Putin fishing for claps.
The awkward silence as he ends his speech, trys another ending, and another.
Then almost an apology that he will not be meeting with anyone due to quarantine restrictions.
So he met with random people a few weeks ago in Maruipol ?

At 1min 25 onward.

Some recent reports on the wealth that Moscow ROC ( Gods KGB ).
Maybe they were key part of the 'Ukraine will just fold' intelligence network.

The KGB ran the Russian church even in Soviet times, but this is different, it's a metropolitan owning a small farm somewhere. They fail to mention that unlike the Catholic (principally) church and its offshoots, orthodox churches aren't run as a big business. Orthodox priests typically have full-time day jobs and only perform church duties as required, so a priest could be a plumber, a policeman, a librarian... I don't know about this specific case and whether it applies to the metropolitan as well, but owning a small farm isn't exactly a major scandal. Next thing they'll be saying he's living with a married woman and even has three children with her.

Putin Was Waiting on 'Wink' From Donald Trump To Seize Ukraine: Author
BY ELLIE COOK ON 4/10/23 AT 6:51 AM EDT

Russian President Vladimir Putin was waiting on a "wink" from former U.S. President Donald Trump to seize parts of Ukraine—years before Russia launched a full-scale invasion—according to a new interview.

Written correspondence between former Trump campaign chair Paul Manafort and Kremlin aide Konstantin Kilimnik discussed Putin claiming part of Ukraine, saying that a "wink" from the Republican former president was needed to "make this work," former Mueller prosecutor Andrew Weissmann has said.

Speaking with PBS' Firing Line and host Margaret Hoover, Weissmann said this was "such a clear indication of what Vladimir Putin was trying to do."

Two news items from Russia

One, Russian currency fell more than 5% last week to hit its lowest level in almost a year.

Two, France24: Russia’s electronic draft: As soon as they hit 'send', you've been called up

When Russian authorities announced a “partial mobilisation” last year to reinforce their military objectives in Ukraine, thousands of reservists immediately knew what it meant – they would be sent to war.

To avoid being deployed, thousands left Russia or tried to hide from recruitment agents at home. For many, their strategies worked.

Now the Russian government wants to put a stop to that with a new electronic draft system that will be almost impossible to dodge.

“Once the ‘send’ button has been clicked, you’ve been called up,” is how one military expert on Russian warfare explained the new system.

I've been watching TVP for a while, some quite interesting articles on there regarding the war and also other European-centric news articles from their (Polish) point of view which is also quite fascinating vs how you would see those topics presented from an NZ/UK/USA point of view.

I will say (with no personal professional broadcasting/filming knowledge) that the TVP guys do seem to have an utterly bizarre amount of camera angle changes during their studio broadcasts. They seem to look left and right more than a spectator at Wimbledon! :D

If you look at some Asian news and TV you often get a technicolor storm of distracting text or advertising.
So Poles are quite restrained by that measure :-)

There are some sort of other marks that would ID the printer.

With that combination of interests I'm surprised it wasn't Parler.

Yup, that'd be about right.

Quite far right, actually.

It's somewhat specialised stuff, it has to work over a wide temperature range, so stay liquid at very low temps, still be stable at high temps, and have a very high breakdown voltage, it's not just 3-in-1.

Also Russian troops have a long track record of shipping anything and everything they can grab back home, so anything removable is a potential target.

I once read they stripped Berlin of toilets at the end of WWII. They took them home to cook potatoes in.

Hadn't heard that one before, Stalin's orders were to strip Germany of everything usable (the Allies had a different approach, destroy everything usable which went on until at least 1946) but I don't think that included toilets, it was more industrial equipment and technology. Red Army troops did famously steal lightbulbs to take back home so they could magically have light in their homes without needing to burn oil.

I was once shown some very fine physics texts with amazing full-colour (in 1930s publications) diagrams, with the comment "looted by Red Army in 1945".
