quickymart:

I realise the primaries (and indeed, the election) are still some way off, but 538 has already started their polling: https://fivethirtyeight.com/features/trump-desantis-national-polls/

And in spite of (or possibly because of) the indictment, his numbers are going up.

Also...

Is it just me, or does Jim Jordan in this picture here remind you a bit of Darren off Bewitched?

Long story short: Trump didn't keep his mouth shut in a "new" case for seven hours before a judge, instead of "pleading the fifth" and shutting up.

The civil case is about fraudulently changing valuations on properties, depending on whether he was getting a loan or having to pay taxes.

Now that civil testimony, under oath, can be used in a criminal case.

Trump cornered by Manhattan New York District Attorney's chess move.

MeidasTouch

Karen Friedman Agnifilo and Ben Meiselas report on how the deposition of Donald Trump taken by the New York Attorney General Letitia James further demonstrates why Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s decision to wait before presenting financial fraud charges against Trump to a grand jury was a stroke of genius.

Also, he (stupidly) tries to sue Michael Cohen and just makes things harder for himself in the process: https://truthout.org/articles/trumps-lawsuit-against-michael-cohen-could-badly-backfire-experts-say/

The National Rifle Association of America (NRA) is a chaos rights advocacy group, errr sorry, gun rights advocacy group based in the United States

NBC News: Trump says mass shootings are not 'a gun problem' as 2024 GOP hopefuls pledge loyalty to the NRA

The former president and his rivals for the Republican nomination vowed to defend and expand gun rights in the wake of rampages in Kentucky and Tennessee.

Rolling Stones: Trump Says He’ll Launch Probe Into Whether Trans ‘Ideology’ Leads to Mass Shootings

The former president called school shootings a "spiritual problem" and not a "gun problem" during a NRA speech on Friday

That's actually pretty accurate. It was founded to promote responsible firearms use and firearms safety education but after a leadership coup in 1977 it became a chaos rights advocacy group... perhaps gun anarchy advocacy group? Hmm, still not the best term for it.

In mid-2019, writer E. Jean Carroll accused then-U.S.-president Donald Trump of sexually assaulting her in the mid-1990s.

Trump denied the allegations, saying she was "not his type."

Potential evidence in the cases includes statements from witnesses Carroll reputedly told about the alleged incident, a photograph of her with Trump in 1987, and semen on a dress Carroll said she was wearing during the incident. Trump has refused to supply a DNA sample.

Above The Law: Another Day, Another Desperate Trump Plea To Delay E. Jean Carroll Defamation Suit

...Trump’s motion to delay the case due to negative publicity is still pending. But it does not appear that the court is inclined to reverse its February vow this trial would start on the 25th, “come hell or high water.”

Meanwhile, Trump has filed his proposed jury instructions. Those appear to consist largely of a plea for the court to reverse itself and allow his legal team to get the names of prospective jurors.

The former president, who unleashed his mob on the jury foreperson in the Roger Stone case and recently warned of “death and destruction” should he be indicted, directing his supporters to protest at the New York courthouse, seems unlikely to get the requested relief.

But the night is young, and Team Trump has undoubtedly ten batshit crazy motions to fire off before the jury is even empaneled.

That's actually a pretty good (and fitting) logo.

I get sick of hearing the NRA saying, "guns aren't the problem, people are" - then why the hell would you give "the problem" more guns???

CNN is reporting a one-day delay to the Fox-Dominion lawsuit trial. They suggest this could mean a last-minute settlement is in the works. I really hope not. I want to see those evil bastards hung out to dry, drawn and quartered, humiliated and discredited, fined into oblivion, disgraced and dismissed once and for all. There should not be a settlement of any kind, but if it has to be, at a minimum it should include the transfer of all Fox assets to Dominion, a punitive additional debt of $10 billion dollars for eroding American society, and a requirement that a full disclosure of every lie Fox has ever published be broadcast full-screen for at least 30 seconds every half-hour, with a groveling apology by the company's presenters and executives at the end.

Wouldn't that be nice. 😉

But Rupert Murdoch is involved, so don't expect a happy ending.  😟

I hope they also go after all the other a-holes who peddled election lies - including Breitbart, Newsmax and One America or whatever the hell that "news" channel calls itself.

I wonder if Sidney Powell and Rudy Guliani are also on the hit list?
