Paul1977:

I hope his arrogance means he'll ignore advice and testify.

They'd have to present what will be said about him in such a manner that he's goaded into testifying. Agreed that he'd want to use it as a platform for his rants, but you'd need to bait him just right...

It hardly matters what he says there. 2/3 majority is required for conviction.

Oh, sure, he'll never be convicted, but the reason why the Dems have gone through the process is to get all the evidence presented and on public record, which they were prevented from doing in the previous impeachment. The point is to create a public record, they know they can't get a conviction.

Are the votes secret, or does everyone know how everyone else votes? If they were secret without the fear of backlash I think a conviction might be possible.

McConnell said he didn't think Trump should be impeached, but now that he has been I still think there's a chance he'll vote to convict. And if McConnell votes to convict it's likely enough would fall in line behind him even if the votes aren't secret.

At the moment I'd guess 30% chance of conviction.

No, public votes just like any other. Which is also part of the point: they will again have, on record, all the Republicans who saw all the evidence and decided to acquit anyway.

If that's even worth anything: those who vote to acquit and their supporters will likely see the record as a positive thing. At best they seem to be a lot more afraid of losing their jobs than they are ashamed to be associated with Trump, even now.

Just look at the vote over that QAnon woman in the House - only 11 Republicans voted against her.

SMH...

The Screen Actors Guild — American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA) annouced it would bring Trump before Disciplinary Committee, in a first step to revoking his memebership.

Trump interjected himself into several movies, such as Home Alone 2, by stipulating if they wanted to use his facilities, he needed a scene.

Here's a typical "You can't fire me; I quit" rage quit letter from the low-class loser:
Ms. Carteris:

I write to you today regarding the so-called Disciplinary Committee hearing aimed at revoking my union membership. Who cares!

While I’m not familiar with your work, I’m very proud of my work on movies such as Home Alone 2, Zoolander and Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps; and television shows including The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, Saturday Night Live, and of course, one of the most successful shows in television history, The Apprentice – to name just a few!

I’ve also greatly helped the cable news television business (said to be a dying platform with not much time left until I got involved in politics), and created thousands of jobs at networks such as MSDNC and Fake News CNN, among many others.

Which brings me to your blatant attempt at free media attention to distract from your dismal record as a union. Your organization has done little for its members, and nothing for me – besides collecting dues and promoting dangerous un-American policies and ideas – as evident by your massive unemployment rates and lawsuits from celebrated actors, who even recorded a video asking, “Why isn’t the union fighting for me?”

These, however, are policy failures. Your disciplinary failures are even more egregious.

I no longer wish to be associated with your union.

As such, this letter is to inform you of my immediate resignation from SAG-AFTRA. You have done nothing for me.

Nice knowing all of you - I am totally going to get banned for this but in response to @freitasm saying the following on our "troll group chat" to my lovely fiancée:

She drew him with his idol:

Happy Valentines Day all!

The...Apprentice? One of the "most successful shows" in TV history? Not in a million years, mate. He's obviously never heard of Dallas, MASH, The Cosby Show or NCIS, to name but a few.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Apprentice_(American_TV_series)#Statistics_by_season

Highest rating he ever had was 28 million viewers...for one season (the first one), then the numbers started dropping and dropping.

MASH had 100 million for it's last episode apparently.

And there's no way he can make a comeback in The Apprentice. His fan base have moved on to The Bachelorette.
