My call for 2024.

Ivanka Trump vs Kamala Harris

Harris will lose.

Unless Biden dies or has had (and admitted to) substantial aged related mental decline, it would be unlikely that he won't run for a second term.

I agree that Ivanka could be a real possibility. I don't know enough about her to know whether she'd be any more or less dangerous than a typical Republican leader. She strikes me as the least crazy and most intelligent of Trump's adult children.

My call is that the GOP nominees will be people that may or may not be politicians, but they won't have any Trump like behavioural issues. I feel that Trumps will not be there. Surely there are plenty of other GOP candidates that have plenty of capability?

I honestly don't think so. With just a handful of exceptions, nearly all Republicans currently in office seem to have sold their souls. Hardly anyone is standing against the facism of the right. I think they have sold out in the worst way possible. The Republicans who actually believed in something other than self-aggrandisement seem to be gone. What is left is a revolting nest of vipers. I don't think they can come back from this. The best hope is a new party that respects original Republican/genuine conservative values. This one is a lost cause.

"White House tells federal agencies to proceed with plans for Trump’s February budget in latest sign of election defiance"

The White House budget office has instructed federal agencies to continue preparing the Trump administration’s budget proposal for the next fiscal year, according to multiple administration officials who spoke on the condition of anonymity to share details of private conversations.

The White House budget proposal is typically issued in February, which would be at least two weeks after President Trump is scheduled to depart the White House. He lost the Nov. 3 election to former vice president Joe Biden, who is set to be sworn in on Jan. 20, though Trump has refused to accept the results.

The decision to proceed with Trump’s budget for the 2022 fiscal year has rankled and surprised several career staffers given Biden’s victory, as well as the fact that the incoming Biden administration is expected to submit its budget plan to Congress early next year.

"Postal worker admits fabricating allegations of ballot tampering, officials say"

A Pennsylvania postal worker whose claims have been cited by top Republicans as potential evidence of widespread voting irregularities admitted to U.S. Postal Service investigators that he fabricated the allegations, according to three officials briefed on the investigation and a statement from a House congressional committee.

Richard Hopkins’s claim that a postmaster in Erie, Pa., instructed postal workers to backdate ballots mailed after Election Day was cited by Sen. Lindsey O. Graham (R-S.C.) in a letter to the Justice Department calling for a federal investigation. Attorney General William P. Barr subsequently authorized federal prosecutors to open probes into credible allegations of voting irregularities and fraud, a reversal of long-standing Justice Department policy.

But on Monday, Hopkins, 32, told investigators from the U.S. Postal Service’s Office of Inspector General that the allegations were not true, and he signed an affidavit recanting his claims, according to officials who spoke on the condition of anonymity to describe an ongoing investigation.

"Arizona election updates: Trump team suing county over voting asks to seal evidence"

What about no?

The attorney representing Donald Trump’s reelection team in a lawsuit alleging poll workers "incorrectly rejected" Election Day votes has asked a Maricopa County Superior Court judge to seal the evidence he plans to submit in support of that claim.

But lawyers representing the election officials being sued have moved to block the request, arguing the public “has a right to know how flimsy Plaintiffs’ evidence actually is.”

The Trump campaign filed the lawsuit Saturday alongside the Republican National Committee and the Arizona Republican Party, claiming Maricopa County poll workers disregarded procedures designed to give voters a chance to correct ballot mistakes. Though the plaintiffs claim the problem could’ve cost Republican candidates thousands of votes, county officials on Monday estimated just 180 ballots were at issue.

Ivanka is a no-hoper. She has about as much personality as a cabbage and the hard right wingers hate her. Don Jr is loved by the right and has a bigger personality than Trump himself. He's the obvious candidate.

I feel thats a bit too harsh, maybe a lot too harsh. Im sure there are Senators that are dead weight, that possess 1920's ideologies, and DEM s Senators that are a long way left and also out of date. To infer that GOP is out of anyone that is normal is a big stretch. At a very minimum are the many that have piped up opposing Trumps distorted values and behaviour since 2016. Thats your genuine Conservative lot, plenty of them. I feel they will dump all things Trump, as he is a liability, but other than that GOP is GOP just like Democrats are Democrats.

The Washington Post - ‘What’s the downside for humoring him?’: A GOP official’s unintentionally revealing quote about the Trump era

That's what Franz von Papen, Kurt von Schleicher, and several similar early-1930s German politicians thought about Hitler as well, we'll play along with what he wants but keep him well in check, no worries.

It's not just Barr dragging the Justice Department into politics, which they're not supposed to do, the Secretary of State has promised a smooth transition to Trump's second term, the White House is working on Trump's 2022 (not 2021) budget, and they're busy vetting Trump sycophants for appointment to positions during his upcoming second term.

The GOP has done very nicely under this President. They won't see this as a failure, even with only 4 Years. It will be a genuine fight for a second term for Biden.

Biden has clearly signalled (but not absolutely committed) that he'll only serve one term:

https://www.politico.com/news/2019/12/11/biden-single-term-082129

I wouldn't guess what will happen come 2024 - far too much is up in the air right now.

Trump could be in prison, along with others in his administration.  Trumpism is "populist" with very strong fascist tendencies.  The GOP is (or was) supposedly "conservative".  The populists have been dominant, they've been punishing conservatives in their ranks, either moral conservatives (ie not happy with Trump's unethical behaviour) and classical liberals / fiscal conservatives (ie unhappy with Trump's protectionist trade policies and fiscal mismanagement).  As soon as Trump is "citizen Trump", things will change, there will be more revelations about his administration once the fear of retribution from the tyrant is gone  At least I hope so.

And they have been purged and demonised, "RINOs" <- they even have a derogatory name for them.  How well did that work?  ~70 million votes says it worked extremely well.  That's how fascism takes over.

Can you explain why?

My call is that the GOP nominees will be people that may or may not be politicians, but they won't have any Trump like behavioural issues.

They will not only have Trump-like behavioural issues, they will be a Trump.

Why? The GOP is now the Trump party.

Over the last four years GOP totally capitulated to him, allowed him to capture their base (it's now Trump's base, not GOP's), so are stuck with him.

If forced out of office, he will still be very much there, tweeting away daily, appealing to his base regularly on TV, preparing for a Trump 2024 campaign for either himself, Ivanka or Don Jnr as nominee.

Ok, if GOP is now the Trump Party, resplendent with Trumps biases, and excess levels of racism, misogyny, alt-right and so forth, then it will be enjoyable watching a TV show vs any other party in 2024. I doubt it will go that far, lets see.
