Okay, so he's still focused on the past. That's good (to me), as it shows voters he doesn't know how to move on and is constantly living in the past - which turns them off.

Does it? The Republican party platform seems to be built around grievances (most of them imagined), so banging on about past (perceived) injustices means he's in perfect form.

Oh for sure, he is. But does the normal, average voter (I mean outside of Trump's diminishing base) give a crap about any of his grievances or gripes (including election fraud), be they perceived or real? Just look at his selections in the midterms late last year - almost all of the election deniers he backed lost, and by fairly hefty margins.

A slightly more in-depth look at Trump's "rallies" (read: 500 people invited to attend a meeting with him) that were held over the weekend.

The NY Times - Manhattan Prosecutors Will Begin Presenting Trump Case to Grand Jury

30 Jan 2023

The Manhattan district attorney’s office on Monday will begin presenting evidence to a grand jury about Donald J. Trump’s role in paying hush money to a porn star during his 2016 presidential campaign, laying the groundwork for potential criminal charges against the former president in the coming months ...

The move by the district attorney, Alvin L. Bragg, compounded Donald Trump’s legal woes as he faces an array of law enforcement investigations.

Desperate times call for desperate measures.

How long until he totally abandons Truth Social (and it collapses without him there) and just returns to Twitter?

Desperate times call for desperate measures.

Because major advertisers are avoiding Donald Trump's Truth Social, users are instead being exposed to a flood of ads from what the New York Times characterizes as "miracle cures, scams and fake merchandise," as the platform is forced to take what it can in an effort to survive.

That, in turn, has led to complaints aimed at the former president in his comment sections for allowing the forum to turn into a cesspool of ads from scam artists.

Drain the swamp? Trump is the swamp.

The NY Times - Trump’s Well-Worn Legal Playbook Starts to Look Frayed

31 Jan 2023

The expanding legal threats facing former President Donald J. Trump are testing as never before his decades-old playbook for fending off prosecutors, regulators and other accusers and foes, with his trademark mix of defiance, counterattacks, bluffs and delays encountering a series of setbacks.

In other legal maneuvering and in seeking to shape public opinion about cases involving him, Mr. Trump has experienced regular reversals in court in recent months even as he begins his campaign for another term in the White House.

Mr. Trump is a prolific and sophisticated litigant who is repeatedly using the courts to seek revenge on political adversaries,” Judge Donald M. Middlebrooks of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida wrote this month ...

He is the mastermind of strategic abuse of the judicial process, and he cannot be seen as a litigant blindly following the advice of a lawyer.” ...

The Guardian: Donald Trump sues Bob Woodward over The Trump Tapes for $50m

Donald Trump has sued Bob Woodward for a fraction less than $50m, claiming he did not agree to the veteran Washington Post reporter publishing tapes of their conversations as an audio book.

Woodward’s publisher, Simon & Schuster, and its parent company, Paramount Global, were also named as defendants.

In a joint statement on Monday, Woodward and Simon & Schuster said the lawsuit was “without merit and we will aggressively defend against it.
...
Trump faces legal jeopardy on numerous fronts: over his attempts to overturn the 2020 election, his financial and campaign finance affairs, his retention of classified records and an allegation of rape by the writer E Jean Carroll, which Trump denies.

Trump has often sued media foes, CNN among them. A lawsuit against the New York attorney general was recently thrown out of court.

The section of Trump’s suit against Woodward which alleges deceptive editing, meanwhile, contains an echo of the scandal that made the reporter famous: Watergate, which brought down Richard Nixon in 1974.

In an exchange published in The Trump Tapes, Woodward and Trump discuss Trump’s first impeachment, over his approaches to Ukraine for dirt on political rivals.
