Long overdue. The sooner they're gone the better. And - nothing changed, they didn't get their way in the end, which is good.

Of course, Tamaki and co will now allege "police brutality" or (somehow) claim "we won the fight!"...despite the protesters being removed with nothing changing.

Just my 2c, btw...no issues with protests, but when they're formed on the back of misinformation, that really rankles me. A protest about Russia invading Ukraine? Absolutely, get behind that as much as you can. This? All based on lies and nonsense.

GV27: Live stream on Stuff, tents being removed, some protesters throwing things and others trying to stop them from physically confronting police. What a total mess.

Do you have a link to the live stream? Can't find it.

Imo would have been far messier if they tried much earlier.

Earlier in the protest there have been incidents of shall we say non-professional behavior imo. Despite being the kind of thing some people here have advocated any incident should be assessed fairly.

I think it's live coverage rather than a live video stream.

Must say I'm kind of enjoying it, although sad that it has to take place at all.

Also kudos to Stuff for their coverage of these protests over the three or so weeks.  I participate in maligning them frequently but they've done an excellent job for these events.

There's people directly threatening them as well on the ground which must be fairly difficult to deal with, Henry Cooke ended up with Covid after covering the protests, etc. I think people really need to appreciate the value of having media who are prepared to cover hostile situations - the idiots trying to intimidate them are doing exactly what they claim to be protesting against.

I'd support legal protection for media and press gallery reporters in the parliamentary precinct and specific fines/charges in the event someone attempts to obstruct their work.

I hate to think how many of them have Covid by now. Where will they take the arrested ones? More spreading while being processed with 20 arrests so far. Feel sorry for the Police being exposed. It’s drizzling today in Wellington maybe a heavy downpour will help dampen down any floating virus.

I don't know why Newsroom decided to give a voice to Voices for Freedom. Aren't they loud enough and in-your-face enough already??

Well that's that then. That could have gotten really stupid with idiots lighting fires. Hopefully the Police have some nice hi-res video of them and they get a visit from them in due course, because a sea of nylon is the dumbest place you can imagine to start a fire.

Chantelle Baker and the other assorted media stars were good enough to provide evidence for the police. It’s very kind of them.

Apparently her Dad Leighton (another failed politician) was pepper sprayed and arrested.

Suggestion for the future, patterned concrete.

Paving stones really, these potentially cause serious injury or worse.
In our town we had people go on a window breaking spree while they were being laid, just for kicks.
They would not be laughing so much if paving flying in their direction.

Its not Polices fault if you escalate violence and they can't arrest you gently.
So protesters will risk very serious injuries then cry foul.
I think saw someone beating a Police officer go down, but you are literally attacking someone.

I think that there might be some with criminal associations looking for revenge on Police.
That would be great place for children to be in front line.
All in front of a line of Evangelical crosses, we see them for who they really are.

Hopefully Judges do back Police, and veer away from idea violence against Police is a lessor crime.

Well done to the New Zealand Police Force. Yes, I hope the judiciary follow up with appropriate sentences for those protesters who had to be forcibly removed.

There is a time and place for protesting this had got well and truly beyond that.

Seven police in hospital. Wonder if it’s over or a new mob will regroup tomorrow.

Judging by the videos the last lot weren’t exactly, bring them home to meet the parents material. One sartorially elegant fellow was wearing a faux fur pussycat onesie with ears.

One could say the grounds have been well fertilised in readiness for re-planting. A few citrus trees might do particularly well with the abundance of fresh Urea.
