I wonder what would have happened if he got another 4 years. Would he still think he could continue after 8 years and get a third term, or even try and change the laws etc around it, so he was in the job for life. He doesn't seem to like rules. When you lose an election campaign, you conced graciously.  I wonder how history is going to look back on this guy and who he will be compared to. I don't think history is going to look favorably on him.

It is also bizarre that it looks like he is going to arrange for more rallies. Doesn't he know that the election is over and he lost. He is like a bitter ex who can't get over that he has been dumped.

I also notice that the @POTUS twitter account hasn't been posted to for over 3 days, so suspect he no longer has access to that account.

quickymart:

Would the TV networks actually be allowed to show him being dragged kicking and screaming from the front door of the White House? Or will he just quietly slip out the back exit?

There's a number of tunnels under the White House. While it would be lovely to see him drag out by his heals, it ain't going to happen.

Best we'll get will be

either a complete description first by Trump tweet, alleging mistreatment and threatening lawsuits, then anonymous eye witness accounts. Melania will be rolling her eyes, and wearing her "I really don't care" jacket. Trump Jr and Baron will be crying. Jared, Ivanka, and Eric will not be seen.

or a hired propagandist photographing a several sets of staged "Trump leaving with dignity" / "I'll be back" sets, and releasing the photograph set that looks most fascist. Melania and Baron will be smiling with genuine emotion, because they think their nightmares are over. Trump Jr will looked like a crazed serial killer. Jared and Ivanka will not be seen

Yup.

Esper advised against using the US Military forces to quell rioting - probably because it's illegal to use US Military forces against US citizens.

"He that lieth down with dogs shall rise up with fleas"

New York Times: At least three people at a White House election party last week have tested positive, including Ben Carson.

At least three people who attended an election party at the White House last week, including the housing secretary and President Trump’s chief of staff, have tested positive for the coronavirus. At the event, several hundred people gathered in the East Room for several hours, many of them not wearing masks as they mingled while watching the election returns.

On Monday, Ben Carson, the secretary of housing and urban development, tested positive for the coronavirus, according to a spokesman for the agency, the latest in a long list of administration officials, including Mr. Trump, to contract the virus.

Another official at the event who tested positive for the virus was David Bossie, an adviser to Mr. Trump who was recently appointed to be the face of the efforts to contest vote tabulations in places like Nevada and Georgia, two people familiar with the diagnosis said on Monday. Mr. Bossie tested positive on Sunday and told campaign officials of the result. .

The third person is Mr. Trump’s chief of staff, Mark Meadows, who tested positive for the virus the day after the election, aides said, although he attempted to keep it quiet.

Was going to post it there, but she's "mainstream - Republican" enough to have been an elected Republican Congresswoman and a presidential candidate.

If a nuclear-armed state had held an election, the losing faction refused to concede, and the loser - supported by and encouraging a bunch of mad screaming religious zealots (with tens of millions of followers) to go postal...

I can't see a happy ending to this.  Too many of these nutters think they have god on their side.  There will be blood, religious extremism mixed with authoritarian politics has a grim history.

Fred99:

A prayer from Michelle Bachmann :

For those who have forgotten Michelle Bachmann was a Republican presidential candidate.

She has opposed everything from energy efficient lighting to college cost reduction.

She put forward a constitutional amendment that would bar the state from legally recognizing same-sex marriage, and wanted to fund a media campaign with government money to expose Obama's birth certificate.

She served for 12 years in the House of Representatives.
