neb: Looks more like blasphemy to me...
Blasphemy? How? Is Trumpism a religion?
Unfortunately, yes. 😕
In the eyes of his cult followers, Trump can do no wrong.
And Trump knows - with absolute narcissistic certainty - that he is perfect, and incapable of error.

freitasm: Blasphemy as in comparing Trump to God or Christ and sometimes pointing him as a chosen one.
That text is ridiculous. Whoever wrote that is crazy.
Shucks, it's a satire. No need for knotted togas.
Trump crowned? No faux King way!
Yet another Capitol rioter is finding life in prison tough and he wants to "go home to Mum":
Awww, poor snowflake. Not so tough with your knife taken away now, are we? Welcome to how things work in the real world, not Trump's deluded, warped view of it. PS: he doesn't care about you, either.

David Pakman interviews James Fletcher, producer of 'The Accidental President' documentary.
Worth a watch.
Viewer comment: "Trump's presidency is proof that you cannot underestimate how much bigotry, xenophobia, white supremacy & just basic ignorance exists in the United States.
EDIT: On re-reading, I think the viewer must have meant to say that one could not overestimate how much bigotry, etc etc.
Or maybe it could be either...?

GEORGIA TO ALLOW SOME VOTING IN CERTAIN SITUATIONS
ATLANTA (The Borowitz Report)—Republicans in the Georgia Senate have passed a new bill that would allow some voting in certain situations.
Senator Harland Dorrinson, who sponsored the bill, said that the legislation stopped short of other Republican proposals that would have banned voting altogether, but was still “a good step forward.”
“Under this bill, voting in Georgia will be legal but rare,” he said. “This legislation will stop the runaway growth in voting.”
Dorrinson is confident that the bill will prevent a repeat of what happened during the January runoffs, when voting was allowed to spiral out of control.
“People were voting as if it were their right,” he said.

I thought this was quite well done.

Yes, because if Hillary had been president instead of you, she would have done as little as possible about coronavirus...like you did, and she would have just sat idly by and let over 500,000+ Americans needlessly die doing next-to-nothing about it, just like you did...right? Moron 🙄
Trump's craving for approval and ego massaging is pathetically transparent. He begs to be noticed and is oblivious to how desperate that makes him appear. He is so self-obsessed and insecure that it never seems to occur to him just how dumb he comes across. How even Americans could have ever elected such a wonker to the highest office of their land will always remain an enduring mystery.

Because it's only now we're getting a clear view of the suppurating mess that's been buried under stinking bandages since 1860. The so-called 'United States of America' is just a larger scale version of Hollywood: A skin of glitz, glamor and bullshat pasted over a rotting core.

Back to The Future ? ...

What a depressing thought ... 😟

Christ, I hope not.
I don't think any losing presidential candidate has gone on to win another election after they lost, have they?
Trump might be popular as hell with Republicans right now, but a lot can change in 4 years, and a lot of new faces will come into the political scene, and hopefully some leave (like Josh Hawley and Ted Cruz).

It's not a mystery at all, there have been numerous analyses posted about this, e.g. our own dejadead's one, or for a new one, consider Bob Altemeyer's profile of authoritarian personalities (he's a retired professor of psychology and creator of the RWA, right-wing-authoritarianism diagnostic scale):
- Ethnocentric, a strong commitment to their in-group.
- Fearful of a dangerous world.
- Self-righteous.
- Aggressive when authority figures give them the green light.
- Biased, prejudiced against racial and ethnic minorities, non-heterosexuals, women.
- Contradictory beliefs, so thinking is full of double standards.
- Poor reasoning skills, they like the conclusion and ignore whether the argument makes any sense.
- Dogmatic, beliefs descend from authorities, no ability to deal with facts showing that they're wrong.
- Dependent on social reinforcement of their beliefs.
- Limited exposure to contrary viewpoints.
- Easily manipulated.
- Weak power of self-reflection, no insight into why they think what they do, c.f. Jonathan Swift quote.
Note that this predates the web, Facebook, and Trump by decades, and yet it perfectly describes lots of Trump's supporters. In particular note the fourth point and consider the events of 6 Jan and Trump's actions before that.
