Also - did the pollsters get it wrong again? What happened to Joe's "landslide" victory? This is hardly what I (or anyone) would call a landslide!
Sigh.
Of course they did. Basically a crystal ball was used.

Trump has tweeted. Sounds like he wants to claim victory before all the votes are counted (after today).
i called it first
Nope. It's been in the media for a week or so.

Lets have all the votes counted before we decide it wasn't a landslide for Biden. There are a lot of mail in ballots that have yet to be counted, and the chances are most of them are people that vote for the Democrats.
Which is exactly what Trump knows and is trying to preempt by going out early and declaring victory. It would have been better if Biden had a more clear win at this stage, but that does not mean he is not going to win. And from what I understand he already has a 2 million vote lead over Trump (and at the moment more electoral votes than the orange menace).

Just ask yourself how something can be handled as badly as possible and you will find what Trump will likely do.

Not really but most people can't read polls and don't have a clue about margin of error.
Most of the good sites were suggesting that the range of likely options were between a Biden landslide or a close result either way.
A landslide would have had Biden very narrowly winning a number of states like Ohio so the popular vote would still have been relatively close.

I can't believe how many downright stupid people there are in the US, that somehow think Trump is doing a "great job" as president. He is an absolute trainwreck, yet he seems to have a loyal following of morons who lap up everything he says. Note that I don't mean all Republicans, just the ones who hang on his every word/lie when he speaks, like he's the second coming of Christ or something.
in the last 4 years and last 4 months nothing has changed at grassroots level. the media we read isn't representative of that ground level. half the people there still hate the democrats.
to me it's a bit like NZ hates National and want Labour. (half) the Americans hate Dems and want Republican. you can put a monkey there and they'll still vote the monkey.
but i am sure Trump's divisive politics aka lies have made a lot of impact. but (half) the people don't want to hear from mainstream media, they want to hear what they want to hear.
post-truth still going strong. the cause of it? the internet. gotta love the internet.

Predictions of the second coming of the messiah (for various definitions of messiah) have been in the media for several thousand years. You just need to get in early enough and you can claim anything.

Including my wife's vote

That's just the way of the Electoral College sadly

Whoever it was said a few pages back that Trump would go peacefully and quietly? The counting of all the votes hasn't even finished, and he's already jumping up and down, talking about running crying to the Supreme Court.
I don't see Trump just quietly admitting defeat and walking away without a fight, not a million years.
Paul1977:Eva888: Watched Trumps speech and he looked worn out, serious and decidedly unhappy. Very unlike him. Was very surprised at how close it was after all the polls were negative for him. Let’s hope someone concedes tomorrow and this doesn’t turn into a protracted soap opera. But then...that’s American politics.
Trump will never concede, and if Biden concedes then it’s game over. No matter how it plays out I think we are looking at a Trump victory, but until Biden concedes we can at least hope common sense might prevail.
If Biden concedes, and then ends up winning, does Trump then win because Biden conceeded? I don't see what the point of conceding is, unless it is really obvious. eg National losing.
It looks like Trump could be a bit worried based on what he has done. But this sort of thing is what is has been doing for years. I just can't understand why he did so well due to the covid sitaution, except it does show that US could be close to some form of civil war in some states, because some people are just so disillusioned by the system.
Some people seem to see him as an Evangelistic figure, and we know how dangerous and powerful that is.
If he had got Covid bad, history may have been totally different. I think that was a turning point in history, because he has used it as a tool to help him.
if the vote counts stop exactly now, biden has 270 electoral college votes
as we speak, the count continues, so who knows who will win.
but i'll keep my crystal ball locked up for now
still calling civil war if Trump wants one - though it may not be under Trump's control if Q'Anon gets their way. i'm already seeing warning posts on FB about NWO if Biden wins ...
i said they'd vote for a monkey, well a dead person just as good if not better https://www.foxnews.com/politics/north-dakota-state-legislative-candidate-david-andahl-who-died-from-covid-19-wins-election
in Michigan the votes that are left to be counted are from counties where Biden is leading 65/34 %
