FineWine:

nathan:If I could do anything, I’d introduce term limits, ban gerrymandering, try to get corporate bribe donations out, Introduce approval voting, get rid of the electoral college, let released Felons vote, modernize the physical voting registration system, make it easier for other parties to start - Id love to see a Populist party comprised of populists like Dem AOC and Republican Matt Gaetz

You forgot a couple of things: Presidential candidate upper age limit.

AND

FFS get rid of the Lobbyist system which is the biggest (dubious legal) scam operation/system there is. Al Capone was an amateur compared to the lobbyists.

Can you believe the lobbyists actually have a lobbyist organization
A organization that lobbies on behalf of Lobbyists
The were one of the first companies to receive Small Business loans, because they are such professional grifters they got the aid in the first batch of Congress' relief package, before it ran out of money

You can't make this hide-in-plain-sight corruption up

The New York Times - Mail Delays Fuel Concern Trump Is Undercutting Postal System Ahead of Voting

today

WASHINGTON - Welcome to the next election battleground: the post office.

President Trump’s years-long assault on the Postal Service and his increasingly dire warnings about the dangers of voting by mail are colliding as the presidential campaign enters its final months. ...

In tweet after all-caps tweet, Mr. Trump has warned that allowing people to vote by mail will result in a “CORRUPT ELECTION” that will “LEAD TO THE END OF OUR GREAT REPUBLICAN PARTY” and become the “SCANDAL OF OUR TIMES.”

He has predicted that children will steal ballots out of mailboxes. On Thursday, he dangled the idea of delaying the election instead.

Members of Congress and state officials in both parties rejected the president’s suggestion and his claim that mail-in ballots would result in widespread fraud.

But they are warning that a huge wave of ballots could overwhelm mail carriers unless the Postal Service, in financial difficulty for years, receives emergency funding that Republicans are blocking ...

In recent weeks, at the direction of a Trump campaign megadonor who was recently named the postmaster general, the service has stopped paying mail carriers and clerks the overtime necessary to ensure that deliveries can be completed each day. ...

Voting rights groups say it is a recipe for disaster.

We have an underfunded state and local election system and a deliberate slowdown in the Postal Service,” said Wendy Fields, the executive director of the Democracy Initiative, a coalition of voting and civil rights groups.

She said the president was “deliberately orchestrating suppression and using the post office as a tool to do it.” ...

(CNN Business)President Donald Trump said Friday night that he will ban the popular short-form video app TikTok from operating in the United States, rejecting a potential deal for Microsoft to buy the app from its Chinese-owned parent company.

"As far as TikTok is concerned, we're banning them from the United States," Trump said to reporters while aboard Air Force One.

Trump said he could use emergency economic powers or an executive order. It was not immediately clear what such an order would look like.

Great, he has 1000 things on the go (including coronavirus) and he's worried about crap like this. It's all because of his stupid rally that he's banning it, otherwise he wouldn't care. Poor diddums.

What's he going to do next? Ban the next platform they use? Facebook? Love to see him try that one.

Mind you, he may have seen sense and not bother holding any rallies ever again anyway.

He is banning TikTok because he is a vindictive person and is frustrated because of the tickets prank on his stupid Tulsa rally.

Well done, youngsters!

If this administration was worried about national security and Chinese eyes, they wouldn't look at TikTok but all the Made in China infrastructure - routers, switches, computers, tablets, smartphones and even their smart lights and cameras - everything is made in China, Americans already lost this one.

Agreed

Trump is a spoiled little rich kid who demands instant gratification.

The Chinese play the long game - they are prepared to wait decades to get what they want - and they usually get it.  😕

The Atlantic

"Don’t Count Trump Out"

Polling could be wrong. The economy could recover just enough. He could announce his own October surprise.

Let’s stipulate right away that President Donald Trump is losing this race. Set aside the particulars—how suburban voters are migrating toward Joe Biden, and how seniors are rethinking their support too. Consider the basics.

Presidents are supposed to keep Americans employed. The jobless rate now stands at 11 percent—more than 3 points higher than when Jimmy Carter lost reelection in 1980 and when George H. W. Bush was defeated in 1992.

Presidents are supposed to keep Americans safe. About 140,000 have died from COVID-19, more than twice the number that perished in the Vietnam War, which doomed Lyndon B. Johnson’s reelection chances in 1968.

Presidents are supposed to attract voters outside their loyal base. Trump’s approval rating stands at 38 percent, according to Gallup; no president since Harry Truman in 1948 has won reelection with a number less than 40 percent.

So what—it’s over, then? Maybe not. Facing the combined calamities of a pandemic and an economic meltdown, Trump hasn’t collapsed. His base never really grows, but neither does it crumple, keeping him competitive.

“If Trump could shoot someone on Fifth Avenue and not lose supporters, he could also raise the dead on Fifth Avenue and not gain any supporters,” Charles Franklin, the director of the Marquette Law School poll, told me.

With a fairly reasonable following. That's what concerns me, although I hope the more sane readers can see through his love for Trump and make up their own minds.

Thankfully his Trump-adoration hasn't crawled into the Dilbert cartoon...yet 🤞

Trump has strong support. I have NZ friends and American friends who swear he's god's prophet. I wonder if there are non religious who support him. It seems to be about religion - not sure if GZ can understand this. It's not about science and facts.

NOTE DON'T group religion into one basket. Not not all religious like him in fact most religious friends think he's the devil.
