Just in case you need reminding (joke) of what a prize ass hole the outgoing President is, have a quick read of this:

"The president’s federal income tax records, obtained by The New York Times, show for the first time that, since 2010, his lenders have forgiven about $287 million in debt that he failed to repay. The vast majority was related to the Chicago project."

'Those who can make you believe absurdities can make you commit atrocities.' Voltaire

'A patriot must always be ready to defend his country against his government President.' Edward Abbey

Dislike him all you like. We've done this to death in another thread, he doesn't have the impact you think he does and he will be soon yesterdays outrage, we'll be on to a new one.

His impact is greater than you think. Self-appointed armed militias who feel legitimised by him are one example. Foreign policy disasters are another. But if that doesn't impress you, how about a growing pandemic that has already claimed more than 240,000 American lives due to presidential incompetence and rejection of established science? I can think of plenty more examples if you wish but I agree this has been thoroughly raked over elsewhere. Just don't dismiss my utter contempt of Trump as 'silly'.

I can view some of the more extreme statements people make, including yours, in whatever light I wish. You don't have to agree,
it'd be pretty boring I'd we did.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2016_United_States_presidential_election_in_Wisconsin#Recount

I thought I read somewhere that Trump (or whoever) requested the recount in Wisconsin and they had to pay for it - but I could be wrong.

In any case, I don't imagine that a recount for Trump is going to go from "he's only 4000 votes behind!" to "he's 70000 votes ahead!"...even though that's as much as what he would like to see happen.

Wait till the lawsuits reach the supreme Court. This is just a stall tactic while something more meaty is being planned

I haven’t read all the posts since last night, but I’m glad to see that it looks like Biden might get it, but still too close to call. Nevada and Georgia are really close.

Hopefully I’ll be proven wrong after all and Trump will be out.

EDIT: But how close this is just goes to show that a return the the status quo isn’t really going to cut it. After 4 years of Trump and it’s still coming down to a photo finish just goes to prove that the Democrats really learned nothing from 2016.

Ironically the pandemic that has claimed so many American lives may be what saves the rest of them from Trump. Judging by the results we’re seeing, if not for Covid it would have been another Trump landslide.

I cannot find a national count of third party presidential vote anywhere. Same for 3rd party congress and senate candidates and count for their national party affiliation. I expect the counts are tiny under 2% - so it seems like they should get 2% of the reporting instead of zero. It does not look healthy for democracy. I reckon @nathan will agree with me on this one : ).

I'm looking forward to this topic closing sometime around inauguration. Then we can get on to serious topics like which books will be in the Donald.J.Trump presidential library. Besides the many fine titles by Donald.J.Trump of course.

Watching Trump lose his sh1t on Twitter is like watching my kids when I take their iPads away.

Sad!

I'm actually really disappointed, I thought he'd have a far better plan/argument to try and hold onto this. I was honestly expecting him to be the one fixing the battleground states instead of just sitting back and bitching about someone else doing it.

538 is saying that Nevada is likely done in Bidens favour. Basically 2/3 of the votes are in Clark County (Las Vegas) and it's going fairly heavily for Biden.

About 50k votes left to go in Georgia. Trump up by around 14000. A lot of the votes are in Fulton County which is going for Biden 3 to 1.

I'd say the most likely outcome now is Biden getting around 306 electoral votes. That'd be him winning Arizona, Nevada, Georgia and Pennsylvania

Thats my pick. Many of thes evotes whether Blue or Red counties ar 70 to 80% Biden. Most of Trumps votes have already been counted

except that nobody seems to have done any counting today ... ? nothing's been moving since about 10am (NZT)

Counting hard, but it comes down to when they upload the batches of scans
