This is so true. I can imagine someone like Tucker Carlson (for example) being questioned on the stand and making a complete dick of himself, to many people's chagrin.

The Guardian - Fox News reportedly imposes ‘soft ban’ on Donald Trump

03 March 2023

The news startup Semafor reports that the cooling of relations between the former president and his once-beloved cable news channel has gone so far that a “soft ban” or “silent ban” is now holding Trump at arm’s length.

The former US president has not made a weekday showing on Fox News since he chatted with his closest friend among the network’s star hosts, Sean Hannity, in September.

Meanwhile, Trump’s rivals for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination are currently frequent guests on Fox. ...

This week [Trump] posted a rant on his social media platform Truth Social in which he accused Murdoch himself of peddling “fake news” after the Fox chief was revealed to have said in a deposition that he did not believe the stolen election lie from the beginning.

If Rupert Murdoch honestly believes that the presidential election of 2020, despite massive amounts of proof to the contrary, was not rigged & stolen, then he & his group of MAGA hating globalist RINOs [Republicans In Name Only] should get out of the news business as soon as possible,” Trump said.

That's all well and good, but I can just see Trump moving over from Fox to the far-right-fringe networks of One America (lol) and Newsmax (lol) to get his narcissistic fix for attention.

Despite him screwing up so much, Trump (somehow) still leads in the polls for 2024. Long way out yet though.

Trump's mistaken. Rupert Murdoch's never been in the news business. Unless you count Fake News.

"Justice for All" by Donald J Trump and the J6 Prison Choir!

Yes, really!

The Guardian - Donald Trump releases single with January 6 prisoners

03 March 2023

Donald Trump has released a charity single, recorded with a choir of men held in a Washington DC prison for their parts in the deadly January 6 insurrection he incited.

On Friday, Justice for All by Donald J Trump and the J6 Prison Choir was available on streaming platforms including Spotify, Apple Music and YouTube. ...

Over an ambient backing, the song features Trump reciting the Pledge of Allegiance, interspersed with a male voice choir singing The Star-Spangled Banner.

The song lasts for about two and a half minutes and ends with a chant of “U-S-A! U-S-A! U-S-A!” ...

EDIT   You heard it here first!

Fox News has certainly fallen out of favour very quickly - they didn't even have a stand at the CPAC thingo this year. Of course loudmouth liar Bannon was there, spouting his usual nonstop bs. Newsmax was there however.

Query - are the voting companies (Dominion, etc) going after all the other networks who pushed the "election fraud" bs? I'm thinking Newsmax and OAN had a finger in the pie, as well as Fox.

Fox is where the money is. And man, do they make a mint off the stuff they peddle, everything else is chump change in comparison.

Having said that, Dominion could still go after the small fry once a precedent is set with Fox, but Fox is the real target.

The NY Times - Trump Says He Would Stay in 2024 Race if Indicted

04 March 2023

OXON HILL, Maryland. — Former President Donald J. Trump said on Saturday that he would not drop out of the 2024 presidential race if he was indicted in one of several investigations he is facing.

Mr. Trump made the comments to a group of conservative media before his speech to the Conservative Political Action Coalition [CPAC] conference in National Harbor, Maryland.

It was the first time Mr. Trump spoke publicly about how he would respond if he was indicted while actively seeking the presidency, an event that would roil the 2024 campaign. ...

I think his idiotic followers would still vote for the orange buffoon even if he was in jail. Just stop for a minute to imagine how ridiculous that sounds - a President running a country from within a jail cell??!?!

That's how deluded they are.

I've said this several times over the last few years but it's still relevant: There's a sizeable chunk of the American populace who are literally in thrall to Donald Trump. And this situation will endure until he is dead, and maybe even after that, for some considerable time. To many, he is, and maybe always will be during those people's lifetimes, a Messiah.

Esteemed members of the jury, this trial of Trump has gravitas, and should not be taken lightly.

I'd like to submit this video of Trump singing with insurrectionists, in support of the coup.

NY Times - It Was Donald Trump’s CPAC. (No One Else Came.)

06 March 2023

The Conservative Political Action Conference is a festival disguised as a political meeting, a sales convention doubling as a revival, an annual celebration of a particular kind of conservatism and its red hat-wearing, pin-collecting enthusiasts. ...

This year’s just-concluded edition didn’t feature all the usual big names in Republican politics.

Gov. Ron DeSantis of Florida decided against attending, as did former Vice President Mike Pence and the Senate minority leader, Mitch McConnell. (McConnell, it should be noted, is extremely unpopular at CPAC.) ...

An audience member at CPAC amid rows of empty seats.

EDIT

Trump gave a bonkers speech at CPAC, telling the crowd, “I am your warrior. I am your justice. And for those who have been wronged and betrayed: I am your retribution.
