Joseph Goebbels is going. Oh, sorry, I mean Stephen Miller is going. Good riddance, you nazi.

SaltyNZ: I'm going to have to strongly disagree with you there. Quietly letting the bad guys go for the sake of 'healing' has been the norm since Nixon and every time it happens, the next lot of bad guys are worse because they know there will be no consequences. Bill Barr covered up Iran Contra and is now Trump's AG, and Oliver North is a Fox News host. Cheney and Bush (and Blair) started a war based on a lie so they could profit off the destruction, and now you can book them as your keynote speaker.
It needs to end. What the nation - indeed, the world - needs to see is that the criminals will be investigated and prosecuted to the full extent of the law. Justice needs to be done, and justice needs to be seen to be done.
Fair enough. But how do you do it when almost half the country will believe it's a witch trial?
You do it when and if you've got - and can present to the public - overwhelming evidence of the crimes.
At this time you can't say much is "proof" of crimes when the Senate has used their powers to block evidence being brought forward, and Bill Barr has stopped attempts at prosecuting him while POTUS. "Citizen Trump" loses those protections.
Fair enough. But how do you do it when almost half the country will believe it's a witch trial?

68 Million people voted for Trump. I think he will lose the election (thankfully), but I have no issue with him waiting to see if his legal avenues and recounts pan out. They won't, but I think he is due to the same process the Democrats would want in the reverse situation. Regardess of the process, even if that takes a little time (most of the legal issues will be squashed pretty quickly as the first few were), no change will be occuring for 71 days. It won't change what Biden does. He will prepare himself and his team to take over on Jan 20, 2021.
Sure, he can start legal battles everywhere. Won't change the results. If it was one state (like Gore vs Bush) that would be a good strategy. But not only he has to battle in five different states. the difference in each state is significant enough to not be affected much by any recount.
Gore vs Bush was ultimately settled in Bush's favor by a margin of 537 votes when the U.S. Supreme Court, in Bush v. Gore, stopped a recount that had been initiated upon a ruling by the Florida Supreme Court. This is not even close to what's happening here.
I give him all the right to go to courts. It's a shame the money being spent comes from suckers all over their country.

It's a little like that phrase, I despise what you are saying, but I'll fight to the death for your right to say it. I dislike his choice to not concede, to start a bunch of legal fights, but it's *legal* and he should be allowed to try.
Cannot agree. 60 M voted for Trump, that' correct, how many seats does he go from? 306 to probably 232 a mirror image of 2016 woith Biden on track to get 306. So in my view thats a big swing, which was the sole point Paul questioned
Now sure why you say he is due his legal avenues, no one is disputing that, he should do, as should anyone in close states. Its debatable if not conceding is wise though, the end result won't change, but it's not important, its not in law. It is delaying cross pollination of classified security info, but that's not the be all and end all.

It will be. But with actual witches this time. Or to be a little less glib - they need to make sure that all the evidence is put out there in the public domain, and if any has to remain secret for genuine national security reasons then they need to damn sure that they redact the absolute minimum. There will always be some who believe any prosecution is bogus - these would be the people who voted for Trump a second time - but that was never an option so I don't think it's something to lose sleep over.
Just make it 100% public so everyone can see how slimy they are and there can be no real dispute.

In an ideal world it would happen the way you want it to.
But unfortunately the majority of the world's population really don't give a s**t. They are really only interested in what the Kardashians are doing or who is going to the Superbowl or when it's payday.
I wager you could ask a large number of Americans the name of the next VP and they wouldn't know.
Over my lifetime there have been any number of prominent people who have abused their position in one way or another and only a miniscule number ever face any sort of consequence because the reality is relatively few people care enough or have the time and stamina to bring it about.
It shouldn't be that way but it is.

If that's the case then you don't need to worry about them screaming witch hunt, either. You prove it to a court, put them behind bars, and move on to the next one.

President Trump gives two thumbs up to supporters as he departs after playing golf at the Trump National Golf Club in Sterling, Va., on Nov. 8.
This is possibly the most unflattering photograph of Trump yet published - Mad King George? 🙃
The Washington Post - Trump continues to defy election results as world and some in GOP begin to move on
"As President-elect Joe Biden accepted congratulations from world leaders and a former president on Sunday, the man he defeated continued to deny the reality of a transition that was taking place despite his unwillingness to participate."
Sideface
President Bush has now called Biden to congratulate him. He says the election is fundamentally fair. IMO Trumps actions potentially could cause a lot of damage for the republicans going forward unless they cut him loose.
SaltyNZ:...There will always be some who believe any prosecution is bogus - these would be the people who voted for Trump a second time...
Unfortunately that's something like 70,000,000 people!
At least some of Trumps voters will be republican voters that would have voted for whoever the leader of the party is. As far more Americans voted this year, proportionally, didn't less people vote for Trump this time anyway? It is a bit like Trumps comments about Covid testing, the more they test, the more cases they will find. So the more voters that vote, the more votes both candidates will get.

That's just wildly incorrect.
Political polarisation in the USA is real, loud, and passionate.
You describe Russia, grim realisation that everything is corrupt and rotten, there's nothing you can do about it, so just carry on as best you can, don't get involved, ease the misery with Vodka or Krokodil, don't offend the Kremlin, the Oligarchs, or the Church, and maybe you'll be okay.

I think he is adrift now, and more each day. There has been GOP senator dissenters since early on as his behaviour and actions was not seen as appropriate. Id like to know how many voted for him and how many voted for GOP despite him, as they had to forward their Republican support
