Two things. One the infamous gangster Al Capone was guilty of running illegal gambling dens, prostitution rings, bootlegging, bribery, narcotics trafficking, robbery, “protection” rackets, and murder.

He went to jail over tax fraud, not for the more serious crimes.

Two. Trump's base is base e.g. morally low, dishonorable; meanspirited, selfish and cowardly. They loves any scandal involving sex, and they understand paying off someone to shut up.

They're quickly bored with crimes they couldn't easily commit, like treason, but salivate over talking about sex, like the size and shape of Trump's tiny mushroom shaped penis.

So Stormy Daniel's case is naturally the one that's going to give Trump the most grief.

quickymart:  Something else I saw elsewhere and hadn't thought of before ... is one of the reasons Trump continually asks for donations ...

He needs to feel powerful, and if they send him money he will feel "loved" and "powerful". Sort of like a televangelist ...

Being secret documents and accounting/accountability in Trumps Whitehouse being somewhat nonexistent.
Have they got them all back, or even know what is missing?

quickymart: Also: two far-right loonies fight it out: one doesn't want the other to run Trump's campaign: https://www.forbes.com/sites/saradorn/2023/04/07/marjorie-taylor-greene-blasts-possible-trump-campaign-hire-loomer-calls-her-unstable-and-a-documented-liar/?sh=65e7bf4f4f5f

Trump and Loomer - an excellent match-up. With Loomer at his side Trump can't possibly fail.

To fail the bigglyest fail possible, that is 🤪

Bad Taste Easter SNL Alert

The NY Times - ‘S.N.L.’ Brings Donald Trump to the Last Supper for Easter Weekend

In this episode of Saturday Night Live, the former president (played by James Austin Johnson), compared his recent indictment to the persecution of Jesus.

Jesus: “Alas, one of you will betray me. Though I have committed no crime, I will be arrested, tried and found guilty.”

Enter Trump. “Sound familiar? A famous, wonderful man, arrested for no reason at all. If you haven’t put it together, folks, I’m comparing myself to Jesus, again. And what better time than on his birthday, Easter.

As we speak, I am being persecuted on a level the likes of which the world has never seen, even worse than the late, great Jesus.”

He rose from the dead on the third day. I would have done it faster. Possibly two days. I think we could have done it a lot faster. He had a good mind for business. Water into wine - pure profit. And he had big, big rallies just like me.” ...

Oh Donnie, if you really did nothing wrong at all (yeah right), why would you need to go to the trouble of blocking your former VP's testimony? Are you running scared? I know I would be!

Well let's hope all his nuclear missiles access have been removed (assuming he wasn't given a dummy suitcase).

I'm sure he'd have no problem using one, because all's fair in witch hunts and love.

The NY Times - Trump Ignores Deadline for Personal Financial Disclosure to F.E.C.

10 April 2023

Former President Donald J. Trump has a minor addition to his mounting pile of legal challenges after he failed to meet the deadline to disclose his personal financial holdings.

But the threatened initial penalty - a meager $200 - is the latest sign of how weak federal enforcement of campaign laws has become.

The personal financial disclosure will eventually provide the first look at Mr. Trump’s post-presidential businesses, including his holdings in Truth Social, the social media company he helped create. ...

Meredith McGehee, a longtime campaign watchdog, said, “It’s very clear that former President Trump doesn’t feel the law applies to him and has spent much of his career hiring legal representation to delay and distract. This is in line with his general approach.”

Anyone have a location for the full video? The only one I managed to find has an annoying voice-over 🙄

An interesting history lesson from 538 on the differences between Trump's scandal and Gary Hart's scandal (I'm old enough to remember his name) and what makes them so vastly different today.

Obama's Easter Tweet

"I want to wish all who celebrate a happy and blessed Easter. With everything going on in the world right now, it’s a chance to hug our loved ones tight and give thanks for new beginnings and the blessings we all enjoy."
---------
Trump's Easter "Truth" post (same day, in all caps)

"HAPPY EASTER TO ALL, INCLUDING THOSE THAT DREAM ENDLESSLY OF DESTROYING OUR COUNTRY BECAUSE THEY ARE INCAPABLE OF DREAMING ABOUT ANYTHING ELSE.

THOSE THAT ARE SO INCOMPETENT THEY DON'T REALIZE THAT HAVING A BORDER AND POWERFUL WALL IS A GOOD THING.

TO ALL OF THOSE WEAK & PATHETIC RINOS, RADICAL LEFT DEMOCRATS, SOCIALISTS, MARXISTS, & COMMUNISTS WHO ARE KILLING OUR NATION, REMEMBER, WE WILL BE BACK!"

Afraid, angry, desperate, and quite possibly demented.

Therefore extremely dangerous.  🙄
