I agree that context makes all the difference. Biden was not referring to little girls of colour in a demeaning way, but was simply pointing out that all girls regardless of race could have the same aspirations to high office as anyone else thanks to the example of Kamala Harris. The cartoon is saying something entirely different and it is racist and sexist and deserves to be pilloried as such.

LOL @ 9 new cases is "a surge". I suppose 10 000 every day in his country he would probably call "nothing", going on his hypocritical values system then.

Rikkitic:

Pretty powerful convention speech by Michelle Obama.

A good speech from a wealthy celebrity, the least cringe in a night of cringeworthy moments.  I thought her 2016 speech was better, nothing new that we've not heard in 4 years about the "existential threat" of Trump.

If you watched CNN or MSNBC you were gaslighted into thinking hers "was the best political speech since Ronald Reagan"

Substance free, don't watch any of the 2.5 hours expecting mention of issues or policy, Bernie was the only one policy-centric speech.

The whole night was designed as a screw-you to the left progressive wing of the party.  Republican voters are more valued to the Dems than Dem voters.  It says it all having Republican Governor Kasich speak - a worker crushing, anti-abortion, deficit hawk, and speak the secret out loud: "Joe will never turn hard left"

There was zero affirmative vision from Day 1, hopefully during one of these nights of speeches we hear how Biden is better than Trump.
It shouldn't be possible to win just by saying "Trump is bad, this is existential, you have no choice but to suck it up and vote Joe"

The Washington Post - The 5-Minute Fix: The Postal Service backs down

today

All those big changes to the Postal Service that could delay shipping ballots are on hold until after the election.

The Postal Service announced that Tuesday, right as its leaders were getting pretty intense pressure from the public and from Congress for cutting down on mail delivery before an election that will largely be conducted by mail.

That means no more bans on overtime for postal workers, no more telling postal workers to leave mail behind if it will make them late, no more removal of large mail-processing machines or mailboxes.

It suggests the Postal Service will prioritize speed of election mail in November rather than how much that will cost. ...

*Giant yawn*

If you actually genuinely care about any of the things you were going on about and were genuinely keen to preserve them, no matter one’s dissatisfaction with the Dems, you ought to realise that you stand zero chance of getting anything better with Trump. It will only be worse.

For a start, Ruth Badger Ginsberg has a recurrence of liver cancer. One hopes she survives or at least lasts beyond Trump’s hopefully one term and the GOP lose their Senate majority. If she doesn’t and/or Trump wins, you can forget about any chattering about abortion rights because the USSC will be stacked with Neanderthals for decades.

Sometimes people just need to have a slightly more mature view of political than that of a child throwing his toys around because he didn’t get his way. Up to you whether you want to, I don’t know, do some political maturing. But I 100% endorse what others are saying - you are adding absolutely nothing interesting whatsoever and are frankly just treating this thread as some ranting blog.

one of the downsides of speaking about how a conspiracy is false, is, speaking about that reporting, makes you sound like nuts, to people who haven't actually read the reporting

Is Bernie "progressive" enough for you? Is NPR a tool of "the establishment"?

Urging his progressive supporters to back former Vice President Joe Biden in November, Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders framed the presidential election as an existential — maybe even apocalyptic — moment for the United States. (NPR)

Take my reference to getting a job with the I.R.A. with a grain of salt.  Same message as you're sending, but they were and probably still are much better at it.

New York Times: Trump and Miss Moscow: Report Examines Possible Compromises in Russia Trips

The Senate committee report says that President Trump may have had a relationship with a Russian beauty pageant winner. But investigators say they “did not establish” that Russia had compromising information on Mr. Trump.

Two decades before he ran for president, Donald J. Trump traveled to Russia, where he scouted properties, was wined and dined and, of greatest significance to Senate intelligence investigators, met a woman who was a former Miss Moscow.

A Trump associate ... said he believed Mr. Trump may have had a romantic relationship with the woman. On the same trip, another Trump associate ... told investigators that he and Mr. Trump “might have been in a strip club together.” Another witness said that Mr. Trump may have been with other women in Moscow and later brought them along to a meeting with the mayor.

Mr. Trump was married to Marla Maples at the time.

...The allegations about Mr. Trump were included in the fifth and final volume of a bipartisan report released on Tuesday by the Senate Intelligence Committee, which presented potentially compromising information that the Russians may have on Mr. Trump and could use against him as leverage.

But at the same time, the committee cast some doubt on the significance of the allegations, saying investigators “did not establish” that the Russian government actually had compromising information on Mr. Trump. The report also said there was no evidence the Russians had sought to blackmail Mr. Trump or others working for his 2016 presidential campaign.

The report justified the inclusion of the salacious details about the president as necessary to understand the threat of a possible foreign influence operation or whether misinformation was spreading that could harm the American political process. The details were in a section of the report about the Russian art of “kompromat,” or disseminating damaging information to discredit a rival or an enemy, which can pose a national security threat by targeting American officials.

The Russians are really, really good at this. The book "The Spy in Moscow Station" reports how a very attractive female KGB agent turned up at the door of the NSAs workroom inside the US embassy in Moscow, in the middle of the night offering them whatever they wanted...

BBC News - Trump campaign Russia contacts were 'grave threat', says Senate report

today

A Republican-led Senate panel has concluded that Trump campaign contacts with Russia in 2016 "represented a grave counterintelligence threat".

The nearly 1,000-page intelligence committee report laid out links between President Donald Trump's associates and Kremlin officials. ...

In response to a question about the report, Mr Trump told reporters: "I don't know anything about it. I didn't read it."

He added: "It's all a hoax."  ...
