Dude, Ramadan is observed at the start of the new moon. They fast when the sun is out. Ie the official sunrise to sunset. No food no water no swallowing saliva no showers. Obviously if you live in the north pole and it's winter in Ramadan then you're free to eat anytime you like. Don't ask me what happens if it's summer. Probably just die or observe it some other time or migrate.

I'm pretty sure Ramadhan is defined by sighting of the new moon. So if you cannot see the moon in your region, you start fasting at a different day when you see it. That's why. Some use calculations because it's more precise ...due to .... umm ... science. Vs cloud cover -> cannot see moon.

 

 

 

In long summer, local council says it is acceptable to use some other times to fast, but the underlying statement is sunrise to sunset.

Well Congrats to those brave and selfless people who put together, performed, attended and especially those who donated at the Manchester Charity gig. It takes guts to turn up to a concert the same day there has been a terror attack for the second time in a fortnight.

Whilst there were some cringeworth quotes, one I liked was "we will fight this, by carrying on as normal".
