Trump meeting with business partners during transition. I'd say that about the day the results were announced he should have divested himself of business, transferred everything to a trust and stop doing business deals.
But no... This is the guy who represents the right-leaning folks.

There is a lot to criticise about the American way of doing things, but the country has always had a knack of pulling back from the brink. Watergate is an example. There has always been an underlying, deep-rooted respect by most ordinary Americans for the democratic system in that country, in spite of the abuses and imperfections. Things are changing but I still have hope that the system of checks and balances will kick in again, that Trump will go too far, and that he will be replaced, not in a coup, but according to proper procedures that do exist for such things. On the basis of his actions up to now, he seems to have no sense of where the boundaries of common decency lie and no respect for legitimate traditions and practices that have built up over more than 200 years, never mind simple basic politeness. The fact that Republicans have a majority in both houses of Congress is no protection; most Republicans also detest him. I for one hope his reign is very short-lived.
Plesse igmore amd axxept applogies in adbance fir anu typos
You are right there. He seems to be a person I'd not like to have around the dinner table.

Apparently, he will be spending a fair bit of time in other residences, this doesn't speak to the guy having full concentration on the job. I seriously doubt the POTUS position can be a part-time affair. It will be very interesting to see how it works (in a horrible way).
I am still willing to give the benefit of the doubt (what choice do Kiwi's have anyway?) but his Hamilton outburst shows he doesn't really intend on chilling out much from the way he behaved during the election. I can only hope that once he takes office and starts understanding what is required, he will set his mind to it.

No way I would miss that opportunity. Say what you like about him, there's no doubting he would be a fascinating man to meet.

I would actually like to meet him to find out what he is really like vs his public persona and media portrayal.
The reason I say this is I once had the opposite experience. I met and spent several hours with a NZ celebrity who was portrayed as a really nice guy, a gentleman, and was a highly respected and senior person in his field. He turned out be an absolutely repellent individual to spend time with - just plain nasty/vindictive. That day couldn't end soon enough.

Yeah, a customer once told me you don't have to like someone, to learn something from them :)
He isnt a person I would want to meet...before or after he becomes President. I would avoid him at any cost. I detest the man and all he stands for.
Even what I am reading on this thread it is clear Trump only cares about himself.

Problem is that if Pence from the religious right become President then The Handmaid's Tale may come true..

MikeB4: It all resembles a very bad reality TV show. I have stopped watching that circus as there are may more important issues.
Agreed.

I believe there will be attempts to turn him off...

And people voted him because he "represented them". Yeah, right.
This, the average person on the street voted for a billionaire who hasn't paid tax is decades to represent them against.... billionaires that don't pay tax.

I think if you do some reading, people didn't vote for him for those reasons. He was CRYSTAL clear about how he perceived financial matters and that he intends to give tax cuts to the rich. He was unapologetic about it during the debates and argued against tax hikes.
He was no less vocal during his rallies.

Mike Pence: the main reason why no-one wants Trump to die.
