This is pretty scathing - even more so given it's the New York Post, a Murdoch-owned paper.

geekIT: (The Borowitz Report)—Offering a vehement defense of Donald J. Trump, Representative Kevin McCarthy told reporters that the former President should not be indicted, because “most if not almost all Americans” pay porn stars.<

That fooled me for a moment, till I noticed "(The Borowitz Report)"

Maybe lead with "satire" or a "winky eye" emoji, because of "Poe's law":

Huh, now that Trump is no longer president, she seems to start caring for the plight of others.

The NY Times - Pence Must Testify to Jan. 6 Grand Jury, Judge Rules

breaking

A federal judge has ordered former Vice President Mike Pence to appear in front of a grand jury investigating former President Donald J. Trump’s attempts to overturn the 2020 election, largely sweeping aside two separate legal efforts by Mr. Pence and Mr. Trump to limit his testimony ...

The twin rulings on Monday, by Judge James E. Boasberg in Federal District Court in Washington, were the latest setbacks to bids by Mr. Trump’s legal team to limit the scope of questions that prosecutors can ask witnesses close to him in separate investigations into his efforts to maintain his grip on power after his election defeat and into his handling of classified documents after he left office.

The NY Times - Late Night Recaps Donald Trump’s Waco Rally

28 March 2023

“But, just to be clear, he didn’t do it, he wouldn’t do it, but if he had done it, he wouldn’t have done it with her.” — JIMMY KIMMEL

“Trump chose Waco because it’s a powerful metaphor for his campaign: He’s going down in flames, and he’s taking his cult followers with him.” — JIMMY KIMMEL

“Former President Trump held a rally on Saturday in Waco, Texas, near the site of the Branch Davidian cult’s compound. Or, as it’s now known: campaign headquarters.” — SETH MEYERS

Sorry KD, forgot the banner. Blame senile decay and brain fog, but it's also been a while since I'd seen anything from Borowitz that was a) Relevant to this thread, b) Of interest to NZrs and c) Really funny. I think this thread was better before it was split into two

TRUMP CLAIMS FAILURE TO ARREST HIM IS CONSPIRACY TO KEEP HIM FROM GETTING DONATIONS

NEW YORK (The Borowitz Report)—Donald J. Trump claimed that the failure of the Manhattan District Attorney, Alvin Bragg, to indict him thus far is “an out and out conspiracy” to keep him from attracting campaign donations.

“Alvin Bragg should have arrested me by now,” Trump said. “He is a disgrace and he  has treated me very unfairly.”

Trump said that he had made repeated calls to Bragg’s office to demand that he be arrested but has received no response.

“There’s something going on,” Trump said. “Obviously George Soros is telling Bragg not to arrest me. This should never be allowed to happen in our country.”

Issuing an ultimatum to Bragg, Trump said that, if he is not arrested by Friday, “I will perform a citizen’s arrest on myself.”

Thanks, @geekIT for your Borowitz reports. He is so darned funny.

In my view a really good satire should have us wondering whether it is true or not😊They run very fine lines!

I bet he very much regrets his dalliance with this young lass now - especially since she won't put up with his crap.

Popularity waning somewhat? His crowd sizes are nowhere near what they used to be - and remember, this was his first official rally for 2024.

“I turn on one of the networks, and they show an empty field,” Trump said. “I'm like, wait a minute. I made a speech. I looked out, the field was, it looked like a million, million and a half people.”

The NY Times - Trump’s Return to Fox News Gets a Cool Reception … on Fox News

29 March 2023

The network used to be a safe space for the former president.

But Brian Kilmeade, Jason Chaffetz and others had tough words for his appearance on “Hannity,” his first Fox interview in months. ...

Sean Hannity listened patiently as Mr. Trump reeled off his usual talking points about the “fake news media” and “horrible” Democrats. ... and minutes after his interview aired, network personalities were taking the former president to task.

Laura Ingraham, whose prime-time program directly follows “Hannity,” allowed the New York Post columnist Miranda Devine to criticize Mr. Trump for “complaining endlessly about the past” and “constantly dwelling on grievance.” ...

The next morning, Jason Chaffetz, a Republican congressman turned Fox News contributor, denounced Mr. Trump’s performance as “absolutely horrific.” ... “I think that was the worst interview I’ve seen the president do.”

He went on to criticize the former president for “whining,” “complaining” and playing “the victim card.”

Steve Doocy and Brian Kilmeade, two of the co-hosts of the morning show “Fox & Friends,” also knocked Mr. Trump’s performance.

How the mighty have fallen  🧐

Sensational. I bet (hope) that all of 14 people will turn up to protest, like the other week! 😀
