MikeB4: The following is merely my feelings about this. I hope I am absolutely incorrect. I am not really seeking a debate just stating how I feel.
I don’t believe that any outcome in the November election can stop utter chaos in the United States. I wont matter if Trump or Biden wins the country is so badly divided that either outcome is going to be widely opposed and filled with suspicion. The divide down racial, ethnic, religious and political lines is so deep and so wide that avoiding violence and chaos is unavoidable. This unfortunately will not just affect the Americas the affects will be felt globally.

The US November will face a crisis as they did in April 1861 that will change the course of their nation. Spill over will be hard to avoid. The impact of this will see the globe experience not one annus horribilis but several.

As I have said before in these forums; "America gets what it deserves and deserves what it gets" but you are right-on that it will 'spill over'. The trouble is; "America sneezes and the world catches a cold". COVID-19 aside, at least with Joe Biden as President I feel he will strongly attempt to repair Trumps & Pompeo disastrous international diplomacy and the absolute ignorance and wreaking of geo treaty's and agreements that have stood the test of time, all for the selfish nonsense of America first and stuff the rest of the world.

It has only been America's Might and the complaisant of UK, France & Germany and yes even China, that has prevented our World from going into another geo melt down. America used to be called; "The Worlds Policeman", Trump has in four years made it, America; "The Worlds Biggest Joke" and countries like China are leaping in to take advantage of that (eg. South China sea area). It also has allowed the likes of Brazil's President Jair Bolsonaro and Turkey's president Erdogan and similar Far Right and populist leaders to thrive (and be Trumpists). Their geo-polical ignorance and avoidance and the licking of each others derrière has torn apart international friendships, understandings and handshakes for which will probably take several US Presidency's to repair.

The latest Middle East Agreement may appear to be good news for the region but I fear it is a 'brave and bold step'. and if you read the fine print, it is all about SELLING American arms, technical and logistical assistance to anybody and everybody in that region. Money Money, makes the Trump world go around.

I am reminded of a "Yes Minister & Yes Prime Minister" adage where specifically, a "brave" decision was one that would lose you votes, whereas a "courageous" one was one that would lose you the election.

Lets hope that this is another nail in DJT's electoral coffin.

Whilst the difficult we can do immediately, the impossible takes a bit longer. However, miracles you will have to wait for.

Biden needs to pull America's head in and fix the internal problems first. Donald Trump is not the disease, he's just the festering abscess it caused. Until they've solved their own issues, there is no reason to think Biden won't be succeeded by Trump 2.0, Better, Faster, Stronger & Smarter.

There's no point attempting to rehabilitate their international moral authority while that is still a very real possibility. Hec, if he dies in office and Kamala Harris takes over the presidency ... well, you saw how they reacted to a black man as president. Imagine the backlash against a black woman.

Washington Post: My RNC review: Hannibal Lecter’s dinner party was visually sumptuous!

I am supposed to be writing about the Republican National Convention, but I’d like to submit this review instead; the content is essentially the same.

What a grand party! A delicious five-course meal! Dr. Hannibal Lecter surged from triumph to triumph.

With his showman’s flair, Dr. Lecter really crafted a striking contrast to the other party, where he reports that things are going very badly. He made a wonderful dish with fava beans and a nice chianti. Weird that the census in this neighborhood seems to have stopped for some reason, but I’m sure it had nothing to do with Dr. Lecter.

It is not my job to say whether what was happening should have been happening, or if there was anything in the feast to be concerned about, so I am here to tell you that everything Hannibal Lecter served looked AMAZING. This is the kind of uplifting meal that this nation has long been waiting for, and it was a sumptuous repast in every way, a striking contrast to the other dinners I’ve sat through, full of empty chairs, where people said in ominous tones that they were losing loved ones and didn’t know when the carnage would stop.

Throughout the dinner, Dr. Lecter made wonderful, uplifting remarks, like “This is lamb’s kidney,” and “This is beef heart,” and “I have an ethical butcher” — and it was not my job to evaluate any of those claims. What I can evaluate is the wine selection, and it was INCREDIBLE! It was even aged in a “special barrel," which Dr. Lecter said with a laugh that some critics have described as sinister.

