Excellent work. Yet another arrogant, cocky Capitol rioter meets him comeuppance. This time it's the weird horned guy:

https://www.newshub.co.nz/home/world/2021/11/judge-sentences-us-capitol-rioter-qanon-shaman-to-over-three-years-in-prison.html

When he entered his guilty plea, Chansley said he was disappointed Trump had not pardoned him.

LOL as if that was ever going to happen! Here's a protip for you, mate: your idol does not care about you. Enjoy your time in prison while the orange buffoon carries on living his life, like nothing happened.

The Guardian - Rupert Murdoch says Trump should stop focusing ‘on the past’ in rare rebuke

18 Nov 2021

Fox News boss Rupert Murdoch has said Donald Trump should stop focusing “on the past” in a rare public rebuke of the former US president.

On Wednesday addressing the annual meeting of stockholders for News Corp Murdoch said: “The current American political debate is profound, whether about education or welfare or economic opportunity."

It is crucial that conservatives play an active, forceful role in that debate, but that will not happen if President Trump stays focused on the past. The past is the past, and the country is now in a contest to define the future.” ...

Until now the 90-year-old media mogul has publicly stayed out of the fray and not commented on the election.

Disclosure: As an Australian, I have despised Murdoch for as long as I have despised Trump. Murdoch has not improved since he became a US citizen (and his son is worse than he is).   😠

An interesting (and lengthy) interview with two former Trump followers who had a hand in organising the Capitol riot and then - bizarrely - didn't attend on the day:

Chris Christie, the former governor of New Jersey, former Republic presidential candidate, former Trump ally appears on this week's :"Real Time with Bill Maher."

Sorry I won't provide a link to full video.

There's a Bill Maher Youtube channel, but it's not the whole show.

Chris Christie and Trump have been exchanging barbs recently.

Trump seems to turn on people the minute they open their mouth and dare to say a bad thing about him, kinda like a whiney child who's never happy.

Eventually, I imagine people get sick of playing nice with such a petulant child and start saying to the media what they really think of him. Can't say I blame Chris, Trump has treated him pretty poorly (both before and after he was president).

You can identify them by the fact that they're the ones in crayon.

Background: Kyle Rittenhouse, was a 17-year-old Illinois resident. He brought with him an AR-style semiautomatic rifle across state lines to a protest. He shows up at a dealership, claims to be protecting it. He talks to police who bar him from returning.

Rittenhouse hears shots, and runs toward it. It's a vigilante surrounded by protestors. The vigilante is shooting into the sky. Rittenhouse shoots an unarmed protestor in the head. He flees the scene.

Several protestors attempt to apprehend him. One protestor points a handgun gun at him. He sprays the crowd with 16 shots wounded the armed protestor, but also kills his second unarmed protestor.

At the court case, the judge angrily tells the defense attorney not to call the dead "victims." He also doesn't allow the victims' family to give impact statements to the jury.

Newsweek: 'We Saved Kenosha': Trump Congratulates Self on 'Great' Rittenhouse Verdict

...Trump congratulated himself when discussing the "great" not guilty verdict in the case of Kyle Rittenhouse.

Rittenhouse was accused of homicide after shooting several men in Kenosha, Wisconsin on August 25, 2020.

"I think that it was a great decision," Trump told Fox News host Laura Ingraham on Friday night. "I was very happy to see it. A lot of people were happy to see it—most people."

...In his interview with Ingraham, Trump also called Rittenhouse a "poster boy" for "innocence based on self-defense."

"I think he would have been dead if he waited a quarter of a second when that gun was pointed at his head," Trump said in reference to Gaige Grosskreutz, who pointed a gun at Rittenhouse on August 25, 2020 and survived being shot by the then-17-year-old.

Trump called the charges against Rittenhouse a case of "prosecutorial misconduct," and said that the judge and the jury experienced a lot of "external pressure" to find Rittenhouse guilty.

...Representatives Madison Cawthorn of North Carolina, Matt Gaetz of Florida [yes, the Matt Gaetz waiting trial of sexually trafficking a minor across state lines] and Paul Gosar of Arizona all offered Rittenhouse a congressional internship following his verdict.

The Washington Post - Opinion: Republicans define themselves by misogyny and violence

today

When Donald Trump ran for president in 2016, Never Trumpers (now largely ex-Republicans) warned that he would corrupt the party in every way imaginable.

His misogyny would morph in the party’s toxic masculinity and degradation of women, they cautioned.

His infatuation with brutality and violence (boasting he would kill terrorists’ families, exhorting his supporters to slug protesters) would metastasize to the party as a whole.

Boy, did those predictions pan out.  ...

Threats and portrayals of violence against women have turned into a badge of honor for a party in which traditional notions about gender (back to the 1950s!) have become a key predictor of Republican support.

Casting men as victims of aggressive, “nasty” or unhinged women, accusing them of wrongdoing, has become standard fare in the Trump party.

Trump’s ability to fan the flames of racism is well known, but equal to his party’s racist appeal is the reassertion of male power.

Whether it is in setting up bounties to rat out women who seek abortions or constant denigration of women, misogyny has become as central to the GOP’s tone and tenor as xenophobia. ...
