I expect it won't be much of a debate.

Probably just Mr Shouty, with same insane rants, ignoring counterpoints.
Healthcare, Infrastructure, Economic miracle, MAGA 10x, it will be easy. No specifics.

Trump has an easy time, he just repeats his slogans and slurs.
Any questions just punch back with 'it will be easy' then the same repetitive script and ignore the point.

Blame people from S__hole countries for everyone's woes, and raise the specter of threat to you.
Constant rinse and repeat, just more of the same with more lashings of the evil other.

If you are on the other side trying to at least take the presenters questions seriously.
You will always be at a disadvantage vs just repeating a rant.

For audience of Americans that see this more as a blood-sport than thinking about what is being said.
Much less thinking of the track record of T when it come to getting things done.

Polls apparently show a good % of undecided/other, who can swing things so it may be down to what these do on the day.

You can see this on Youtube (and constantly on Fox) with video themes like "$ourguy destroys $theirguy", it's not about conveying information, it's about point-scoring.  And Trump is really good at that while Biden plays by different rules.  So Trump will most likely "win" the debate no matter how it actually goes.

At 1:25. I feel I am watching a train wreck. Joe is so slow, mumbly and diffident.

I noticed this too, although having said that Trump doesn't seem even half as cocky as usual without his beloved audience to play up to.

Who was it that didn't tell Joe that he mustn't stare with his mouth drooped open?

Any half decent candidate would have made Trump look a complete fool. Biden is not even half decent.

I really feel for the USA. The system is so completely broken they have ended up with some sort of parody of an election.

Apparently (from CNN):

Kaitlan Collins

Biden's team is telling reporters he has a cold, a sign they are seeing the concerns about his raspy voice tonight.

Post-analysis of this debate is going to be quite interesting.

Joe, with a very weak voice, is left with spending all his time trying to rebuff Trump's outrageous statements.

Trump looks like a cat who has eaten the cream.

I am depressed.

I will watch it later. That sounds a lot like Biden's team had no strategy.

The debate had been going 45 minutes before his team came up with that little gem.

I'm quite surprised with the CNN commentary about the debate, completely rubbishing Biden's performance. I expected much worse from him based on other things I've seen.

They say he got better towards the end, but both candidates started ignoring the questions and making personal attacks, so I don't see either as a winner in that regard.

They had a strategy, but they also had Biden.  Comment I just saw elsewhere was "two dementia patients talking past each other".

Its First past the Post system, so.

Its a pretty simple 'adult' choice.

One is dictator material the other is not, and will pass the baton on peacefully.

One would seek to make the President a dictator,
talked openly about it as well as plans for a more loyal cabinet who won't push back

One has a track record of reprehensible action leading to Jan 6th where they hoped to block certification of an election result.
No concern for law enforcement desperately needing help to protect the capital.
Pretty much setting the crowd against his Vice President.
Reluctant to call off the attack, and even then hours late and weak.

Biden mentioned a lot of numbers, so very easy for fact checkers to rate for memory etc.
So taking more risks, though Americans may not be interested in facts.

Strategy, do you get into trading ever more strident insults, and dump the facts?

Trump it was just we had best this, greatest this and that.
His statement that no one would have thought market would bounce back from covid, who was that no-one?
