Am currently watching Trump being indicted on CNN. He just went into the courtroom looking very stone-faced. Not a word to the gathered press.

Not according to recent polls quoted by the BBC. If there was an election now and he was running against Biden he would lose.

BBC - Donald Trump accused of falsifying records to conceal crimes

What to know about the 34 charges

  •     The court filing says the former president "with intent to defraud and intent to commit another crime and aid and conceal the commission thereof, made and caused a false entry in the business records of an enterprise"

  •     The charges against Trump are all Class E felonies. That is the lowest category of felony offence in New York and carries a maximum prison sentence of four years per count

  •     Falsifying business records is usually prosecuted as a misdemeanour

  •     The Manhattan district attorney's office is escalating the charge by alleging the offence was committed in order to conceal or commit another crime

  •     Trump has pleaded not guilty on all the charges

In the courtroom: Trump expressionless in sober hearing

Shortly after 14:30 local time, Donald Trump walked into the courtroom escorted by several secret service members. His face was expressionless and his steps were heavy and slow.

He sat in the front row for proceedings. It was short of fireworks, and was very official. There was no circus-like atmosphere.

The judge presided in a calm and even tone and never raised his voice. He spoke politely and calmly and firmly to Donald Trump, making sure the former president understood his rights.

Trump sat silently throughout almost the entire proceedings. He only spoke when he was required to, either by pleading not guilty or by answering to the judge when addressed directly.

National polls are not that useful anyway. Each state has different laws about how votes are allocated because states rights.

BBC - Donald Trump accused of falsifying records to conceal crimes

"[Trump's fixer] Cohen negotiated a deal with [porn-star] Daniels' lawyer for her silence over the affair, in order to 'prevent disclosure of the damaging information in the final weeks before the presidential election'

Trump did not want to make the $130,000 payment and directed Cohen to delay for as possible, because 'if they could delay the payment until after the election, they could avoid paying altogether, because at that point it would not matter if the story became public'

But - 'with pressure mounting and the election approaching' - Trump 'agreed to the payoff' and 'confirmed' he would pay Cohen back"

Trump: it's always what you suspect, but always worse.

The NY Times - Without a mug shot, the Trump campaign creates one for a T-shirt.

Donald J. Trump may not have an actual mug shot, but his campaign team was not going to miss an opportunity to raise money off his arrest on Tuesday with a ready-made meme: a $36 T-shirt bearing the former president’s face in a pretend booking photo.

The “Official Trump Mugshot White Cotton T-Shirt” shows Mr. Trump above a letter board that reads “President Donald J. Trump,” the numbers “45-47” - presumably signifying his status as the 45th and possible 47th president - and the date of his arraignment, above the words “NOT GUILTY.”

In a touch of Trumpian embellishment, his height on the chart behind him appears to tip past 6 feet 5 inches. (In 2016, his doctor listed him as 6 feet 3 inches.)

The New Republic: Trump Tower Doorman Was Paid $30,000 to Hide Story of Trump’s Out-of-Wedlock Child, Manhattan D.A. Says

Did Trump have a child out of wedlock?

Twice-impeached former President Donald Trump was charged with 34 counts of falsifying business records on Tuesday. Trump became the first former president ever to be indicted, for his role in disbursing hush-money payments to porn actress Stormy Daniels. And what else was among those payments? A $30,000 payment to a former Trump Tower doorman for their silence about a potential Trump child out of wedlock.

“In one instance, American Media Inc. (‘AMI’), paid $30,000 to a former Trump Tower doorman, who claimed to have a story about a child TRUMP had out of wedlock,” the Manhattan district attorney’s office announced Tuesday, referring to the company that owned The National Enquirer at the time.

While the case’s focus has largely been on Trump directing his former lawyer Michael Cohen to pay hush money to Stormy Daniels, another $30,000 appears to have been spent elsewhere.

“During the election, TRUMP and others employed a ‘catch and kill’ scheme to identify, purchase, and bury negative information about him and boost his electoral prospects,” the district attorney’s office noted. “TRUMP then went to great lengths to hide this conduct, causing dozens of false entries in business records to conceal criminal activity, including attempts to violate state and federal election laws.”

Though the district attorney’s office did not specify, it seems the doorman might be Dino Sajudin, according to a 2018 report from The New Yorker’s Ronan Farrow. Sajudin allegedly told a National Enquirer reporter that Trump had possibly fathered a child out of wedlock with a former housekeeper. Sajudin apparently passed a lie detector test on the idea, prompting AMI to pay him for the exclusive rights to the story, all in order to kill it.

It wasn't a BBC poll - they were referencing US polls.

gzt: National polls are not that useful anyway. Each state has different laws about how votes are allocated because states rights.

And a lot of the states, or at least the bits that pertain to voting, are controlled by Retrumplicans determined to ensure that 2020 doesn't happen again, and ideally the Democrats winning any election will never happen again.

Apparently he is throwing a party at Mar-a-largo tonight. I bet he wont be silent and that there will be fireworks and circus performances and that will be just from him.

Whilst the difficult we can do immediately, the impossible takes a bit longer. However, miracles you will have to wait for.
