Obviously the Saudi don't don't buy Russian oil, and are getting filthier richer off of oil price increases. Asking them to suffer without Russian Vodka and Caviar is obviously too much :(.

The Guardian: Saudis’ Biden snub suggests crown prince still banking on Trump’s return

...The kingdom’s de facto ruler, Mohammed bin Salman, reportedly declined to take a call from Joe Biden last month...

Instead, Prince Mohammed shows signs of betting on the return to office of Trump in 2024, and the resumption of the Trump administration’s cosy relationship with Riyadh.

There have been calls for an investigation into the huge investment made by the Saudi Public Investment Fund, controlled by Prince Mohammed, in Affinity Partners, a private equity firm set up by Jared Kushner...

In doing so, the kingdom’s de facto ruler ignored the warnings of the Saudi fund’s own advisory panel. It worried about Affinity’s inexperience: Kushner was in real estate before his White House stint, and his track record of investments was widely considered not particularly good. It was concerned that the new company’s due diligence on operations was “unsatisfactory in all aspects”, and that it was charging “excessive” fees, according to a report in the New York Times.

“It boils down to something very simple. The Saudis – meaning Mohammed bin Salman – have chosen Trump over Biden, and they’re sticking to their bet,” said Bruce Riedel, a former senior CIA official who is director of the Brookings Institution’s intelligence project.

“It’s not an unreasonable proposition. Trump gave them everything they wanted: complete support in Yemen, support over the killing of Jamal Khashoggi, whatever they wanted in terms of access in the United States.”

The slogan reads: "Jesus is my Savior / Trump is my President"

The NY Times - A Crusade to Challenge the 2020 Election, Blessed by Church Leaders

24 April

Some evangelical pastors are hosting events dedicated to Trump’s election falsehoods and promoting the cause to their congregations. ...

In the 17 months since the presidential election, pastors at these churches have preached about fraudulent votes and vague claims of election meddling.

They have opened their church doors to speakers promoting discredited theories about overturning President Joe Biden’s victory and lent a veneer of spiritual authority to activists who often wrap themselves in the language of Christian righteousness.

For these church leaders, Trump’s narrative of the 2020 election has become a prominent strain in an apocalyptic vision of the left running amok. ...

... surveys show that the belief in a fraudulent election retains a firm hold on white evangelical churchgoers overall, Mr. Trump’s most loyal constituency in 2020.

"Only in America"?  😕

The irony of this is that Trump was the most corrupt, un-Christian US President in living memory.

The NY Times - Elon Musk and Twitter Reach Deal for Sale

breaking

The Trump question.

Mr. Musk has not commented publicly on how he would handle the former President Donald Trump’s banned Twitter account.

But his free speech comments have stoked speculation that Twitter under his ownership might reinstate Mr. Trump, who was barred from the platform last year.

After the Jan. 6 riot at the Capitol, Twitter said Mr. Trump had violated its policies by inciting violence among his supporters. Facebook also banned Mr. Trump for the same reason.

The former president, who was known for tweets that criticized opponents and sometimes announced policy changes, is also trying to get his own social media site off the ground.

His start-up, Truth Social, has struggled to attract users, and the problem could get worse now that Mr. Musk has suggested changing content moderation rules on Twitter.

Mr. Trump said in a recent interview that he probably wouldn’t rejoin Twitter. ...

Well, that's a relief (if it's true).   🙂

Rikkitic:  Trump held in contempt.

From this article:

"A New York judge held former president Donald Trump in contempt of court for not producing documents subpoenaed in the state attorney general's civil probe of his business practices, and ordered Trump to be fined $10,000 per day until he complies."

$10,000 a day is a slap on the wrist with a very wet bus ticket - Trump probably loses more than that every day on Truth Social.  😏

EDIT

From the Comments section of today's New York Times:

Unfortunately justice in the US is meant to punish the poor, not the rich. Hence the fine could be devastating for a working person, but just a trivial nuisance for the rich.

The fines maximum is usually between $500/day, and a maximum of $5,000.

Conceivably Trump could go to jail for contempt, but we all know that's not going to happen.

"In arguing for the $10,000 daily fine during the hearing, Andrew Amer, special litigation counsel with the attorney general's office, said the fine was meant to coerce Trump into complying with the documents, not punish him."

Where to now for Mark Meadows. I don't think he'll work in government ever again.

It's not. He's a narcissist, Twitter is like heroin, cocaine, and methamphetamine rolled into one for him.
