Committee Obtains Key Evidence of President Trump’s Attempts to Overturn the 2020 Election
Washington, D.C. (July 30, 2021) - Today, Rep. Carolyn B. Maloney, the Chairwoman of the Committee on Oversight and Reform, released handwritten notes taken by then-Acting Deputy Attorney General Richard P. Donoghue of a December 27, 2020, phone call with former President Donald J. Trump and former Acting Attorney General Jeffrey Rosen.
These notes reveal attempts by former President Trump to directly pressure the two most senior officials at the Department of Justice (DOJ) to overturn the certified results of the 2020 election or risk losing their jobs.
Chairwoman Maloney issued the following statement in light of the new revelations:
“These handwritten notes show that President Trump directly instructed our nation’s top law enforcement agency to take steps to overturn a free and fair election in the final days of his presidency,” Chairwoman Maloney said.
“The Committee has begun scheduling interviews with key witnesses to investigate the full extent of the former President’s corruption, and I will exercise every tool at my disposal to ensure all witness testimony is secured without delay.”
The handwritten notes of the December 27, 2020, meeting provide additional evidence that former President Trump pressured top DOJ officials to take official action to overturn the results of the 2020 election. ...

I hope the DOJ has the oversize orange jumpsuit (with the button-up backflap) ready for use.

Problem is, his legions of fans have been so brainwashed by the whole "the election was a fraud" bs this won't make one iota of difference to them.

Interesting viewing for the historical background behind this is the documentary "The Brainwashing of My Dad", available from the usual streaming sources. It's a bit conspiratorial in places so view it with a grain of salt, but its portrayal of the manipulation of ordinary people is scary.

Great closing title soundtrack from the film: My Parents Think Fox News is Real.

Pro-Trump social network becomes safe haven for ISIS – POLITICO
Just weeks after its launch, the pro-Trump social network GETTR is inundated with terrorist propaganda spread by supporters of Islamic State, according to a POLITICO review of online activity on the fledgling platform.
The social network — started a month ago by members of former President Donald Trump’s inner circle — features reams of jihadi-related material, including graphic videos of beheadings, viral memes that promote violence against the West and even memes of a militant executing Trump in an orange jumpsuit similar to those used in Guantanamo Bay.
The rapid proliferation of such material is placing GETTR in the awkward position of providing a safe haven for jihadi extremists online as it attempts to establish itself as a free speech MAGA-alternative to sites likeFacebook and Twitter.
Islamic State “has been very quick to exploit GETTR,” said Moustafa Ayad, executive director for Africa, the Middle East and Asia at the Institute for Strategic Dialogue, a think tank that tracks online extremism, who first discovered the jihadi accounts and shared his findings with POLITICO.

"So far, GETTR has been the highest-profile pro-Trump platform launch, given the names behind it: Jason Miller, former Trump spokesperson, is its chief executive, and the site is partially funded by Miles Guo, the business partner of former Trump advisor Steve Bannon. Trump, himself, is not directly involved in the operation, nor has he officially signed up to the platform. The social network has touted a “free speech” policy that, purportedly, would allow users to fully express themselves without the censorship of tech giants."
What a great partnership - Pro-Trumpers and Jihadists. And if that last statement about 'free speech' is correct, the platform would also be a great place for the far-left and anti-Trumpers to hang out.

It's good that they've clarified that it's ISIS jihadists they're talking about and not Trump's jihadists...
The Washington Post - Next test of Trump’s influence on the Republican Party: A crowded GOP primary fight for an Ohio House seat
today
A GOP primary Tuesday to fill a congressional seat outside Columbus is shaping up to be a test of former president Donald Trump’s influence over the Republican Party, coming after his preferred candidate lost a Texas House campaign last week and some of his allies aligned with other candidates in the competitive Ohio race. ...
Trump railed at aides after Susan Wright, the candidate he backed in a special Texas Congressional race to replace her late husband, Rep. Ron Wright, lost to a state Republican lawmaker last week ...
The defeat was an embarrassing setback for the former president, who has sought to flex his hold on the party by making a slew of endorsements since leaving the White House, inserting himself into GOP primaries and going after political enemies.
In a bid to avoid a second straight loss, Trump is now making last-minute moves to bolster support for coal lobbyist Mike Carey, his pick in the Ohio special election, including hosting a get-out-the-vote telerally for him Monday night. ...

Well...there's not that much difference between the ISIS jihadists and Trump's jihadists.
January 6th's raid on the Capitol clearly showed that Trump's mob were as hungry for blood as any card-carrying terrorist.
And they've got the weapons: Kalashnikovs, sniper rifles, crossbows, pistols, bombs and knuckledusters.
ISIS wants its ideology spread worldwide. Trumpists want every American to be a Republican and wouldn't be dismayed if all western culture followed suit.
Both groups are irrational rubbish-ranting lunatics. Put a fake beard on Marjorie Taylor Green and she'd easily pass muster.
Beheading is a favorite pastime in both camps, too, though Trumpists are currently restricted to the kind of figurative dismemberment dished out to Liz Cheney.
No, I think the two groups should get on well, they're kinda made for each other.

The Washington Post - Maricopa County defies state subpoena seeking to expand GOP ballot review, calling it an ‘adventure in never-never land’
today
Elected leaders in Arizona’s largest county responded defiantly Monday to a new subpoena issued by the state Senate that sought local computer routers and internal logs to bolster a GOP-commissioned review of the 2020 presidential election.:
“It is now August of 2021. The election of November 2020 is over.
"If you haven’t figured out that the election in Maricopa County was free, fair, and accurate yet, I’m not sure you ever will ...
“The Board has real work to do and little time to entertain this adventure in never-never land.
"Please finish whatever it is that you are doing and release whatever it is you are going to release.”
