I agree with her, although I think the shadow of Trump is going to loom over the party for a very long time.

I'm hoping this will be Trump's last vision, aged 100.

Axios -
Exclusive photos: Trump's telltale toilet

breaking!

Remember our toilet scoop in Axios AM earlier this year?

Maggie Haberman's forthcoming book about former President Trump will report that White House residence staff periodically found wads of paper clogging a toilet - and believed the former president, a notorious destroyer of Oval Office documents, was the flusher. ...

Haberman - who obtained the photos recently - shared them with us ahead of the Oct. 4 publication of her book, "Confidence Man: The Making of Donald Trump and the Breaking of America."  ...

Trump spokesperson Taylor Budowich told Axios: "You have to be pretty desperate to sell books if pictures of paper in a toilet bowl is part of your promotional plan." ...

Is these pictures too good to be true? Only you can decide.  🙂

Oh dear, that isn't a good look.

As an aside, I quite like Axios, they give you the summary of a story and why it's important, and you have the chance to dig deeper if you want to, unlike some sites with a wall of text that you have to read through whether you want to or not.

As to this comment: Trump spokesperson Taylor Budowich told Axios: "You have to be pretty desperate to sell books if pictures of paper in a toilet bowl is part of your promotional plan."

My response: you'd also have to be pretty desperate to steal an election you rightfully lost by lying about the result and inciting a horde of your thugs to attack the Government, too, right? 🙄

Trump is such an unmitigated F-wit that it hardly seems worthwhile posting yet more examples of his assininity, but I couldn't resist this one from the Washington Post. So ignorant and devoid of any meaningful cerebral content is this committed non-reader, that he not only had no knowledge whatsoever of the history of World War II, but equally no understanding of the relationship between Hitler and his generals. Accordingly, he complained to his Chief of Staff that his own generals should be more loyal like Hitler's were. That desire is already bad enough in the President of the United States, but when John Kelly pointed out that Hitler's generals tried to kill him three times and nearly succeeded, Trump refused to believe it. 'Don't confuse me with facts, my mind is made up!'

NY Times F.B.I. Searches Trump’s Home in Florida

breaking!

The former president said in a statement that Mar-a-Lago had been “raided, and occupied by a large group of F.B.I. agents.”

Former President Donald J. Trump said on Monday that the F.B.I. had searched his Palm Beach, Fla., home and had broken open a safe - an account that, if accurate, would be a dramatic escalation in the various investigations into the former president.

The search appeared to be focused on material that Mr. Trump had brought with him to Mar-a-Lago, his private club and residence, after he left the White House. ...

These are dark times for our Nation, as my beautiful home, Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach, Florida, is currently under siege, raided, and occupied by a large group of FBI agents,” Mr. Trump said in the statement.

Nothing like this has ever happened to a President of the United States before” ...

Washington Post - FBI searches Trump safe at Mar-a-Lago club, former president says

breaking!

Former President Donald Trump said Monday that the FBI had raided his Mar-a-Lago estate.

My beautiful home, Mar-A-Lago in Palm Beach, Florida, is currently under siege, raided, and occupied by a large group of FBI agents,” Trump said in a statement released through his political action committee, Save America.

The FBI declined to comment on whether it had conducted a search of the former president’s property.

A person familiar with the investigation said agents were conducting a court-authorized search as they probe the potential mishandling of classified documents that were shipped to Mar-a-Lago.

Such a move - a court-ordered search of his property to look for possible evidence of a crime - is deeply unusual for a former president and represents a historic moment in Trump’s tortured relationship with the Justice Department, both in and out of the White House.

To take such a step would require approval at the highest levels of the Justice Department. A department spokeswoman declined to comment when asked if Attorney General Merrick Garland approved the step.

BBC News - Trump says FBI has raided his Florida home, Mar-a-Lago

breaking!

Former US President Donald Trump has said his Florida home is being raided by the FBI.

Mr Trump said in a statement Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach was being "occupied by a large group of FBI agents".

Neither the FBI or Department of Justice have commented on the reported raid. It is unclear what might have prompted any search warrant.

Mr Trump is currently the focus of a congressional inquiry into last year's US Capitol riot.

According to CNN, Mr Trump was in Trump Tower in New York City at the time of Monday's reported raid.

"These are dark times for our Nation," Mr Trump's statement began.

He said he had co-operated with all relevant government agencies and so the "unannounced raid on my home was not necessary or appropriate".

Mr Trump said it amounted to "prosecutorial misconduct" and "the weaponisation of the Justice System" to prevent him from running for the White House again in 2024.

"Such an assault could only take place in broken, Third-World Countries," he said. "Sadly, America has now become one of those Countries, corrupt at a level not seen before".

"They even broke into my safe!"

Just to be awkward, wouldn't this be a good moment for the Chinese to quit pretending and just invade Taiwan? They are already deployed. America is being pulled apart by internal strife and Ukraine is preoccupying international attention. How much support can the USA realistically give to Taiwan, even if they want to? If I were Xi, I would go now.

Poor Trump, always the victim. His beautiful house! They broke into his safe! It can't be because he stole documents from the White House before he left it? Surely not! This is all a "witch hunt"!

(I wish I had $1 for every time he used that tired, worn-out line - I'd be quite rich by now).

You might want to read this article: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Taiwan_Relations_Act

This is the ambiguous important bit:

The TRA does not guarantee the U.S. will intervene militarily if the PRC attacks or invades Taiwan nor does it relinquish it, as its primary purpose is to ensure the US's Taiwan policy will not be changed unilaterally by the president and ensure any decision to defend Taiwan will be made with the consent of Congress. The act states that "the United States will make available to Taiwan such defense articles and defense services in such quantity as may be necessary to enable Taiwan to maintain a sufficient self-defense capabilities", and "shall maintain the capacity of the United States to resist any resort to force or other forms of coercion that would jeopardize the security, or social or economic system, of the people of Taiwan". However, the decision about the nature and quantity of defense services that America will provide to Taiwan is to be determined by the President and Congress. America's policy has been called "strategic ambiguity", and it is designed to dissuade Taiwan from a unilateral declaration of independence, and to dissuade the PRC from unilaterally unifying Taiwan with the PRC.

It most be noted that even with PLA increasing live fire exercises around and over Taiwan and forming a 360º loose sea blockade, the USA and Japan have deployed sea assets off Taiwan's eastern seaboard in the Philippine Sea, this includes the USS Ronald Reagan aircraft carrier. (above and below the waves and sky, that we currently know of????)

The Pentagon have had defence (support) plans and have practised these plans for over 50 years, whether the current administration and congress has the guts to look China in the eye and call their bluff (brinkmanship) is the thing on everybody's lips. A few weeks ago the US stood at the podium and admitted they took their eyes of the western pacific ball. Oops too late now!

Would Trump have done anything about China's current aggressiveness, ??. He may have not as he was very big on bringing manufacturing back to the good old US of A (MAGA). But on the other hand he might have been just that much of a self aggrandisement narcissistic idiot and issued an Executive Order, bypassing Congress, to send the whole Pacific fleet in to scare the PLA. Lets face it, the bulk of the worlds tech comes from China and Taiwan.

Then gone out and visited the troops on the largest US carrier out there, trip and fall on the deck, (due to those heel bones spurs), and award himself the Purple Hart and the Congressional Medal Honour.

Whilst the difficult we can do immediately, the impossible takes a bit longer. However, miracles you will have to wait for.
