Oh they will totally use this to push the anti encryption agenda.

nakedmolerat: The fact that you think Mecca is the HQ of Islam, it is bizarre. Muslims are currently observing Ramadan, if their HQ is in Mecca, their fasting would have start on the same day. Look for Carla Power, telegraph journalist who actually went to go and spend time among the Muslims. She in fact went through the Quran with a Muslim scholar. She pointed out how Islam spread to many parts of the world i because of the "decentralized" nature of the religion.
There is a reason why most who join ISIS recruits tends to be the young one, new convert, "less religious" etc. She suggested that the lack of knowledge and understanding of Islam is why they got attracted to the nasty group like ISIS.
Dude do you know what you're talking about? Do you know what the Haj is? and what Qibla is?
Dude, Ramadan is observed at the start of the new moon. They fast when the sun is out. Ie the official sunrise to sunset. No food no water no swallowing saliva no showers. Obviously if you live in the north pole and it's winter in Ramadan then you're free to eat anytime you like. Don't ask me what happens if it's summer. Probably just die or observe it some other time or migrate.
Hajj = Pilgrimage
Qibla = Direction of the prayer
Ramadhan is new moon - so how come different parts of the world start differently? Are you telling me that new moon is different for each part of the world? Some Muslims use Falak- calculation rather than sighting the moon. Do you know that?
Nope - I read country like Norway where Summer is long, they fast differently. Again that is the decentralized nature of Islam.
I prove my point how much you know (vs hearsay). Thanks.
I'm pretty sure Ramadhan is defined by sighting of the new moon. So if you cannot see the moon in your region, you start fasting at a different day when you see it. That's why. Some use calculations because it's more precise ...due to .... umm ... science. Vs cloud cover -> cannot see moon.
In long summer, local council says it is acceptable to use some other times to fast, but the underlying statement is sunrise to sunset.
These points show that some areas decide to follow ideas consistent with the times instead of remaining archaic.
Oh thanks for repeating what I have said prior except for the part "archaic vs science". Do you know how much the Muslims contributed in Astronomy? If it was not for them,
a lot of knowledge would have been lost. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Astronomy_in_the_medieval_Islamic_world
Edit (add quote):
Islamic astronomy played a significant role in the revival of Byzantine[3] and European[4] astronomy following the loss of knowledge during the early medieval period, notably with the production of Latin translations of Arabic works during the 12th century. Islamic astronomy also had an influence on Chinese astronomy[5] and Malian astronomy.[6][7]
yeah i know, right, if only they kept on doing their science as opposed to ... umm ... hmm ...

I dislike how orgainisations will cherry pick things like this, to suit their own agenda. It is also totally disrespectful towards those who have been badly affected by this. Unfortunately unless something is done, I think it is only a matter of time before NZ is affected by something like this.

Yes.
Of course, the nefarious evil-doers won't revert to simple analogue methods as used throughout the 20th century such as codes based on books, agreed code phrases or anything like that.
Good luck trying to guess what a postcard from Brighton with "Aunt Mary says hello and will be visiting on the date she mentioned last time she saw you." means....!

Well Congrats to those brave and selfless people who put together, performed, attended and especially those who donated at the Manchester Charity gig. It takes guts to turn up to a concert the same day there has been a terror attack for the second time in a fortnight.
Whilst there were some cringeworth quotes, one I liked was "we will fight this, by carrying on as normal".
I liked this one from the Telegraph comments page.
"I've run out of hashtags, candles and teddies.
Let's get on with the election and hope that whoever wins has the balls to actually do something other than wring their hands and talk."
*stating the obvious here*
By god Thursday's general election is going to be a major security headache.

Given Corbyn's historical support of terrorists (IRA), if he is elected into power we might as well just give up on the UK

What is the possible point of a comment like that?

I'm expressing a political opinion based on my observations of Corbyn's previous associations with terrorists. If you think there is no point in expressing opinions, then you're probably in the wrong virtual place.

Never let facts get in the way of your nonsense argument.

So if Corbyn gets elected you want all countries to cease diplomatic relations with Britain, block all trade, disassemble the world financial system, cut off food supplies, refuse to interact with anyone of British nationality, and so forth? Have I got that right? Just give up on the UK?
