The Washington Post - Trump’s PAC collected $75 million this year, but so far the group has not put money into pushing for the 2020 ballot reviews he touts

23 July 2021

Former president Donald Trump's political PAC raised about $75 million in the first half of this year as he trumpeted the false notion that the 2020 election was stolen from him, but the group has not devoted funds to help finance the ongoing ballot review in Arizona or to push for similar endeavors in other states, according to people familiar with the finances.

Instead, the Save America leadership PAC - which has few limits on how it can spend its money - has paid for some of the former president's travel, legal costs and staff, along with other expenses ... The PAC has held onto much of its cash.

Surprise!: This fund is - and always has been - a grift.   😕

AP-NORC poll: Most unvaccinated Americans don’t want shots

Most Americans who haven’t been vaccinated against COVID-19 say they are unlikely to get the shots and doubt they would work against the aggressive delta variant despite evidence they do, according to a new poll that underscores the challenges facing public health officials amid soaring infections in some states.

Looks like the real viral threat the US has to deal now with isn't Covid-19, it's Stupid-21.

The Washington Post - Opinion: The real reason Republicans want to sabotage the investigation into Jan. 6

today

When the House select committee exploring the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol begins its investigation Tuesday, it will have to do more than just gather and synthesize information about the insurrection.

It will also have to fight every day to defend the investigation itself, against a party determined to discredit it, to spread disinformation and to prevent any real accounting.

It will be reminiscent of both of Donald Trump’s impeachments: an effort to investigate and understand an assault on the American system of government conducted while Republicans wave their arms and shout that we shouldn’t be talking about this at all.

But the fact that it will make Trump look bad is only the surface reason Republicans oppose this investigation.

At a deeper level, they don’t want to draw attention to what it will highlight about them and their supporters. ...

That’s because they see the anger and hatred, the rejection of the American system of resolving differences, the celebration of violence as a means of achieving political ends, the way social media has become such a potent instrument to spread and organize extremism, not as problems to be solved, but as resources for achieving their own political goals.

So the current message being delivered by the GOP is that the investigation is illegitimate and therefore nothing that comes out of it need be seriously addressed. ...

Vanity Fair: In GOP poll from Hell, Republicans say they want Donald Trump Jr. to be president in 2024

A recurring nightmare among millions of Americans is that come 2024, Donald Trump will forget the fact that he actually hated being president, decide to run again, and win. Seriously, can you think of a more horrifying scenario, except perhaps falling through a sidewalk into a rat-filled chasm, which some people might still prefer? We maintain that you cannot. But an equally terrifying, skin-crawling situation would definitely be to turn on the TV on January 20, 2025, and see Donald Trump Jr. being sworn in as president of the United States, which a number of Republican voters apparently actually want to happen.

Axios reports that the results of a new poll of conservatives puts the ex-president’s namesake at the top of a popularity contest among GOP front-runners, a sentence that has multiple things wrong with it. Don Junior, for those lucky enough to be unaware of the comings and goings of Donald Trump’s children, is a terrible person who succeeded his banned father as the biggest _sshole on Twitter. When he’s not shooting defenseless animals or recording nonsensical videos in front of a gun rack, he seemingly spends much of his time claiming that Hunter Biden has benefited from nepotism in a way that he, a guy whose entire professional life revolves around his father, would never dream of. He’s also tried his hand at comedy, with predictable results, and insisted, re: the charges against his family’s business and CFO, that people dodge taxes all the time and it’s so not a big deal.

As part of the ongoing audit of the vote in Arizona, there has been an attempt by Trump-aligned forces to subpoena the network routers used by the county's election division.

For those non-techies out there, this is as useful as issuing subpoenas on underseas cables.

Obviously Trump doesn't know a router from a windmill.

From Trump: "The county has, for whatever reason, also refused to produce the network routers. We want the routers, Sonny, Wendy, we got to get those routers, please. The routers. Come on, Kelly, we can get those routers. Those routers. You know what? We're so beyond the routers, there's so many fraudulent votes without the routers. But if you got those routers, what that will show, and they don't want to give up the routers. They don't want to give them. They are fighting like hell. Why are these commissioners fighting not to give the routers?"

Donald HATES windmills:

The Washington Post - The story of Donald Trump’s feud with his one true nemesis: Windmills

15 Aug 2019

President Trump truly, emphatically doesn’t like windmills. ...

He ranted about “big windmills” that “destroy everybody’s property values, kill all the birds.”

They’re unreliable, he claimed, darkening people’s homes.

“And then, all of a sudden, it stops; the wind and the televisions go off,” he added.

“And your wives and husbands say, ‘Darling, I want to watch Donald Trump on television tonight. But the wind stopped blowing and I can’t watch.”

... and they cause lung cancer.  😑
