^ while it's not so important that the Democrats win Georgia to control the Senate anymore, Walker's chances aren't looking flash. But we shall see.

(Truth Social 03 December)

The Washington Post - White House rebukes Trump’s suggestion to suspend Constitution over 2020 election

03 Dec 2022

The White House issued a stern rebuke on Saturday after former president Donald Trump suggested suspending the Constitution in his ongoing crusade to discredit the results of the 2020 election.

Attacking the Constitution and all it stands for is anathema to the soul of our nation and should be universally condemned,” White House spokesman Andrew Bates said in a statement ... “You cannot only love America when you win” ...

Trump’s message on the Truth Social platform reiterated the baseless claims he has made since 2020 that the election was stolen.

But he went further by suggesting that the country abandon [the Constitution].

A Massive Fraud of this type and magnitude allows for the termination of all rules, regulations, and articles, even those found in the Constitution,” Trump wrote. ...

Donald is using unusually big words today.  😗

Getting a little tired of Yahoo's paywall. Why not just cite the source? (Rolling Stone)

I don't get a paywall when I try to access the Yahoo story. Rolling Stone is cited in there as well.

I post the Yahoo links as I find I usually get the paywall on the Rolling Stone side.

I came across this 1982 arcade game called "ABSCAM".

This game was before the 2010 decision allowing SuperPac's. They may raise unlimited sums of money from corporations, unions, associations and individuals, then spend unlimited sums to overtly advocate for or against political candidates. So no need for being sneaky about accepting bribes.

From Wikipedia

"Abscam was an FBI sting operation in the late 1970s that led to the convictions of seven members of the United States Congress, among others, for bribery and corruption."

This is as much one for the Whiskey Tango Foxtrot thread as here, but:

Georgia Senate Runoff Hits Final Stretch With GOP Looking for Turnout

This is a guy who is anti-abortion but has paid for several of them, who is against black fathers abandoning their children but has done so himself, who has a history of domestic violence, claims to have dissociative identity disorder (he certainly has something but like his claimed FBI membership it could all be fantasy) and if you've listened to any of his speeches has only a tenuous grasp on reality, and nearly half the state is voting for him? How unelectable does someone actually have to be for Republicans not to vote for them?

I think a lot of Republicans are basically just biting their tongue and mashing the "R" button when they go to vote, anything to stop the Democrat getting in.

Also: https://edition.cnn.com/2022/12/05/politics/rudy-giuliani-ethics-hearing/index.html not so cocky with all the "election fraud" bs now, are we Rudy? 😃

There is an old joke along those lines:

In Ireland a son was sitting beside his dad in hospital who was in his last hours of life

The father whispers "its time son....go get me the Protestant minister"

The son was shocked "But Father you have been a proud Catholic all your life"

"Aye sone, that I have, but its better one of them go than one of us"

The NY Times - Trump Organization Found Guilty in Tax Fraud Scheme

breaking !

Donald J. Trump’s family real estate business was convicted on Tuesday of tax fraud and other financial crimes, a remarkable rebuke of the former president’s company and what prosecutors described as its “culture of fraud and deception.”

The conviction on all 17 counts, after more than a day of jury deliberations in State Supreme Court in Manhattan, resulted from a long-running scheme in which the Trump Organization doled out off-the-books luxury perks to some executives: They received fancy apartments, leased Mercedes-Benzes, even private school tuition for relatives, none of which they paid taxes on. ...

The company’s conviction - coupled with the prosecution’s explosive claim at trial that Mr. Trump was “explicitly sanctioning tax fraud” - could now reverberate through the 2024 presidential race, providing early fodder for opponents and their attack ads.

🙂🙂🙂🙂

EDIT - an update of the above report:

Analysis: The conviction on charges of tax fraud, a scheme to defraud, conspiracy and falsifying business records is hardly a death sentence for the Trump Organization.

The maximum penalty it faces is $1.62 million, a rounding error for Trump.

Yet the verdict represents a highly public reckoning for the Trump Organization.

January 6 officers and relatives snub top Republicans at gold medal ceremony | US Capitol attack | The Guardian

Senior Republicans Mitch McConnell and Kevin McCarthy were snubbed by law enforcement leaders and a fallen officer’s family at Tuesday’s Congressional Gold Medal award ceremony for Capitol police who defended against the 6 January attacks.

The pair were denounced as “two-faced” by the mother of Officer Brian Sicknick, who died after a mob of Donald Trump supporters ransacked the Capitol building and forced politicians to flee for their lives.

McConnell, the Senate minority leader, was caught on video with his hand outstretched, waiting in line for handshakes that never came as senior officers and Sicknick’s parents warmly greeted the Democratic House speaker, Nancy Pelosi, and the Senate majority leader, Chuck Schumer.

The relatives and officers in uniform then walked straight past the Republican duo, barely looking at them.

“They’re just two-faced. I’m just tired of them standing there and saying how wonderful the Capitol police is, and they turn around and … go down to Mar-a-Lago and kiss [Trump’s] ring,” Sicknick’s mother, Gladys Sicknick, said, according to a tweet by CNN congressional reporter Daniella Diaz.
