The White House ruins after the conflagration of August 24, 1814. Watercolor by George Munger, displayed at the White House.

This might give Trumpy some ideas...

Fun fact. According to Ivana Trump it was her idea to name their first born Donald after his father. Donald Snr's initial response was "We can't do that, what if he's a loser?"

The Washington Post - With Georgia hand recount nearly complete, officials express confidence in initial results

today

So far, officials found discrepancies in just four counties that made a difference in the vote margin, decreasing Biden’s lead from 14,156 to 12,781 votes, according to the secretary of state’s office.

The rest of the counties either had no discrepancies, or their differences fell within the standard deviation and did not make a noticeable dent in the margin ...

geekIT:

“Everyone who leaves the White House has to participate in an exit interview,” she said. “That's been the case

with every one of the nine thousand people who left during the past four years.”

Is that a typo or is that the entire (Appointed) Administration? If it is just the White House "Executive Office of the President" then, apparently, it is only 1800 personal currently employed.

If it is just the EOP and it was any normal business that had that attrition rate they would be out of business. That is just stupidly ridiculous. (no pun intended)

Whilst the difficult we can do immediately, the impossible takes a bit longer. However, miracles you will have to wait for.

That was a satirical article, but hard to tell the different these days.

While 9,000 could be a legit number, it's also an Americanism, used for comic affect. Equivalent to a bunch.

Could also be an "over 9000!" reference, but that may just be coincidence since its unclear how many New Yorker readers would get it.

Perhaps Borowitz's humour is a little too subtle for some Zoners 😋

Wave your (nuclear) arms in the air like you just don't care.

Trump discusses airstrike or a cyberattack on Iran's nuclear facilities, but he (for now) listened to advisors.

NATIONAL-SECURITY EXPERTS SUPPORT TOTAL WITHDRAWAL OF TRUMP FROM U.S.

WASHINGTON (The Borowitz Report)—A broad spectrum of national-security experts support the immediate and total withdrawal of Donald J. Trump from the United States.

In an open letter signed by over three hundred members of the military and intelligence communities, the experts wrote that Trump’s withdrawal is “long past due.”

“After nearly four years, this conflict is over,” they wrote. “It is time to reduce the troop level from one to zero.”

“It is no longer in the interest of the United States for Trump to be stationed here,” they added.

The experts recommended that further steps be taken to reduce Trump’s footprint on U.S. soil, and called for the immediate withdrawal of Ivanka, Jared, Eric, and Little Don.

BUT

He is a little bit similar to Joseph Heller for which I have enjoyed "Catch22" over the years - The book (twice - better understood it later in life), stage plays and the various movies and TV series. Must say that the George Clooney series on TVNZ Ondemand was very good.

The Washington Post - As defeats pile up, Trump tries to delay vote count in last-ditch attempt to cast doubt on Biden victory

today   NO PAYWALL

President Trump has abandoned his plan to win reelection by disqualifying enough ballots to reverse President-elect Joe Biden’s wins in key battleground states, pivoting instead to a goal that appears equally unattainable: delaying a final count long enough to cast doubt on Biden’s decisive victory. ...

The toll of the president’s false claims on public confidence in the election was apparent in a new poll from Monmouth University * that found that 77 percent of Trump supporters believe Biden’s win was due to fraud.  ...

*  A third of the country is “happy” that Donald Trump lost the election – which is slightly more than the one-quarter who feels the same about Joe Biden winning.

The Monmouth University Poll also finds a majority of Americans are confident that the election was conducted fairly, although most Trump voters think Biden’s victory is due to voter fraud.
