I can just imagine him to - one day - be moronic enough to say something like this:
I was going to put this in the Stormy thread but it's locked...however I bet if Trump (somehow) ever saw this I bet he would be quite triggered! 😀

I think as long as the Republicans keep Trump around, they are addicted to losing. They're trying to satisfy his reasonably-sized (but small) base, while ignoring everyone else (non-Trump Republicans, Independents and Democrats alike).
Sure, these court cases of his galvanise Republicans like there's no tomorrow - but in a general election, it just puts people off voting for him. I see a number of Republicans are getting sick of the ongoing dramas (plural) around Trump. And they want another 4 years of this crap? Really?

In the not too distant future he will die and as his ego will not allow him to groom a successor all his nut job acolytes will be left wandering around leaderless in the wastelands of the extreme right.
The less extreme part of the GOP will gain control again and the party will revert to being the way they were when say GB2 was President. Not great but an improvement.
Unfortunately, in the meantime, we have to put up with the ravings of this lunatic because the broadcast media love him for his ability to generate headlines.
Personally I'm bored to death with him.

Leaderless is right. Even if Trump keeled over tomorrow, I get the feeling as there's no natural successor in MAGA world who would be palatable to everyone in that crowd, there would be nothing short of a power struggle. It would be awesome to watch MAGA world caving in on itself.

"Epic" is a good word for it. I guess with Trump at least when you think you couldn't go any lower, he (somehow) finds a new low to aspire to!
Whatever happened to "so much winning"? How's that going, Donnie? How's that working out for you there? 🙄
Like I said earlier, for sure, this fires up the MAGA base. But they aren't the entire electorate - and I think that's more what Trump needs to worry about. I can't imagine a great number of Democrats flocking to him over his indictment.
IMHO, it's understandable that the current Trump indictments are, apparently, gaining him support from many Americans. Like, here's a guy who's being victimized by a some no-account broad who makes a living from sex, right? Well, that's wrong, wrong, wrong. Should never happen in this country!
Predictably, this group fails to notice, either from choice or sheer ignorance, that the involvement of a porn star in the charges is incidental to the main force of the indictments, which is that, in the pay-off process, Trump broke a number of other laws that carry much heavier penalties.
Looking at the broader picture in this way, I think the decision to initially prosecute Trump on what might seem to be relatively minor offenses was a brilliant move by the authorities, because the indictments are serious enough to appear weighty, thus keeping the Ever-Trumpers from rioting in the streets, while giving the DJ more time to roll out the heavyweight charges that are more likely to demolish Trump forever, or at the very least, to reduce his influence to a point where he's no longer of consequence.

Something else I saw elsewhere and hadn't thought of before (along the lines of the above comment) is one of the reasons Trump continually asks for donations - despite the fact that he's (apparently) a billionaire - is he wants his followers to feel invested. He needs to feel powerful, and if they send him money he will feel "loved" and "powerful". Sort of like a televangelist - such a person is nothing without their followers; ditto Trump.
Also: two far-right loonies fight it out: one doesn't want the other to run Trump's campaign: https://www.forbes.com/sites/saradorn/2023/04/07/marjorie-taylor-greene-blasts-possible-trump-campaign-hire-loomer-calls-her-unstable-and-a-documented-liar/?sh=65e7bf4f4f5f
