The Washington Post - Trump sabotaging GOP on his way out of office with push to overturn election

today

President Trump is effectively sabotaging the Republican Party on his way out of office, obsessed with overturning his election loss and nursing pangs of betrayal from allies whom he had expected to bend the instruments of democracy to his will.

Trump has created a divide in his party as fundamental and impassioned as any during his four years as president, with lawmakers forced to choose between certifying the results of an election decided by their constituents or appeasing the president in an all-but-certain-to-fail crusade to keep him in power by subverting the vote. ...

[According to one of Trump’s closest advisers, speaking anonymously] :

Fueling the president’s indignation is his belief that he is the true victor because that is what the advisers in his ear continue to tell him.

He incontrovertibly thinks he won - and he thinks he won big - and the people around him don’t disabuse him of that because they don’t want to get crosswise, and because they told him he was going to win, so they can have it both ways,” this adviser said.

“It’s not about his inability to move on. It’s about his inability to even diagnose what happened. He won’t yet conduct the autopsy, if you will.” ...

After days of watching Trump toss hand grenades at fellow Republicans, party officials said they were deeply concerned he might veer off script and continue his destructive antics onstage Monday night in Georgia, at a rally on the eve of runoff elections that will decide which party controls the Senate.  ...

Does anyone else think Rowley Birkin QC would make a better, more coherent, leader than Trump?

L. Lin Wood (a lawyer) is Trump's cheerleader. Just read this tweet and you will see what QAnon does to people:

I believe Chief Justice John Roberts & a multitude of powerful individuals worldwide are being blackmailed in a horrendous scheme involving rape & murder of children captured on videotape.

I have the key to the files containing the videos. I have also shared this information.

This blackmail scheme is conducted by members of 10 of world’s most well-known & “elite” intelligence agencies.

One of those groups was hacked by a group known as Lizard Squad. The blackmail files of rape & murder were obtained by this group & copy was provided to Isaac Kappy.

Consider the alternative though, what if he had someone like Antonin Scalia or William Rehnquist as his lawyer? Far better for Bozo the President to have Bozo the Clown as his representative(s) in court.

When does Georgia start reporting their results? Today or tomorrow?
I know Michael Pence does his thing tomorrow, and Trump "won't like him as much" if he doesn't follow his lead and say the election was invalid. Oh, boo-hoo, diddums.

Trump said he plans to go to Scotland before Biden's inauguration, to play golf. First Minister Nicola Sturgeon: "I hope and expect that – as everybody expects, not everybody necessarily will hope – that the travel plan immediately that he has is to exit the White House."
