Is Ukraine about to lose their internet? Looks like it is vital for their war effort, and looks like if Pentagon doesn’t front up with dollars Elon Musk is pulling the plug.

From someone who raises money and pays retail plus subscription for Starlinks.

Regarding the mostly paid for by Pentagon Starlinks that Musk wants a large monthly amount for.
He has never seen any of those, and all the ones he has seen come from donations like him or soldiers pay for them themselves paying monthly subscription.

Off subject, but it sounds like Ukrainian war could have unintended consequences for Azerbaijan, Armenia, and maybe even Iran.

Let's hope it doesn't result in a lot of mushroom clouds in the following decades.

I was reading an article over the weekend about the pressgangs and one of the people interviewed said he still had friends that truly believed that the Russian Government was totally justified in attacking the Ukranians, as they believed they were going in to liberate the Ukranians from fascists. They willingly signed up and then a few weeks later, spoke to him revealing that they'd just realised that it was all a lie and they wanted out.

As a parent of teenagers, I have to say that I just cannot imagine the horror that some of these people must feel after their precious children are simply scooped up off the streets and placed in harm's way with no ability to say no. It breaks my heardt.

It started off as a fake war, fake reasons. Its not a World War, but it is, and its going to cut the civilised nations off at the knees, all because of a 2022 akin to a past 1940's warmonger whose leadership was based on dreams and poor choices

Putting the nuclear issue aside, in todays modern world, when do civilised nations get to a point where 1 person vs 8 billion needs to be dealt with? IMHO ANY trade with Russian Federation needs to be banned. Choose your side. Yes, that makes China an issue, but while we all need China, they also need us, more than we need them

100%, or a 50 year old with disabilities. As per my link. When its that desperate, and when its all about saving face and nothing else, the nuclear issue is not an outlier. Small nuclear weapon aimed at a low population area, thats the general feel.

You can take the high road, but a point comes when thats getting almost as stupid as this idiot is.

The Russian expert talks about the "Caribbean Crisis." It's more well-known as the "Cuban Missile Crisis". In 1962 under President Kennedy the US and Russia came very close to WWIII.

From Wiki: In 1962, Vasily Aleksandrovich Arkhipov was a Soviet Naval officer credited with preventing a Soviet nuclear torpedo launch during the Cuban Missile Crisis. Such an attack likely would have caused a major global thermonuclear response.

CNN: Elon Musk says SpaceX has withdrawn request for Pentagon to fund Starlink in Ukraine

After the CNN report revealed the request [asking the US military to kick in tens of millions of dollars per month] and showed in greater detail that SpaceX is not solely responsible for Starlink access in Ukraine (in fact numerous international efforts funded much of it), Musk tweeted on Saturday:

“To hell with it…even though Starlink is still losing money & other companies are getting billions of taxpayer $, we’ll just keep funding the Ukraine govt for free.”

As of Friday, before Musk’s apparent about face, the Pentagon had in fact agreed to the request from SpaceX to pay for ongoing service for Ukraine’s government and the new request from Ukraine’s commanding general.

That funding request was for $124 million for the remainder of 2022. It’s unclear what the final amount or terms agreed to were.

“To be precise, 25,300 terminals were sent to Ukraine, but, at present, only 10,630 are paying for service,” Musk said Monday.

The SpaceX letter to the Pentagon on September 8 said the company had paid for around 70% of the internet service of Ukraine’s terminals – which is valued at as much as $4,500 per month – but had fully funded only around 15% of the 20,000 terminals. The rest was paid for by governments like the US, UK and Poland as well as private initiatives.
