Varkk: It is the image of a black man following behind a wealthy white woman [his wife], cleaning up etc. It invokes thoughts of slavery from the past. While it is not overtly racist, it has a strong a connection with that time. Certainly plays in to some of those tropes. While it does depict actual people it does show Justice Thomas as being subservient to his wife which may or may not be reality.

And this is why we lose elections. They are real people; it's not a caricature. He is cleaning up after his wife.

I think anyone who sees this cartoon as racist is probably inclined to see racism where most others would not. If the figures depicted were not a well-known married couple, then it could certainly be seen as racist because the implication would be that a black man was being made to clean up a white woman's shit solely because he was black. But that is clearly not the case here. This cartoon is not about race. It is about a marriage in which a long-suffering husband has to deal with problems created by his embarrassing wife. Think John and Martha Mitchell.  Or 'Keeping up Appearances'. Since this happens to be an interracial couple, they can't be depicted in any other way, but that is just the reality of who they are. It has nothing to do with the joke being made.

Meanwhile, back at the ranch ...   🙄

The NY Times - Trump Asks Supreme Court to Intervene in Review of Mar-a-Lago Records

breaking

WASHINGTON - Former President Donald J. Trump asked the Supreme Court on Tuesday to intervene in the litigation over documents marked as classified that the F.B.I. removed from his Florida estate, saying that an appeals court had lacked jurisdiction to rule on the matter.

Although the Supreme Court is dominated by six conservative justices, three of them appointed by Mr. Trump, it has rejected earlier efforts to block the disclosure of information about him, and legal experts said Mr. Trump’s new emergency application faced significant challenges.

Why are we not surprised?  As usual, he will do anything to waste time (and be the center of attention).

Confidence Man was released today. I haven't read it yet (barely started) but it looks like it could be a good behind-the-scenes read.

Sideface: The NY Times - Trump Asks Supreme Court to Intervene in Review of Mar-a-Lago Records

I predict: "Trump Asks Santa Claus to Intervene in Review of Mar-a-Lago Records"

Trump famously told a child during a televised White House visit that Santa doesn't exist.

However when has reality stopped him, in particular when he's using other people's money.

This Trump crap is so distressing.

It is not a caricature. Can you explain how Supreme Court Justice Thomas has 'cleaned up' after his wife in any sense?

CNN: Musk deal could see Trump back on Twitter by midterms

Elon Musk’s decision this week to once again move forward with his deal to acquire Twitter could see the return to the platform of former President Donald Trump, once the world’s most influential tweeter.

While Trump has previously said he would stay on his own social media platform, Truth Social, rather than return to Twitter, the former president may find the lure of tens of millions of Twitter followers difficult to resist.

“I do think it was not correct to ban Donald Trump; I think that was a mistake,” Musk said at a conference in May, pledging to reverse the ban were he to become the company’s owner.

Despite agreeing to take over the company earlier this year, Musk soured on the idea over the summer and spent months battling to get out of it. Twitter sued him to force him to complete the deal. His U-turn and decision to go ahead with buying the company came to light in a securities filing Tuesday, just two weeks before he and Twitter are due to go to court.

Twitter said Tuesday it was intent on closing the deal, opening the possibility that Musk could take over the company within weeks, if the deal is completed.

In the cartoon he his depicted as cleaning up with his wife. I did not draw the cartoon, or post it to this forum.

A cartoon with an interracial couple is about context.

As I explained above, I believe the cartoon is about marriage, not race. However, the image of the husband following behind with a rubbish bin and broom strongly reminded me of an old-fashioned circus parade, with someone following behind to clean up after the elephants. I think that is what it is saying. He has to deal with any mess she leaves behind.

He's a narcissist, it's like offering a needle full of heroin to a junkie. All you'll need to do to tell he's back on Twitter is to listen for the pop of inrushing air filling the vacuum he'll leave on Truth Social when he abandons it.

Washington Post: The QAnon ‘anthem’ is a familiar sales tool — with strings attached

Sad! It was reported Wednesday that the gauzy, schmaltzy, vaguely creepy orchestral music unofficially dubbed the QAnon anthem has been unceremoniously yanked from YouTube and Spotify for violating a harassment policy and alleged copyright infringement, respectively.

Originally uploaded to the services in 2020 by the user name “Richard Feelgood,” the track “Wwg1wga” (QAnon shorthand for “Where we go one, we go all”) reached hit-single status among members of the fringe conspiracy theory group — an extremist ideology based on false claims — who lately have been observed jamming out to it (after a fashion) at former president Donald Trump’s rallies.

The goal seems to be to inject an extra shot of gravitas into the doomy denouements of the former president’s recent speeches. The piece also appears in a video titled “A Nation in Decline,” uploaded in August to Trump’s Rumble account.

Will Van De Crommert, the composer of “Mirrors” (its actual title), told NBC News he was “exploring legal options” after discovering that the track had been improperly used by Trump and other parties sans licensing or permissions. “Mirrors” can still be heard on SoundCloud.
...
It’s not hard to figure out why this music so quickly enraptured a demographic of deep listeners fixated on dispatches from a shadowy puller of sub-government levers. It sounds utterly anonymous.

So why does this stuff work? How does the most generic music imaginable inspire tens (if not hundreds) to throw their hands in the air and do whatever the hell that was?

A tweet from a twit, "DonaldJTrumpJr". Daddy must be jealous.

"How about we get every single Floridian back into their homes and back to normal before we send one more cent to the Ukraine?"

Good replies to the drugged out trust fund baby. I noticed ones mentioning Trump's treatment Puerto Rican hurricanes, asking how much has Trump charities donated to Florida recovery, and how much taxes do the Trumps pay.

How does an orange clown spouting random lines of gibberish inspire millions to throw their hands in the air and do whatever the hell that was? What makes a random stranger dive into a freezing river to save a solid gold baby? Given a fixed material quantity x, how can we determine its birthday? I guess we'll never know...
