I don't actually know anyone who "dreams" of "destroying [a] country". Maybe I mix with the wrong people?

Some leaders do, but it's typically the one next door, not their own one.
kingdragonfly: Obama's Easter Tweet
"I want to wish all who celebrate a happy and blessed Easter. With everything going on in the world right now, it’s a chance to hug our loved ones tight and give thanks for new beginnings and the blessings we all enjoy."

Trump's Easter "Truth" post (same day, in all caps)
"HAPPY EASTER TO ALL, INCLUDING THOSE THAT DREAM ENDLESSLY OF DESTROYING OUR COUNTRY BECAUSE THEY ARE INCAPABLE OF DREAMING ABOUT ANYTHING ELSE.
THOSE THAT ARE SO INCOMPETENT THEY DON'T REALIZE THAT HAVING A BORDER AND POWERFUL WALL IS A GOOD THING.
TO ALL OF THOSE WEAK & PATHETIC RINOS, RADICAL LEFT DEMOCRATS, SOCIALISTS, MARXISTS, & COMMUNISTS WHO ARE KILLING OUR NATION, REMEMBER, WE WILL BE BACK!"

The Times (of London) - Donald Trump insists he’ll run in 2024 even if convicted
12 April 2023
Donald Trump has vowed he would “never drop out” of next year’s presidential race, even if he is convicted on criminal charges.
In his first big interview since being arrested and charged in New York, the former president told the Fox News host Tucker Carlson that nothing would prevent him from running.
“I’d never drop out,” Trump told Carlson. “It’s not my thing. I wouldn’t do it.” ...
Trump has to keep saying that he will run ... he needs the donations from his MAGA fanbase to pay for the lawyers.
Once he admits he isn't running anymore, no more gravy train. ๐

Despite Trump's falling popularity, the GOP just doesn't know how to walk away from him. I hope they lose "bigly" at the next election, no matter who they're up against (be it Joe or anyone else). Maybe they'll learn a lesson or two then?
quickymart: ... I hope they lose "bigly" at the next election ...
A reader's letter from today's Times of London:
Mr Trump should run again. His will be the greatest election steal ever.
No other president in the history of the world has had two elections stolen from him.
His will be the best ever, much more bigly than Washington or even Lincoln.
Of course they were big, and they tried, and some people say they were famous, but many people say that for the biggest ever election steal look at Mr Trump.
No one, in the history of the world, has ever had such a steal.

Donald Trump suing former lawyer Michael Cohen for more than $US500m after testimony - ABC News
The lawsuit accuses Mr Cohen of violating his attorney-client relationship with Mr Trump by revealing his "confidences" and "spreading falsehoods" in books, podcasts, and media appearances.
It says Mr Cohen wrongfully called Mr Trump "racist" in his 2020 book, "Disloyal", and fabricated conversations with the former president.
"The timing of Disloyal's release, just prior to the November 3, 2020, presidential election, suggests that defendant intended to improperly disclose plaintiff's confidences when it would be most lucrative to do so — and while Disloyal would be sure to have the most damaging reputational effect," the lawsuit said.
Mr Trump lost the election to Democrat Joe Biden.
Mr Cohen did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
Mr Cohen was a top executive at Mr Trump's real estate company and then worked as his lawyer when he assumed office in 2017.

On the positive side, this may make lawyers even more wary of representing Trump - even with their fees paid in advance. ๐คจ

The NY Times - Trump Faces Questioning in N.Y. Attorney General’s Lawsuit
13 April 2023
Donald J. Trump was being questioned under oath on Thursday in a civil fraud lawsuit brought by New York Attorney General Letitia James, the latest in a series of legal predicaments entangling the former president ...
Ms. James’s civil case, which was filed in September and is expected to go to trial later this year, accuses Mr. Trump, his family business and three of his children of a “staggering” fraud for overvaluing the former president’s assets by billions of dollars.
The lawsuit seeks $250 million that it contends they reaped through those deceptions, made in Mr. Trump’s annual financial statements - and asks a judge to essentially run him out of business in the state if he is found liable at trial.
Excellent news! ๐๐๐
