The two opponents are in campaign mode already.

A bunch of MAGA-hatted nutters storm the Electoral College location, burn it to the ground, and declare Trump El Presidente for Life?

I think given what happened in 2020, security is going to be extremely tight this time around.

How are they going to ensure that some of the people doing the security aren't MAGA-hatters themselves?

I dunno, extensive screening? I imagine they would weed them out reasonably quickly, wouldn't they?

Not sure - recall all the stories a few years ago about neo-Nazis, miltia, and other far-right rubbish that was in the US police forces.

i fear that the court case has now given the Trump campaign 34x more ammunition. seriously, if they put a statue up for vote the dems and reps will vote for their respective parties but it has to be Biden vs Trump.

also i doubt this will stop him from running

Evangelicals, MAGA, Teaparty, Elon Musk, Peter Thiel and their ilk given Jan 6th, fake electors and everything Trump has done, are lost, there is no logic for them.

Its up to the rest to get out and vote and not fall for voter suppression campaigns and to also compromise.
They may not have the ideal candidate, but the alternative is Trump and his family perhaps forever.

Like the French Macron vs Le Penn situation,
Macron disappointed many and problematic in so many ways.
However the alternative was Le Penn!

There is no 3rd choice that can win, its FPP and your 'protest' no-vote is just makes it easier for Le Penn.

So you hold you nose and vote for Macron.
If you really care spend the term working to get better candidate to oppose the Le Penn's or such in future.

The ability of social media campaigns to issue targeted messages to silo voters is the huge threat.
Shield people from the big picture by repeatedly hitting that they won't get their favorite want.
Sure there is a lot wrong on both sides of FPP Politics in USA, influence and lobbying.
The alternative offered is Trump though, who will take away a chance of a better future.

Trump does have the big money behind him.
The wealthy 'would be oligarchs' and autocrats across the world wanting USA to be like them to show
'this is the way'.
Even North Korea can see a President that is more interested in a hotel/resort/golf project in North Korea than human rights.
https://edition.cnn.com/2019/02/28/politics/donald-trump-otto-warmbier-kim-jong-un/index.html
Once the potential of personal gain is dangled
Gives them a pass on death and probable torture of a US citizen and is shaky on bases in South Korea is a great President for them.

https://thehill.com/homenews/campaign/4730684-fox-news-poll-finds-biden-ahead-trump/

So Biden could maybe, just maybe, pull this thing off yet 🤞 mind you, while it's not exactly a resounding lead, it's interesting that it was a Fox News poll that still shows Trump trailing him.

Maybe the impact of Trump's conviction is finally starting to sink in for voters outside of the MAGA crowd?

What are the polls saying for the swing states? They are the only ones that matter.
