nathan: It seems the biggest selling point for voting for Biden is, he isn’t Trump. Biden’s campaign is trying to rewrite history, no he didn’t :
-support anti-American worker globalization policies and TPP

Biden is a politician. I think most people are aware of this kind of stuff. The wind has changed in the Democratic Party. Is there enough groundswell to carry him with it? and how far? Hard to know. At least if you are voting JB you are voting for a cabinet with some new ideas in a different direction. Biden really does need the full support of the Bernie crowd to make sure of a win. In practice this means cabinet and administration appointments with policy outcomes.

There is a separate topic for Dem candidates...

Trump will now be holding his Parteitag rally in Jacksonville, FL, on the 60th anniversary of Axe Handle Saturday. Wonder if his followers will be in white robes to mark the occasion?

Edited to add: One of the many news stories covering this.

Same with his first rally to be held on the 19th "Juneteenth" (Emancipation day) in Tulsa - site of the Tulsa race massacre.

Both of these have "outs" against accusations that it's direct provocation - that it's "just coincidence" or "well - look how non-racist we are now, able to celebrate together - despite the past" (with some black faces in red hats and "blacks for Trump" tee shirts placed strategically behind the lectern in the Trump as Emperor show - to prove that he's "the least racist person in America").  Trump himself doesn't have the intellect to think of ideas like this, they're cunning dog-whistles designed to divide society by keeping his white nationalist and KKK buddies on side - and "own" liberals who point out what's probably really going on.  My guess is this is the work of Stephen Miller - if it's pure evil, then it has his signature.

Footnote to something else about these rallies - you want to get tickets - you've got to agree to a waiver:

By clicking register below, you are acknowledging that an inherent risk of exposure to COVID-19 exists in any public place where people are present. By attending the Rally, you and any guests voluntarily assume all risks related to exposure to COVID-19 and agree not to hold Donald J. Trump for President, Inc.; BOK Center; ASM Global; or any of their affiliates, directors, officers, employees, agents, contractors, or volunteers liable for any illness or injury.

From The TV late night show host Stephen Colbert:

“Now to be fair, there’s no way Trump knows that much American history.

I’m pretty sure he just told Stephen Miller, ‘Steve, pick the most offensive date and location you can think of and put it up there on my Hooters calendar

Trump officials “contend that the recent massive protests in metropolitan areas will make it harder for liberals to criticize him.”

“Nah, it’s still easy to criticize him. Black Lives Matter protesters overwhelmingly wear masks, and they weren’t protesting against wearing masks. Trump is specifically saying no masks. Though he might make an exception for a hood.”

Well I'll be damned.  Someone in the WH must have done some numbers - worked out that Miller's racist taunt might cost Trump more votes than it would win.

Good episode of Real Time with Bill Maher. Search the Internet for "Real.Time.with.Bill.Maher.2020.06.12"

Here's a 5 minute snippet called New Rule: Democracy's Safe Word. Adult themes.

Not explained is the reference to "blue wall of silence." It is in reference to the police (not to be confused with "blue states", the democrats.)

Contrarily "red wall of silence" is in reference to "red states", the Republicans.

"Bill wonders if we'll ever see a crack in the 'red wall of silence' that keeps Republicans from acknowledging President Trump's outrageous behavior."

Problem is, Trump replied to that tweet, and made it much bigger than it had to be. See:
https://edition.cnn.com/2020/06/15/politics/trump-white-house-showmanship-backfiring/index.html

Twitter went bananas, suggesting Trump looked old and frail. Which is, of course, what Twitter does.
But then Trump decided to drastically amplify the profile of the moment -- and ensure it became a MUCH bigger story.
"The ramp that I descended after my West Point Commencement speech was very long & steep, had no handrail and, most importantly, was very slippery," Trump tweeted on Saturday night. "The last thing I was going to do is 'fall' for the Fake News to have fun with. Final ten feet I ran down to level ground. Momentum!"

It's hard to overestimate the miscalculation here by Trump. Without his tweet, the video of him walking down the ramp is, maybe, a minor Sunday story. With the tweet, it's a BIG story on Sunday, with the potential to leak into a week that the President wants to be focused on the restart of his reelection campaign.
So, why did he do it? Because he is simply unable to be publicly portrayed as weak or anything less than totally-in-command at all times. So, even if he amplifies the criticism, Trump feels as though he has to respond to it. It's a disastrous political instinct.

I've got to say, watching that video it looked like someone walking carefully down a somewhat dodgy ramp. I don't often agree with Trump but in this case it's probably justified.

For sure, but if (for once) he had actually bothered to shut his mouth it would have gone away within 24 hours, but noooo...
