He follows the "butter" and uses it on both sides of the "bread". He will have to bring his son Lachlan Murdoch into line though.
Citizen Kane is Trumps favourite movie apparently and I thought Tomorrow Never Dies would be.
Elliot Carver anyone ?
Whilst the difficult we can do immediately, the impossible takes a bit longer. However, miracles you will have to wait for.

Is it really Splitsville though?
"Junk Donald for Ronald". DeSantis should definitely use that as one of his election slogans.
Graffiti it on Mar-a-Lago walls.

After reading this, I agree with the sentiment that Mark Meadows has made himself a deal with the Devil (ie, Trump)...but it probably didn't seem like this initially.
A grim read about what it could take to stop the Republican party turning America into a dictatorship. This opinion piece is right, it will take several miracles.

The Guardian - Self-awareness in short supply as Trump calls for law and order in DC
27 July 2022
America first, irony last.
Donald Trump, the former US president accused of a coup attempt, returned to Washington on Tuesday with a plea for law and order to give police “the respect that they deserve”.
Trump spoke at a luxury hotel less than two miles from the US Capitol where, 18 months ago, his supporters furiously attacked law enforcement in a bid to overturn the 2020 presidential election result.
It was his first visit to the nation’s capital since he snubbed Joe Biden’s inauguration and took flight to Florida. ...
Trump complained: “There is no longer respect for the law and there certainly is no order. Our country is now a cesspool of crime. We have blood, death and suffering on a scale once unthinkable because of the Democrat party’s effort to destroy and dismantle law enforcement all throughout America. It has to stop and it has to stop now.”
Biden's response:

The Guardian - Garland promises ‘justice without fear or favor’ as DoJ digs into Trump’s January 6 role
27 July 2022
The US attorney general, Merrick Garland, said he would “pursue justice without fear or favor” in his decision on whether to charge Donald Trump with crimes related to the Capitol attack and his attempt to overturn the 2020 election ...
The department is conducting a criminal investigation into the events surrounding and preceding the January 6 insurrection, an effort that Garland [has] called “the most wide-ranging investigation in its history”.
News reports on Tuesday suggested the inquiry is homing in on Trump’s role.
The Washington Post reported that investigators have specifically questioned witnesses about Trump’s involvement in schemes to overturn the vote, and received the phone records of Trump officials and aides, including former chief of staff, Mark Meadows.
The New York Times also reported that federal investigators had directly questioned witnesses about Trump’s efforts, signaling an escalation.
We live in hope. 🙄

I guess with all things Trumpworld, eventually the acolytes all turn on each other, and it's every man (or woman) for himself (or herself) - Trump included.
As I mentioned earlier, I'm in the middle of Thank You for Your Servitude. It's actually really funny IMO and quite well written.
One passage stuck out at me this morning. Remember when back in 2016 Trump said he could stand in the middle of Fifth Avenue and shoot someone and it wouldn't affect his standing? This turned into what became a (depressingly) familiar cycle whenever someone challenged him or attacked something he said, as outlined here (brief excerpt):
The Fifth Avenue line was mostly taken as an absurd exaggeration when Trump first said it. Four years on, it sounded entirely plausible. Putting the legal particulars of presidential immunity aside, if Trump literally did shoot someone on the street (say, in downtown Palm Beach), here's what likely would happen: He would immediately cry self-defense, make up some claim that his victim was a “protester” and was “harassing” him. Citizen Trump was simply exercising his “rights” as a peace-loving gun owner. He felt threatened. He did nothing wrong.
Within hours, some pro-Trump media outlet would perhaps find a picture of the victim at a Black Lives Matter rally from a few years ago. Within days, the victim would be dubbed “a dangerous radical protester,” or some such, by a Fox host. The various pro-Trump smear brigades would assume their positions. Blizzards of lies about the victim would blow through social media. Don Jr. would “like” a bunch of them.
Hannity would blame the “radical woke police,” Cruz would blame “the protesters,” and the mourning family would be inundated with death threats. Trump would hail the “record-breaking crowd” at his next rally and brag that he was fighting back against being “canceled” over this latest hoax. A majority of Republican voters would remain “loyal” to Trump and an even bigger majority of elected Republicans would desperately try to avoid the issue. Senator Grassley “didn't see it,” so he couldn't comment.
As depressing as it sounds, this became the norm with Trump running the show. I'm pleased that at least Joe has some semblance of decency and doesn't "release the hounds" if someone challenges him.
