Some really alarming opinions from attendees, post-the-event here:

https://www.stuff.co.nz/world/americas/donald-trumps-america/300202646/behind-the-grievances-disillusionment-of-the-us-capitol-mob

Some I saw in there (I felt) came across as arrogant and entitled, and don't feel they did anything wrong at all.

I reckon Reagan would have been disgusted by these so-called "Republicans". Hell, even George HW Bush would have been dismayed to read some of the comments made by them.

freitasm:  Trumpers hate science.

John George Trump (1907-1985) was an American electrical engineer, inventor, and physicist.

The Washington Post - May 4, 2020  Trump says he shares his famed uncle’s science genius. A friend says the uncle ‘would have been horrified.’

Nobody could accuse Donald Trump of being a scientific genius - except Donald Trump.  😕

freitasm:  Historian telling about the "Stop the Steal" (original tweet thread below, all in one page here):

4) There were no clear crowd rules imposed for Stop the Steal like there were for all the other protests we have attended.

Most organised timetabled city approved large protests have voluntary crowd marshals appointed and trained by the organisers. Usually wearing an official safety vest with 'Marshal' on the back or something similar. In an instance where crowd issues occur the marshals will typically be trained to run forward and tell the individuals things like 'stop doing that, that's not what we are here for', 'you're making us all look bad' and things like that.

Not sure what happened here. Some news items mentioned people with megaphones saying the opposite kind of thing although personally I haven't seen any video.

The Washington Post - Outgoing Capitol Police chief: House, Senate security officials hamstrung efforts to call in National Guard

breaking

Two days before Congress was set to formalize President-elect Joe Biden’s victory, Capitol Police Chief Steven Sund was growing increasingly worried about the size of the pro-Trump crowds expected to stream into Washington in protest.

To be on the safe side, Sund asked House and Senate security officials for permission to request that the D.C. National Guard be placed on standby in case he needed quick backup.

But, Sund said Sunday, they turned him down.

In his first interview since pro-Trump rioters stormed the U.S. Capitol last week, Sund, who has since resigned his post, said his supervisors were reluctant to take formal steps to put the Guard on call even as police intelligence suggested that the crowd President Trump had invited to Washington to protest his defeat probably would be much larger than earlier demonstrations. ...

Why are we not surprised by this?

Can't help thinking that the FBI, after all the denigrating they have experienced, are really really enjoying this last assignment! Go the FBI.

Traitors have stupidly self-doxed by tagging photos of their fellow traitors, and posting it on social media. Sure makes law enforcements job easy. There are a number of websites doxing every traitor they can. I won't post them here, but easy to find. So, yeah, their lives are ruined.

Philadelphia Inquirer: Philadelphia police detective subject of Internal Affairs investigation after allegedly attending D.C. rally

A Philadelphia police detective from the unit that investigates the backgrounds of potential recruits has been temporarily reassigned based on a tip that she attended the rally in Washington where President Donald Trump incited his followers to storm the Capitol.

Detective Jennifer Gugger was removed from her position in the police department’s Recruit Background Investigations Unit on Saturday after Internal Affairs received social media posts indicating that she had been at the Wednesday event, departmental sources said.

...In a screenshot of a Facebook post that has since been taken down, but was reviewed by The Inquirer, Gugger, using the name Jenny Lynn, tagged friends she said were at the rally and posted photos of the Washington Monument and a small crowd on the street.

kingdragonfly: “Please be advised that the information circulating on social media claiming to be from Acting Pardon Attorney Rosalind Sargent-Burns is inauthentic and should not be taken seriously.

Which was a monumentally stupid thing to do, now they'll actually have to go out and find all the insurrectionists instead of waiting for them to turn themselves in. I bet the FBI is livid over them denying it.

Here's a tip for future terrorists: don't get photographed wearing your work ID badge.
