The Washington Post - Trump prepares to offer clemency to more than 100 people in his final hours in office

today

President Trump is preparing to pardon or commute the sentences of more than 100 people in his final hours in office, decisions that are expected to be announced Monday or Tuesday ...

Trump met Sunday with his son-in-law, Jared Kushner, daughter Ivanka Trump and other aides for a significant amount of the day to review a long list of pardon requests and discuss lingering questions about their appeals, according to the multiple people briefed on the meeting. ...

A whole lot of grifting going on!

geekIT:

About this whole sorry-assed Trump business, one thing puzzles me more than any other:

Americans have, over the course of many, many years, gone to a great deal of trouble to rid themselves of a King-Emperor.

But now it seems that a goodly-sized chunk of their citizenry wants to reinstate a new absolute monarch.

Crazy or what?

Not a goodly size at all. A vocal minority. Squeaky wheel. Ive been there  a lot, stayed there a lot, they are very polite and very respectful and very friendly. But you won't find that at most stores as there is a lack of trust. Over insulated to America, over religious, and very racial (like NZ and all others). Dont believe that 74 million voted for Trump as they love him. Most voted for Republican as thats their party, despite him. Although I fear for Florida as that will become Trumps Utopia. When you look at all the support Trump has, and all the yakkity yak on Twitter and all the insults, and yet he got pummelled in the election. Because Democrats sorted Democrat, Republicans sited Democrat because of Trump, and as expected many Republicans voted for him as they had to. How many invaded the Capitol? 500,000? No, bugger all of the 74 million. He would do well in North Korea as inciting matters not facts.

So far, little sign of rabid right demonstrations in state capitols. That is a Good Thing.

Im not seeing it. Too much security, too few idiots, IMHO its a squeaky wheel unleashed. I read today Rump has reached his lowest support % level. The election was a landslide against him. No issue with Dems that voted Dem, Repubs that voted against Trump, Repubs that voted for their party. Thats democracy, but democracy took him out, bigly.

I imagine if he still had Twitter he would be absolutely beside himself about being turned down by the Pentagon. What was the reason they said no? He's a self-centred f'wit?

Also, I'm worried about the alt-right thugs screwing up Joe's inauguration. Yes, granted, there are hardly any signs of them around at the moment - but he's not being inaugurated until Wednesday morning (our time). Still a couple of days yet.

freitasm:

"Nobody shows for 'MAGA Drag' from New Haven to Hartford"

They may want to rethink the name. I discovered "MAGA drag" had to do with impeding traffic flow.

But honestly I thought they were talking about MAGA supporters in drag.

Before watching this video, perform the Bacchus Maneuver, so you don't choke on your own vommit.

Maybe three options on the 20th

1. There is a problem and it IS A PROBLEM (re another attack)

2. There is a problem and its snuffed out quick smart. (because of a small number of amateur no hoper idiots)

3. There is no problem.

Im picking 2 + 3

He's about to become the only American leader in a century with more than 400,000 deaths from one event on his watch.

While its impossible and also unfair to place that number on his head there is a HUGE number on his head. A normal person with that on their head would be in the corner sobbing. But to this low life, its just a number. Its actually bordering on a crime of humanity. Treating lives like that.

"What's so troubling about this loss of life is it was preventable," said Steven Woolf, director emeritus of the Center on Society and Health at Virginia Commonwealth University. "This is an infectious disease we knew how to prevent, and as difficult as it is, far easier to solve than defeating Nazi Germany. And yet, we did not mount a response to wage war against this virus as we have in these other situations."

Well, I don't know. We Germans are known for our (allegedly) lack of humor and we certainly won't have any events. Nonetheless, I have a bottle of champagne in the fridge to toast with my wife in the evening - not because of the end of the era of an omnimedial idiot. ;-)

What's worse (IMO) is he thinks his government's response to the coronavirus pandemic was "fantastic" and remember, "we're turning the corner", a phrase he must have repeated at least 700 times...all the while, the number of deaths just grew and grew and grew. Must be a pretty big corner.

As I said, I most certainly don't blame Trump at all for coronavirus coming to America. But what did he do about trying to prevent it from getting worse? Answer: as little as possible, more likely nothing (unless you count lying about its deadliness, of course - remember "it's just a little flu"? I do.)

Lol danke schon. I meant coverage at the Hauptstadt der USA! (I googled that but I did german for 3 years at High School)

Id like to watch the pre Inauguration and speeches, not so much the celebrity celebrations. Although Lady GAGA is a better watch than Lad MAGA!

He is a liar. No matter what he did, whether it be the virus or how far he can pee, he is the best, its been great, everyone says that....

I watched it. Well done, I say. I'd rather spend time with her than Melania Trump.
