Pathetic really.
The big travesty now is that the voters won't be able to tell the difference between a good government and a bad one.
If you remove logic, truth, decency, manners and science from the equation, there is no way of judging anything.
quickymart:Pathetic really.
It's beyond pathetic.
It's like watching a re-run of 'House of Cards', but with the certain knowledge that in this version, justice never prevails and the baddies always win.
Trump crowned? No faux King way!

The Washington Post - Trump’s lie that the election was stolen has cost $519 million (and counting) as taxpayers fund enhanced security, legal fees, property repairs and more
breaking
President Donald Trump’s onslaught of falsehoods about the November election misled millions of Americans, undermined faith in the electoral system, sparked a deadly riot - and has now left taxpayers with a large, and growing, bill.
The total so far: $519 million. ...
This is a BIG article with BIG images - read it if you can ...

And on a still more depressing note, the NZ Herald re-reports that it may take seven years for the world to get back to the way it was before Covid-19.

Great quote by Terry Pratchett on this:
You tell them a lie, and then when you don't need it any more you tell them another lie and tell them they're progressing along the road to wisdom. Then instead of laughing they follow you even more, hoping that at the heart of all the lies they'll find the truth. And bit by bit they accept the unacceptable.
The New York Times - Spurning Calls to Resign, Liz Cheney Says G.O.P. Must Move Past Trump
today
WASHINGTON - Representative Liz Cheney of Wyoming waded deeper into Republicans’ identity crisis on Sunday, warning her party on the eve of a Senate impeachment trial not to “look past” former President Donald J. Trump’s role in stoking a violent attack on the Capitol and a culture of conspiracy roosting among their ranks.
In her first television interview since fending off an attempt by Mr. Trump’s allies to oust her from House leadership over her vote to impeach him, Ms. Cheney said Republican voters had been “lied to” by a president eager to steal an election with baseless claims of widespread voter fraud.
She cautioned that the party risked being locked out of power if it did not show a majority of Americans that it could be trusted to lead truthfully.
“The notion that the election had been stolen or that the election was rigged was a lie, and people need to understand that,” Ms. Cheney said on Fox News Sunday.
“We need to make sure that we as Republicans are the party of truth, and that we are being honest about what really did happen in 2020 so we actually have a chance to win in 2022 and win the White House back in 2024.”
She added that Mr. Trump “does not have a role as a leader of our party going forward.” ...
EDIT and ...
“What we already know does constitute the gravest violation of his oath of office by any president in the history of the country, and this is not something that we can simply look past or pretend didn’t happen or try to move on,” Ms. Cheney said.
She urged her party to “focus on substance and policy and issues” rather than remain loyal to Mr. Trump.
Wow!

OMG. Can it be true? A responsible Republican with morals, conscience and common sense?
Trump crowned? No faux King way!
She's only one of a few though. Would be nice if there were more like her.
Also - a fair number of borderline alt-right Republicans aren't very popular (how the hell they got elected, baffles me): https://fivethirtyeight.com/features/what-do-americans-think-of-marjorie-taylor-greene-liz-cheney-josh-hawley/

I find this bizarre, when I think of the crimes her father took part in, when he was VP
JWR:I find this bizarre, when I think of the crimes her father took part in, when he was VP
Not that unusual, look at Rudy vs. Caroline Giuliani.
