Unfortunately the only answer to North Korea is going to require force. Diplomatic hoohaa won't work with them. The bigger question is do we sit around and wait for their missiles to get bigger, or do we try and put a lit on them sooner rather than later.

Diplomatic solutions are always the best and there is still considerable scope for this to work if Trump and the US got the hell out of it. They are just as bad at the escalation.

The US should just say that they will defend SK and Japan if attacked, and step out of all other discussions. This is between North and South Korea, primarily, with China next on the list, then Japan, and Russia.
