Thats what NK wants, the the US is the bad guy, even though its the NK that is the bad guy. If China and Russia are happy to have a nuclear NK, as they have stated everyone might need to accept, the US is staying in the region. They want the US out and a NK that we have today is the exact opposite way to get them out

Put an end to it? It will be a multi nation war, with potential nuclear fallout across the northern hemisphere

The US out of NK means SK is invaded. Don't you believe the US should be protecting its alies?

As I have stated, when NK is non nuclear. Moving out of the region when its more peaceful does not mean not protecting them

Unfortunately a war is looming anyway. Doing nothing is not an option. I would much rather see a huge war, where NK is on the defensive, and war happens inside NK, instead of leaving things to fester, resulting in a bigger blowout with NK on the attack with SK, Japan the US etc. Crazy

MikeB4:

An invasion would would be a disaster, even Trump is not that stupid and his Defence chiefs would advise against that. I guess it's easy to be gung-ho in the relative safety of NZ

I agree. But an attack from NK would be more of a disaster. I don't believe its right to site back and wait for an attack. An attack from NK is imminent, and its coming. If so, China wont intervene, and NK can get what coming to it

MikeB4:

China has repeatedly said a first strike on NK by the US would not be tolerated Even SK has repeatedly said no to that. It would end extremely badly.

China has little to lose if things go pear shaped between the US and NK. China can basically throw its whole economy out of the window of they decide to defend NK. China can't afford that.

North Korea isn't going to suddenly invade South Korea just because the US moves everyone out. For one thing, South Korea isn't exactly defenseless, and for another the US would come straight back, as would everyone else, and I think that at that point even China might send in some special forces to personally express their disappointment directly to Kim Jong Un's head.

As somebody has already mentioned, there are treaties in place. The US cannot, and should not just ignore them.

I think its a very good option. It keeps the US out of the activities, so if it goes belly up, they can jump in without being seen as aggravating it

While it appears the US is hamstrung. in fact Russia, China And NK are hamstrung, as they want the US out, but everything that has been done, or not done has had the opposite effect. They may as well hold up a sign saying we are staying forever, as that's the only option you three have let happen. Leave it in their court, they are the ones missing out on their key objectives

So what you are saying, we should all do nothing, allow NK to better its nuclear program, and once they have everything ready, we wait to see if it goes belly up? If NK is ready with nuclear, there will only be one or two strikes. It will mean millions dead, possibly in multiple countries (The US/Japan/SK). It will possibly rule out war too, nobody is going to be sending troops to places which are nuclear contaminated. The only answer is to stop it before it happens. It has to be stopped, and this should be the primary focus. Not sitting around waiting for an imminent strike.

SK has done a live fire exercise in response to the nuclear test. Yep, let them sort it out. That response is fair IMHO. The perpetrator is at fault, not the responder, as long as SK keeps it that way

Stopping it before it happens is silly, invading will encourage an all out war between all nations, and nuclear. How has the war been the last few decades? It hasn't, and its not now. If they attack first and if they use nuclear, Pyongyang will be leveled, and his palaces and his jet and his superyacht. The regime will end. Thats nit what they want, read Amanpours article

I'm not suggesting they would. Just that the hypothetical scenario where there was no permanent US presence in SK would not instantly precipitate a North Korean invasion.

Too late for all that. Screw China and Russia for allowing things to get this bad. USa has very strong allies that it must protect via treaties (SK and Japan). It is the US, Japan and SK that will determine what happens next and it has passed words. 5 years of heavy attempts at words have failed. NK just wont listen to reason and that has to be the largest warning that NK will strike first, and it will be soon.

First step is for US to bonb NK side of China to destroy all supply lines form China, using conventional bombing. This needs to happen now before NK can launch anything. Hopefully the effect of this would be to force NK to the table.

China has repeatedly said a first strike on NK by the US would not be tolerated Even SK has repeatedly said no to that. It would end extremely badly.

China says a lot of things but all very meaningless. China could have been much stronger a long time ago. Where do you think all the supplies and technology came from for these arms?

The allies must act within the next few months and it must be decisive in order to force NK to start talking before it can launch a real weapon.

I agree, and if the US did pull out, that's on the basis of peace in the region, or at least peaceful co existence.

What Allies?

Here is a crazy notion, lets give peace a chance.

Its time to send in the troops and put an end to it.

I have stopped responding to your silliness but I can't let this pass. It is one of the dumbest statements I have ever seen here. Do you have any idea what sending the troops in would do? What the consequences of that would be? How many people would be sent to their death? I think you have no concept of warfare or the misery it entails. You have seen too many video games and westerns. Going to battle, killing real people, being killed, suffering, civilian casualties, mass destruction, starvation, disease, all of it, there is no John Wayne  'send in the troops and put an end to it' as you seem to think. There is no tall stranger riding into town with a big stick to clean things up here. The North Koreans are a formidable foe. They have spent decade preparing for war. They fought the combined might of the USA and the United Nations to a standstill once. There is a reason that war still isn't over. Each and every one of them will fight to the death with whatever they have available to protect their country and their leader. If you seriously think you can 'send in the troops and put an end to it', there is something seriously wrong with your thinking and your understanding of the world.