Have I heard that Dr. Lecter kills and eats people? Yes. But at the party I attended, Dr. Lecter denounced people who seek to eat human flesh as monsters. Also, Dr. Lecter welcomed more than a dozen guests and DID NOT EAT ANY OF THEM! What an optimistic vision, the thing the country is craving right now.

I hate a sad party, and the other dinner parties I’ve attended recently were all remote, because they say it is not safe to go out in the night because of some sort of man on the loose who hunts fellow humans in a transparent plastic raincoat. At Dr. Lecter’s dinner party, I felt as though none of that was happening! You know, maybe it’s — not? I would sure prefer to think it wasn’t!

Is it my responsibility to be at all skeptical about anything that is happening? I don’t think so. The takeaway from this meal was clear: It was gorgeously plated. The sauce was drizzled into a beautiful arc, like the curve of a pheasant’s wing; the chiaroscuro effect of the lighting made Dr. Lecter’s cheekbones really pop. The soup was incredible, a rich maroon color, and the roast, which made an alarming screaming sound during the final stages of its being put into the oven, came out lovely and crisp.

How nice it is to attend a party where you can forget about all the death that is happening, and be reassured that you are not feasting on human flesh. Technically, it is not legal to eat human flesh, and I of course frown on it, but we can all agree that it’s a big bummer if someone shows up at your dinner party and says it has to stop because it is a crime scene.

This is a man who knows how to live. The how of the meal is so much more important than the what, which, again, I am assured was pork, even though he did say some kind of suspicious things about how the pork “had been rude” and “played the flute badly.” I don’t need to follow up. Not my job to disapprove!

I know for a fact that no matter what, millions of Americans will want to have what he’s having.

this is exactly what will happen, the Dems establishment as no intention to fix the policy issues you describe.  Probably even worse, since they're embracing 90s era George W Bush deficit and war hawk interventionists.

Voters soundly rejected a neoliberal corporatist ideology that Biden embodies, but both campaigns seem like that neither is in the business of winning right now

No, just a voter and taxpayer who cares about policies.  Politics is about policies, and its weird how this group doesn't want to discuss the policies that got Trump elected, just how offensive he is.

I have resolved not to interact with you again but I will give it one last go. Nobody here cares what you think about the policies that got Trump elected. Nobody cares what you think about anything. We have all heard it many times over. You are not going to change anybody's mind about anything. Maybe you should consider taking your Despair Squid mindset someplace else. I'm sure there are sites closer to home that would welcome you. At least for a short time.

Because his policies were and are offensive and very much self serving and which have ruined your country. Bidens' policies are; to get rid of Trump, repair the damage and reunite America (though I feel that will take several Presidents) and if Biden dies in office and VP Harris is sworn in, I feel she will offer a 'Ray of Hope'. Is or will America recognise that Hope and be brave enough to grab hold of it ?

HUNDREDS OF R.N.C. ATTENDEES TEST POSITIVE FOR DELUSION

CHARLOTTE (The Borowitz Report)—An outbreak of infection marred the 2020 Republican National Convention this week as hundreds of attendees tested positive for delusion.

While public-health experts have yet to determine the extent of the outbreak, the incidence of attendees experiencing hallucinatory visions appears to be widespread.

Davis Logsdon, who studies delusional epidemics at the University of Minnesota’s School of Medicine, said that multiple R.N.C. participants professed to see things “that are not actually there,” such as an intelligent leader, a strong economy, and a successful coronavirus response.

Describing another worrying symptom, Logsdon said that attendees who tested positive were unable to see things that were clearly in their line of vision. “On Monday, one woman shouted at the crowd for over six minutes despite the presence of a microphone just inches away.” he said.

Containing the spread of delusion at the R.N.C. will be “challenging,” Logsdon warned. “The most successful treatment for delusion is repeated applications of facts, but these patients have built up an immune response to reality that will probably prevent them from ever accepting truth. It's quite tragic.”

Nathan is trolling. He has been doing this for a very long time. Initially he was taken seriously, also by me, but he has shown himself to be uninterested in serious debate. His purpose is that of a troll, to create dissent and internal strife between members of the group he has targeted. In this he seems to be succeeding.

I agree he has not broken any rules and I have not suggested that he should be banned, in spite of the irritation he causes. I have merely pointed out that there are other communities that he might fit better with.
