The Washington Post - The 5-Minute Fix
today
When is Trump going to get indicted?
One of the most popular reader questions I get is about the former president’s legal vulnerabilities.
Donald Trump - and/or his business - is facing at least two criminal probes, one civil probe and roughly half a dozen lawsuits.
The hottest one seems to be surrounding his company.
In April, the Trump Organization and its longtime chief financial officer were indicted on charges related to defrauding the government in taxes. Last week, a new grand jury just convened in the case, meaning more indictments could come.
There’s also a criminal probe in Georgia about whether Trump improperly tried to overturn that state’s 2020 election results.
And he’s fighting defamation lawsuits from two women who say he sexually assaulted them.
So, is Trump going to get indicted?
That’s a tougher question to answer.
I called up The Washington Post’s Shayna Jacobs, who is covering a head-spinning amount of probes related to Trump, and asked her that question.
Here’s what she said:
“While readers and spectators may be frustrated at the lack of finality in these matters, it appears both criminal investigations involving Trump remain active. But it remains unclear how likely it is he would be indicted in either case.”
“There have been a number of delays that have contributed to the length of time the probes in New York has taken, including a protracted battle over whether investigators would obtain Trump’s personal and business tax returns and related records from his accounting firm.” (Prosecutors in Manhattan got those earlier this year.)

Yes but I can see him wasting time and appealing until the cows come home. Remember he likes to tie up cases in court so he doesn't have to do anything. Nor does he pay his lawyers either. Just ask Rudy - his former so-called "lawyer". $20,000 a day? Hell I don't even think his "services" would be worth that much for a month!
He'll be laughing at everybody all the way to the grave and even then stiff the funeral home.
Whilst the difficult we can do immediately, the impossible takes a bit longer. However, miracles you will have to wait for.

Oh Dear should have done my research prior to posting:
The Lucky Stiff Funeral Home is a funeral home located in Littleneck Falls. Their slogan is "We Put the Fun in Funeral."

kingdragonfly: I'd bet something like this would happen at his funeral.
The question is who? Perhaps Ted Cruz or Mitch McConnell even

BBC News - Capitol riot: Judge rejects Trump bid to withhold records
breaking
A US judge has ruled a congressional committee investigating the Capitol riot can access some of ex-President Donald Trump's White House records.
Mr Trump had argued the materials were covered by executive privilege, which protects the confidentiality of some White House communications.
The inquiry is trying to find out if Mr Trump had foreknowledge of the riot.
The ruling came on the day 10 Trump aides were issued with legal summonses to testify before lawmakers. ...

Nah, Trump would get someone to hang themselves in his place and order the House Republicans to pleasure him. Apart from that, I find this video (YouTube, actually) annoying enough to post about it separately on the annoyances thread.

I really don't want to see Mitch McConnell in a low-cut black dress, do you?
(Now, try and get that image out of your head).
The New York Times - Man Sentenced to 41 Months for Assaulting Officer in Capitol Riot
today
A former New Jersey gym owner who was the first person to plead guilty to assaulting a police officer during the attack on the Capitol in January was sentenced on Wednesday to 41 months in prison, the most severe punishment given so far to any of the more than 650 people charged in the riot.
The gym owner, Scott Fairlamb, admitted in August to breaking into the Capitol and then after he left, approaching a group of officers outside as they were making their way through a large and angry group of pro-Trump protesters.
A hulking, bearded man who once competed as a mixed martial artist, Mr. Fairlamb could be heard on video shouting at the officers: “Are you an American? Act like it!” Then, unprompted, Mr. Fairlamb shoved one of them and punched him in the face.
At a hearing in Federal District Court in Washington, Mr. Fairlamb apologized in halting tones to his family, saying he had tarnished their name with his “completely reckless” actions.
His father once worked for the New Jersey State Police and his brother is a Secret Service agent who was formerly assigned to Michelle Obama. ...
