Second-worst. The worst was my plan to feed the homeless to the starving.

ABC News (US): Republican National Committee warning to Trump: If you run for president, we stop paying your legal bills, says official

Republican leaders who worry that Donald Trump could hurt their midterm chances by announcing a presidential run too soon are hoping he'll be dissuaded from doing so by the prospect of losing hundreds of thousands of dollars in legal payments, according to an RNC official.

Since October 2021, the Republican National Committee has paid nearly $2 million to law firms representing Trump as part of his defense against personal litigation and government investigations.

Oh no! He'll finally have to pay a lawyer himself, for once in his life! Shock! Horror! 😀

Trump remains the leading figure in the Republican Party. But while he flirts with a 2024 presidential run, his standing has weakened slightly, with some 40 percent of Republicans saying he is at least partly to blame for the Jan. 6 riot compared with 33 percent in a poll conducted as the hearings got under way six weeks ago, according to a Reuters/Ipsos poll.

Waning popularity could encourage potential rivals to run, including Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, who is among those maneuvering for possible Republican primary challenges in 2024.

I hope that number continues to grow and everyone sees him for the nasty piece of work he really is.

Ron De Santis I understand is a just a more polished version of Trump. Be very interesting if he got into the 2024 race.

There's speculation that this popular Republican has brain injury due to American football. Or perhaps he has a mental illness.

In an odd twist, Republicans almost always hate ebonics, but are willing to make an exception for a popular Republican candidate. It's like finding a Republican who wants inexpensive and easy access to mental health care for everyone.

However if you excluded every Republican with bad brains, where would you get many Republican candidates?

Wow! A $1 ticket to a golf tournament where you can see your favourite orange buffoon! How much did tickets sell for at his rallies back when he was, well, popular?

Also not to take a dig at Trump's personal appearance, but holy Christ he looks really, really old in that pic.

Republican Candidate Can't Even Speak

Imo many voters will see this kind of stuff as the usual prejudice that it is. At the same time voters will see, holding a gun to his wife's head, saying bad things about black fathers on campaign and later admitting to three additional children, long standing relationship with Trump and support of Trump election conspiracy. In the worst polls he's 10 points behind his Democrat opponent. In the best he's only 3 points behind.

Once again, Trump's "people" (or thugs) try to deflect the blame to him - "I only went on January 6 because he told me to". I doubt it will work, hasn't worked for anyone else so far, has it?

Reckon eh. He just looks so old. Hell, even Joe - at 2 years older than him - doesn't look that old.

kingdragonfly: Republican Candidate Can't Even Speak
David Pakman Show

Is this guy auditioning for Fox News? He starts with a tediously long mudslinging session about how incoherent his chosen target is, repeating the same few things over and over again until I fast-forwarded past it, then cuts to a very brief, possibly quite out-of-context, and suddenly cut off, sound bite from the target that doesn't really confirm anything he's just said, and then goes back into Fox mudslinging mode, at which point I switched off. This is Fox News "reporting", only this time a Republican is the target.

He's about as "left-wing" as possible; I'd put him as similar to Rachel Maddow, though not as good.

But life is a circle. Extreme left-wing is very close to extreme right-wing. For example Libertarians who seem to be extreme left-wing anarchists and right-wing free-market capitalists at the same time.

I thought neb was commenting on Mr Walker for a second, not Mr Pakman. But I might be confused.
Herschel isn't much of a wordsmith from what I've seen.

Why on earth would Trump bury his first wife near hole 1 at Bedminster? An attempt to claim the golf course is a cemetery for tax purposes

Guardian: When Ivana Trump, Donald Trump’s first wife, was buried last month near the first hole of Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster, New Jersey, few immediately guessed that her grave’s location might also serve her ex-husband’s long-held tax planning purposes.

Tax code in New Jersey exempts cemetery land from all taxes, rates, and assessments – and her grave, as such, potentially has advantageous tax implications for a Trump family trust that owns the golf business, in a state where property and land taxes are notoriously high.

Not a joke.

... which reminds me of this controversial cartoon :

NBC News - Canadian artist fired after viral Trump cartoon

01 July 2019

A publishing company in New Brunswick, Canada, has terminated its contract with cartoonist Michael de Adder after a drawing he did of President Donald Trump standing over the bodies of two drowned migrants went viral on social media.

The drawing, which was posted on de Adder's Twitter account on 26 June 2019, shows Trump standing beside a golf cart, golf club in hand, looking down at the bodies of a father and daughter who drowned in the Rio Grande while trying to cross from Mexico into Texas.
